The huge burden of leishmaniasis caused by the trypanosomatid protozoan parasite Leishmania is well known. This illness was included in the list of neglected tropical diseases targeted for elimination by the World Health Organization. However, the increasing evidence of resistance to existing antimonial drugs has made the eradication of the disease difficult to achieve, thus warranting the search for new drug targets. We report here studies that used computational methods to identify inhibitors of receptors from natural products. The cell division cycle-2-related kinase 12 (CRK12) receptor is a plausible drug target against Leishmania donovani. This study modelled the 3D molecular structure of the L. donovani CRK12 (LdCRK12) and screened for small molecules with potential inhibitory activity from African flora. An integrated library of 7722 African natural product-derived compounds and known inhibitors were screened against the LdCRK12 using AutoDock Vina after performing energy minimization with GROMACS 2018488 was predicted as a key residue critical for ligand binding in the ATP binding pocket of the LdCRK12. The molecules were pharmacologically profiled as druglike with inconsequential toxicity. The identified molecules have scaffolds that could form the backbone for fragment-based drug design of novel leishmanicides but warrant further studies to evaluate their therapeutic potential. This study aimed to explore the cluster patterns of female nursing students' perceptions of the effects of menstrual distress during clinical practice. This study adopted the Q-methodology study design. We recruited female nursing students from a college in northern Taiwan. Forty-seven Q-statements were constructed to explore participants' experiences of the impact of menstrual distress on clinical learning. In total, 58 participants subjectively ranked Q-statements concerning menstrual distress experiences during clinical practice and were classified. After Q-sorting, the subjective ranking process PQ Method (version 2.35, Schmolck, Emmendingen, Germany) was employed for factor analysis. Four patterns of shared perspectives, accounting for 46.6% of the total variance, were identified (a) influencing clinical learning and making good use of painkillers; (b) responsible attitudes and diversified relief of discomfort; (c) seeking peer support and effect on mood; (d) negative impact on learning ability and conservative self-care. Clinical practice is a major component of nursing education; menstrual distress affects female nursing students' clinical learning and performance. The exploration of clustering different nursing students' perceptions may facilitate customized strategies to enable more appropriate assistance. There are reports indicating that myocardial dysfunction in systemic immunoglobulin light chain amyloidosis (AL amyloidosis) stems not only from the amyloid deposit in the organ but also the cardiotoxicity of the amyloid precursor free light chains (FLCs) circulating in the blood. The aim of the study is to analyze the role of sFLC κ and λ in the assessment of heart involvement and the degree of myocardial damage in AL amyloidosis. The study involved 71 patients diagnosed with primary AL amyloidosis. The relationship between sFLC concentrations and cardiac biochemical and echocardiographic parameters was assessed. The median concentrations of N-terminal pro b-type natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) and troponin I (TnI) were significantly higher in patients with amyloids formed from monoclonal λ chains compared to patients with monoclonal κ proliferation. In patients with heart involvement by amyloids formed from monoclonal FLC, the study demonstrated a statistically significant positive correlation between the concentration of monoclonal antibody λ chain and TnI (R = 0.688; p less then 0.05), NT-proBNP (R = 0.449; p less then 0.05), and the value of diastolic dimension of the interventricular septum (IVS; R = 0.496, p less then 0.05). The above data indicate that the presence of monoclonal λ chains in patients with AL amyloidosis may be associated with more severe damage to cardiomyocytes and dysfunction of the myocardium. The increasing population across the globe makes it essential to link smart and sustainable city planning with the logistics of transporting people and goods, which will significantly contribute to how societies will face mobility in the coming years. The concept of smart mobility emerged with the popularity of smart cities and is aligned with the sustainable development goals defined by the United Nations. A reduction in traffic congestion and new route optimizations with reduced ecological footprint are some of the essential factors of smart mobility; however, other aspects must also be taken into account, such as the promotion of active mobility and inclusive mobility, encouraging the use of other types of environmentally friendly fuels and engagement with citizens. The Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain and Big Data technology will serve as the main entry points and fundamental pillars to promote the rise of new innovative solutions that will change the current paradigm for cities and their citizens. Mobility-as-a-service, traffic flow optimization, the optimization of logistics and autonomous vehicles are some of the services and applications that will encompass several changes in the coming years with the transition of existing cities into smart cities. This paper provides an extensive review of the current trends and solutions presented in the scope of smart mobility and enabling technologies that support it. An overview of how smart mobility fits into smart cities is provided by characterizing its main attributes and the key benefits of using smart mobility in a smart city ecosystem. Epacadostat inhibitor Further, this paper highlights other various opportunities and challenges related to smart mobility. Lastly, the major services and applications that are expected to arise in the coming years within smart mobility are explored with the prospective future trends and scope. We present a detailed study about the substrate-induced strain and thickness effects on the structure and magnetic properties of La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 films. The in-plane tensile or compressive strain imposed by four different substrates configures an in-plane or out-of-plane easy axis, respectively. The presence of a soft magnetic phase at the interface is also conditioned by the type of strain. The obtained results are discussed in terms of the different anisotropies that participate and control the final magnetic behavior. The relevance of these results lies in the feasibility of La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 in memory applications and spintronic devices.
