Finally, we successfully tested convergent, divergent, and construct validity of DLS. We established that DEL is associated with employees' needs frustration and with their experiences of emotional exhaustion. It is concluded that the DLS has sound psychometric properties and can be used in future research on the dark side of leadership.A challenging aspect of scene text detection is to handle curved texts. In order to avoid the tedious manual annotations for training curve text detector, and to overcome the limitation of regression-based text detectors to irregular text, we introduce straightforward and efficient instance-aware curved scene text detector, namely, look more than twice (LOMT), which makes the regression-based text detection results gradually change from loosely bounded box to compact polygon. LOMT mainly composes of curve text shape approximation module and component merging network. The shape approximation module uses a particle swarm optimization-based text shape approximation method (called PSO-TSA) to fine-tune the quadrilateral text detection results to fit the curved text. The component merging network merges incomplete text sub-parts of text instances into more complete polygon through instance awareness, called ICMN. Experiments on five text datasets demonstrate that our method not only achieves excellent performance but also has relatively high speed. Ablation experiments show that PSO-TSA can solve the text's shape optimization problem efficiently, and ICMN has a satisfactory merger effect.
Risk stratification based on pre-test probability may improve the diagnostic accuracy of temporal artery high-resolution compression sonography (hrTCS) in the diagnostic workup of cranial giant cell arteritis (cGCA).
A logistic regression model with candidate items was derived from a cohort of patients with suspected cGCA (
= 87). The diagnostic accuracy of the model was tested in the derivation cohort and in an independent validation cohort (
= 114) by receiver operator characteristics (ROC) analysis. The clinical items were composed of a clinical prediction rule, integrated into a stepwise diagnostic algorithm together with C-reactive protein (CRP) values and hrTCS values.
The model consisted of four clinical variables (age > 70, headache, jaw claudication, and anterior ischemic optic neuropathy). The diagnostic accuracy of the model for discrimination of patients with and without a final clinical diagnosis of cGCA was excellent in both cohorts (area under the curve (AUC) 0.96 and AUC 0.92, respectively). The diagnostic algorithm improved the positive predictive value of hrCTS substantially. Within the algorithm, 32.8% of patients (derivation cohort) and 49.1% (validation cohort) would not have been tested by hrTCS. None of these patients had a final diagnosis of cGCA.
A diagnostic algorithm based on a clinical prediction rule improves the diagnostic accuracy of hrTCS.
A diagnostic algorithm based on a clinical prediction rule improves the diagnostic accuracy of hrTCS.Since 2015, 170 small molecules, 60 antibody-based entities, 12 peptides, and 15 gene- or cell-therapies have been approved by FDA for diverse disease indications. Recent advancement in medicine is facilitated by identification of new targets and mechanisms of actions, advancement in discovery and development platforms, and the emergence of novel technologies. Early disease detection, precision intervention, and personalized treatments have revolutionized patient care in the last decade. In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview of current and emerging therapeutic modalities developed in the recent years. We focus on nine diseases in three major therapeutics areas, diabetes, autoimmune, and neurological disorders. The pathogenesis of each disease at physiological and molecular levels is discussed and recently approved drugs as well as drugs in the clinic are presented. There is scientific evidence that supports a strong association between early exposure to stressful life events and the presence of health complications throughout adulthood and, to a lesser extent, in adolescence and childhood. The aim of this study was to examine the accumulation of Psychosocial Stress Events (PSE) and the prevalence of mental disorders in children from 8 to 12 years. The association between these factors and child weight measurements was analysed. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 200 children classified by weight status (obesity, overweight and normal-weight). The assessment was carried out in primary care centres and primary schools. An experienced team carried out a structured medical-psychosocial history and a semi-structured interview aimed at identifying an early diagnosis of psychological disorders. Children filled out a questionnaire to evaluate PSE. The obesity group presented the greatest accumulation of PSE and highest prevalence of psychiatric diagnosis, compared to overweight and normal-weight children. To exceed four or more stressful events was positively associated with psychological problems and child body mass index (BMI z-score). A predictive model confirmed the interaction between a larger number of PSE and the occurrence of a psychiatric diagnosis as variables that predispose children by 26.2 times more to increased weight status. In conclusion, the accumulation of PSE in the family, school and social environments of the children was related to greater psychological distress. If not managed, the likelihood of suffering from other health complications, such as excess weight, may increase. It is important to monitor these variables to ensure positive health outcomes while specifically addressing childhood obesity. click here This is especially relevant for children from a disadvantaged social background and disharmonious family environments. The purpose of this study was to determine what patient and pulmonary vein characteristics at the diagnosis of intraluminal pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) are predictive of individual vein outcomes. A retrospective, single-center, cohort sub-analysis of individual pulmonary veins of patients enrolled in the clinical trial NCT00891527 using imatinib mesylate +/- bevacizumab as adjunct therapy for the treatment of multi-vessel pediatric PVS between March 2009 and December 2014 was performed. The 72-week outcomes of the individual veins are reported. Among the 48 enrolled patients, 46 patients and 182 pulmonary veins were included in the study. Multivariable analysis demonstrated that patients with veins without distal disease at baseline (odds ratio, OR 3.69, 95% confidence interval, CI [1.52, 8.94], p = 0.004), location other than left upper vein (OR 2.58, 95% CI [1.07, 6.19], p = 0.034), or veins in patients ≥ 1 y/o (OR 5.59, 95% CI [1.81, 17.3], p = 0.003) were at higher odds of having minimal disease at the end of the study.
