Studies on the management of functional tricuspid regurgitation (TR) during mitral valve operations have drawn inconsistent conclusions. This study was designed to compare the treatment strategy of concomitant tricuspid annuloplasty (TAP) against isolated mitral valve replacement (MVR) in rheumatic mitral valve disease patients, and to assess the effect of concomitant TAP on postoperative right ventricular (RV) remodeling and function.

One hundred-seventy patients with rheumatic mitral valve disease receiving MVR were categorized into TAP group (n = 124) and non-TAP group (n = 46). Clinical and echocardiographic data were collected preoperatively and at 1-year follow-up. Three-dimensional echocardiographic indices of RV geometry and function were analyzed.

At baseline, concomitant TAP group had larger RV end-diastolic volume, more decreased RV ejection fraction and RV longitudinal strain than non-TAP group (all P < 0.001). At 1-year follow-up, TAP group had improved RV geometry and function. While ad TR who had isolated MVR might experience RV dilation and deterioration of RV function at follow-up. Concomitant surgery for functional TR could be considered for patients undergoing MVR with rheumatic mitral valve disease.

Cigarette smoking in people with cancer is associated with negative treatment-related outcomes including increased treatment toxicity and complications, medication side effects, decreased performance status and morbidity. Evidence-based smoking cessation care is not routinely provided to patients with cancer. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of a smoking cessation implementation intervention on abstinence from smoking in people diagnosed with cancer.

A stepped wedge cluster randomised design will be used. All sites begin in the control condition providing treatment as usual. In a randomly generated order, sites will move to the intervention condition. Based on the Theoretical Domains Framework, implementation of Care to Quit will include (i) building the capability and motivation of a critical mass of key clinical staff and identifying champions; and (ii) identifying and implementing cessation care models/pathways. Two thousand one hundred sixty patients with cancer (diagnosed io the accrual of the first participant and will be updated regularly as per registry guidelines.

The pathogenesis of germinal center B-cell type diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (GCB-DLBCL) is not fully elucidated. This study aims to explore the regulation of super enhancers (SEs) on GCB-DLBCL by identifying specific SE-target gene.

Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to screen modules associated with GCB subtype. Functional analysis was performed by gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment. H3K27ac peaks were used to identify SEs. Overall survival analysis was performed using Kaplan-Meier curve with log-rank and Breslow test. The effect of ADNP, ANKRD28 and RTN4IP1 knockdown on Karpas 422 and SUDHL-4 cells proliferation was analyzed by CCK-8. Karpas 422 and SUDHL-4 cells were treated with bromodomain and extra-terminal domain (BET) inhibitor JQ1, and the expression of ADNP, ANKRD28 and RTN4IP1was measured by qRT-PCR.

A total of 26 modules were screened in DLBCL. Src inhibitor Turquoise module was closely related to GCB-DLBCL, and its eigengenes were mainly related to autophagy. There were 971 SEs in Karpas 422 cell and 1088 SEs in SUDHL-4 cell. Function of the nearest genes of overall SEs were related to cancer. Six SE-related genes associated with GCB-DLBCL were identified as prognostic markers. Knockdown of ADNP, ANKRD28 and RTN4IP1 inhibited the proliferation of Karpas 422 and SUDHL-4 cells. JQ1 treatment suppressed ADNP, ANKRD28 and RTN4IP1 expression in Karpas 422 and SUDHL-4 cells.

A total of 6 SE-related genes associated with GCB-DLBCL overall survival were identified in this study. These results will serve as a theoretical basis for further study of gene regulation and function of GCB-DLBCL.

Malaria during pregnancy and childhood is one of the major public health challenges globally. Its prevalence is huge in Africa, especially in sub-Saharan countries and Ethiopia. Insecticide-treated mosquito net (ITN) use is one of the primary malaria preventive strategies. Previous studies did not adequately address the health belief and behaviour-related correlates of ITN using health belief model (HBM), although a number of studies were conducted in this theme. Therefore, this study was aimed at assessing the prevalence and associated factors of ITN utilization among pregnant women and under five children in east Belessa district, northwest Ethiopia, 2020.

A community-based cross-sectional mixed study was conducted in east Belessa district from February 01-30/2020. A total of 724 eligible participants were included in the quantitative study. A multistage cluster sampling technique was used. The quantitative data were collected using an interviewer-administered structured questionnaire. Data were enteredvel of a perceived barrier. Reversing the community's misconceptions through information, education and communication (IEC), and behavioural change communication (BCC) would enhance ITN utilization.

The prevalence of ITN utilization in the study area was lower than the national target (100%). It was significantly associated with household characteristics, residence, and level of a perceived barrier. Reversing the community's misconceptions through information, education and communication (IEC), and behavioural change communication (BCC) would enhance ITN utilization.

Implementation and upscale of effective malaria vector control strategies necessitates understanding the multi-factorial aspects of transmission patterns. The primary aims of this study are to determine the vector composition, biting rates, trophic preference, and the overall importance of distinguishing outdoor versus indoor malaria transmission through a study at two communities in rural Mali.

Mosquito collection was carried out between July 2012 and June 2016 at two rural Mali communities (Dangassa and Koïla Bamanan) using pyrethrum spray-catch and human landing catch approaches at both indoor and outdoor locations. Species of Anopheles gambiae complex were identified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Enzyme-Linked -Immuno-Sorbent Assay (ELISA) were used to determine the origin of mosquito blood meals and presence of Plasmodium falciparum sporozoite infections.

A total of 11,237 An. gambiae sensu lato (s.l.) were collected during the study period (5239 and 5998 from the Dangassa and Koïla Bamanan sites, respectively).
