Emergence of "severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)" causing "COVID-19" or "coronavirus disease 19" as pandemic has got worldwide attention towards hygiene as the first line of defense for the infection control. It is first line of defense not only from COVID-19 but also from other infectious diseases caused by deadly pathogens such as cholera, hepatitis, tuberculosis, polio, etc. Absence of any particular vaccine or treatment let World Health Organization (WHO) recommend to the public to maintain social distancing along with regularly washing their hands with soap, sanitize their hands (where washing is not possible), and disinfect their belongings and buildings to avoid the infection. Out of various formulations available in the market, WHO has recommended alcohol-based hand sanitizers, which mainly comprise of ethanol, isopropyl alcohols, and hydrogen peroxides in different combinations due to their high potential to kill the broad range of pathogens including bacterial, viral, fungal, helminthes, etc. check details Therefore, alcohol-based sanitizers are in high demand since centuries to prevent infection from pathogenic diseases. Ethanol is the most common and popular alcohol in terms of vanishing wide range of pathogens, convenient to use and its production. Ethanol is produced worldwide and is used in various sectors, e.g., beauty and cosmetics, food and beverages, and as the most demanding gasoline additive. The present review is focused on the ethanol production in India, its diversified applications emphasizing hand sanitizers with discussions on formulation of sanitizer and disinfectants, and viability of lignocellulosic and food grain-based ethanol. The review article also emphasizes on the technological details of 1G and 2G ethanol production, their associated challenges, and inputs for the improved ethanol yields so as to strengthen the supply chain of ethanol in India, and making "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-reliant India) campaign of Indian government successfully viable.In this research, we explore the global conduct of age-structured SEIR system with nonlinear incidence functional (NIF), where a threshold behavior is obtained. More precisely, we will analyze the investigated model differently, where we will rewrite it as a difference equations with infinite delay by the help of the characteristic method. Using standard conditions on the nonlinear incidence functional that can fit with a vast class of a well-known incidence functionals, we investigated the global asymptotic stability (GAS) of the disease-free equilibrium (DFE) using a Lyapunov functional (LF) for R 0 ≤ 1 . The total trajectory method is utilized for avoiding proving the local behavior of equilibria. Further, in the case R 0 > 1 we achieved the persistence of the infection and the GAS of the endemic equilibrium state (EE) using the weakly ρ -persistence theory, where a proper LF is obtained. The achieved results are checked numerically using graphical representations.
With the Covid-19-based global pandemic that started in the beginning of 2020, the vital importance of accelerated, reliable and affordable virus testing systems has once again become clearer. Besides, we all learned very well that the disposable biochips, to be used in these in vitro diagnostic (IVD) testing systems, supposed to be produced in large amounts in a very short time to be widely available for the use of humanity to save more and more lives. That is why; roll-to-roll (R2R) polymer structuring manners offer such large quantities for the production of in vitro biochips. Our technology, based on R2R UV nanoimprint lithography (UV-NIL), has superior features. Via our pilot line, robust 7500 biochip components per 100 meter of a flexible, polymer foil coated with a UV curable photo-resin(i.e., parts with capillary fluidic channels or optical structures for IVDs) can be generated. This study shows an example of a prototype of a R2R UV-NIL generated chip a foil, capillary flow-based IVD biochip for multiplexed DNA detection purposes (i.e., a Lab-on-a-Foil device). The biochip performance was further increased dramatically by integrating UV-NIL produced retro-reflective microstructures, which reflects the light back, to its design to enhance optical signal detection in a commercial IVD device, detecting DNA on a chemiluminescent-reaction basis.
With the outbreak of COVID-19, the number of cardiac manifestations related to this virus was more remarquable, among them heart thrombus (HTh) which is considered as a rare and severe complication associated with thromboembolic phenomena.
We present case report of 4 patients who presented heart thrombus as a complication of COVID-19.
During the pandemic, these patients were presented to our center for respiratory symptoms related to COVID-19 infection. All of them was hemodynamically unstable. On further assessment, Diagnosis was confirmed by trans -thoracic echography, one patient (1/4) had left ventricle thrombus, one patient (1/4) had right atrium thrombus and right ventricle thrombus was dominated in the rest of patients (2/4). Therapeutic component was based on unfractionated heparin and fibrinolytic.
COVID-19 patients could represent a population at high risk of HTh. Multidisciplinary approach and bed routine transthoracic echography can enhance the management of this cardiac complication.

As researchers and academics around the world scramble ahead to dissect and analyse every aspect of the SARS-CoV2 virus, one such study explored the various underlying electrolyte abnormalities that were precipitated in patients suffering from a confirmed COVID-19 infection. A significant proportion of such patients were noted to be hypokalemic. Hypokalemia can be life threatening as it is known to cause cardiac arrhythmia.
Our encounter with said presentation was incidental. The on-call medical team was involved in a cardiac arrest call for a 74-year -old gentleman who developed torsades de pointes, Retrospective analysis of the clinical picture pointed out the fact that he was found to be persistently hypokalemic and bradycardic solely triggered as a result of COVID-19.
Although initially thought to be a pulmonary disease but along with time extra-pulmonary manifestations of Covid-19 has demonstrated significant consequences. Electrolyte abnormalities and cardiac dysfunction are examples of such extra-pulmonary pathologies.
