ent and to determine the efficacy of therapies when they become available for this devastating disease. The microstructure of porous scaffolds plays a vital role in bone regeneration, but its optimal shape is still unclear. In this study, four kinds of porous titanium alloy scaffolds with similar porosities (65%) and pore sizes (650 μm) and different structures were prepared by selective laser melting. click here Four scaffolds were implanted into the distal femur of rabbits to evaluate bone tissue growth in vivo. Micro-CT and hard tissue section analyses were performed 6 and 12 weeks after the operation to reveal the bone growth of the porous scaffold. The results show that diamond lattice unit (DIA) bone growth is the best of the four topological scaffolds. Through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, the permeability, velocity and flow trajectory inside the scaffold structure were calculated. The internal fluid velocity difference of the DIA structure is the smallest, and the trajectory of fluid flow inside the scaffold is the longest, which is beneficial for blood vessel growth, nutrient transport and bone formation. In this study, the mechanism of bone growth in different structures was revealed by in vivo experiments combined with CFD, providing a new theoretical basis for the design of bone scaffolds in the future.
Diabetes patients without obstructive coronary artery disease as assessed by coronary angiography have a low risk of myocardial infarction, but their myocardial infarction risk may still be higher than the general population. We examined the 10-year risks of myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and death in diabetes patients without obstructive coronary artery disease according to coronary angiography, compared to risks in a matched general population cohort.
We included all diabetes patients without obstructive coronary artery disease examined by coronary angiography from 2003 to 2016 in Western Denmark. Patients were matched by age and sex with a cohort from the Western Denmark general population without a previous myocardial infarction or coronary revascularization. Outcomes were myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and death. Ten-year cumulative incidences were computed. Adjusted hazard ratios (HR) then were computed using stratified Cox regression with the general population as reference.
We identified 5734 diabetes patients without obstructive coronary artery disease and 28,670 matched individuals from the general population. Median follow-up was 7years. Diabetes patients without obstructive coronary artery disease had an almost similar 10-year risk of myocardial infarction (3.2% vs 2.9%, adjusted HR 0.93, 95% CI 0.72-1.20) compared to the general population, but had an increased risk of ischemic stroke (5.2% vs 2.2%, adjusted HR 1.87, 95% CI 1.47-2.38) and death (29.6% vs 17.8%, adjusted HR 1.24, 95% CI 1.13-1.36).
Patients with diabetes and no obstructive coronary artery disease have a 10-year risk of myocardial infarction that is similar to that found in the general population. However, they still remain at increased risk of ischemic stroke and death.

Colorectal cancer patients undergoing surgical resection are at increased short-term risk of post-operative adverse events. However, specific predictors for long-term major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) are unclear. We hypothesised that patients who receive chemotherapy are at higher risk of MACCE than those who did not.
In this retrospective study, 412 patients who underwent surgical resection for newly diagnosed colorectal cancer from January 2013 to April 2015 were grouped according to chemotherapy status. MACCE was defined as a composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke, unplanned revascularisation, hospitalisation for heart failure or angina. Predictors of MACCE were identified using competing risks regression, with non-cardiovascular death a competing risk.
There were 200 patients in the chemotherapy group and 212 patients in the non-chemotherapy group. The overall prevalence of prior cardiovascular disease was 20.9%. Over a median follow-up duration of 5required to clarify this association.
The use of information technologies could help to improve communications between patients and care providers, might improve overall patient management practice. However, the potential for implementing these patient management options in Ethiopia has not been well documented. This institution-based survey aimed to describe the attitude and willingness of care providers towards the use of information technologies for managing diabetes patients, and factors influencing their interest.
A cross-sectional quantitative survey was conducted on 423 study participants from February to March 2020 at two teaching hospitals in Northwest Ethiopia, where remote monitoring patients had not been implemented. A pretested self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the required data. Other than descriptive statistics, the binary logistic regression analysis method was used to identify factors associated with attitude. Also, the negative binomial regression method was used to identify factors associated with willingn significantly associated with willingness to use information technologies.
Improving the intention and skill of using computers should be a major point of attention for teaching hospitals who wish to improve their care providers' attitudes to remote monitoring and willingness in using information technologies. Besides, the awareness of professionals is crucial for improving willingness.
