Non-Hispanic Black (NHB) emerging adult (EA) women are at disproportionate risk for obesity but experience limited benefit from behavioral weight loss (BWL) programs. Race-related stress could play a role; the goal of this study was to examine the association between racial discrimination (RD) and early (3 months) changes in adiposity, and to explore potential protective factors, among EA in an adapted BWL program.
This is an ancillary study of non-Hispanic White (NHW) and NHB EA women enrolled in an adapted BWL trial (N = 49; 55.1% NHB; Age 21.2 (2.1); BMI = 33.0 + 4.3 kg/m
). At baseline, group- and personal-level RD (RD-group and RD-personal), racial identity (NHB women only), vigilant coping, and social support were assessed via validated questionnaires. Weight and waist circumference were measured objectively at 0 and 3 months.
NHW women manifested greater reductions in waist circumference relative to NHB women (p = .004). RD-personal did not predict change in waist circumference at 3 months (p = .402); however, the association between RD-group and change in waist circumference was statistically significant (p = .015), such that reporting greater group-level discrimination predicted a smaller decrease in waist circumference; the model explained 22% of the variance. Social support and vigilant coping were not statistically significant in the model. Among NHB women only, higher racial identity-centrality predicted greater reduction in waist circumference (p = .019).
Findings suggest racial discrimination could contribute to greater cardiometabolic risk during this developmental period. Future research should examine how experiences of racial discrimination unfold in the daily lives of NHB women to inform mechanistic interventions to enhance health and well-being.

The risk of curve progression in AIS is high during a growth spurt and necessitates regular radiographic follow-up, despite the adverse effects of repeated exposure to X-rays.
The aim of this study was to determine a simple and reproducible parameter for deformity monitoring using ST in AIS patients.
Consecutive AIS patients with a Cobb angle between 10° and 40° were included. Every 6months, X-ray and ST acquisitions were performed. Radiographic parameters and the ribs prominence curve calculated from ST were collected. This curve was deduced from the axial rotation of the 100 axial sections of the trunk. We analyzed correlations between the evolution of Cobb angle and the curve.
123 patients were included, 111 girls, 12 boys, mean age 12years. The measurement of the curve had a good reproducibility (ICC 0.816). ST differentiated patients with or without increased Cobb. (p = 0.0294).
ST is useful for monitoring AIS. This device could reduce the number of radiographs by 30%.

Their ability to pass biological barriers, stability in physiological fluids without degradation, and distinctive affinity to target cells make exosomes very remarkable therapeutic vehicles. Virus-based approaches are some of the most widely used gene therapy methods; however, there are many issues need to be clarified such as high immunogenicity. Using of the exosomes procures the functional transfer of their cargo with minimal intervention from the immune system and it has been reported to be secure and well-tolerated. When the regenerative medicine is taken into consideration, stem cell-based approaches have been aimed to utilize but the general efficacy and safety profile of stem cell therapy has still not been enlightened. At this point, stem cell-derived exosomes exhibit a way to procure cell-free regenerative medicine with their unique characteristics. Exosomes are considered as appropriate and highly stable biological nano-vectors taking part in a wide variety of healthy and pathological processes for advanced targeted therapies. Thus, large-scale exosome production under good manufacturing practice is required. Further, we aim to highlight the biobanking and large-scale manufacturing methods of exosomes.Parathyroid disorders are characterized by alterations in calcium and phosphate homeostasis due to inappropriately high or low levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Despite PTH receptor type 1 has been described in almost all immune lineages and calcium signalling has been confirmed as a crucial mediator for immune response, in vitro studies on the physiological interactions between PTH and immunity are conflicting and not representative of the clinical scenarios seen in patients with parathyroid disorders. Infectious diseases are among the main causes of increased morbidity and mortality in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism and chronic kidney disease. More, immune alterations have been described in primary hyperparathyroidism. Recent studies have unveiled an increased risk of infections also in hypoparathyroidism, suggesting that not only calcium, but also physiological levels of PTH may be necessary for a proper immune response. Finally, calcium/phosphate imbalance could affect negatively the prognosis of infectious diseases.
