A study on mass transfer using new coating materials (namely alginic acid and polygalacturonic acid) during osmotic dehydration-and hence in a laboratory-scale convective dryer to evaluate drying performance-was carried out. Potato and apple samples were examined as model heat-sensitive products in this study. Results indicate that the coating material containing both alginic acid and polygalacturonic acid causes higher water loss of about 17% and 7.5% and lower solid gain of about 4% and 8%, respectively, compared to uncoated potato sample after a typical 90 min osmotic dehydration process. Investigation of drying performance using both coating materials showed a higher reduction in the moisture content of about 22% and 18%, respectively, compared with uncoated samples after the 3 h drying period. Comparisons between the two proposed coating materials were also carried out. Samples (potato) coated with alginic acid demonstrated better performance in terms of higher water loss (WL), lower solid gain (SG), and notable enhancement of drying performance of about 7.5%, 8%, and 8%, respectively, compared to polygalacturonic acid. Similar outcomes were observed using apple samples. Additionally, an accurate model of the drying process based on the experimental dataset was created using an artificial neural network (ANN). The obtained mean square errors (MSEs) for the predicted water loss and solid gain outputs of the potato model were 4.0948e-5 and 3.924e-6, respectively. However, these values for the same parameters were 3.164e-5 and 4.4915e-6 for the apple model. The coefficient of determination (r2) values for the two outputs of the potato model were found to be 0.99969 and 0.99895, respectively, while they were 0.99982 and 0.99913 for the apple model, which reinforces the modeling phase.Sulfides existing in many high-temperature gas mixtures have a negative effect on various industrial applications. Ce-based adsorbents are becoming a hotspot in the high-temperature desulfurization process owing to their excellent thermal stability at high temperatures and regeneration capacity. In this study, we investigate the regeneration path of samarium-doped cerium (SDC) sorbent at high temperature. The SDC adsorbent showed a good sulfur removal ability and excellent regeneration capacity. Ce2O2S and Ce(SO4)2 are observed in the used adsorbent, and Ce2O2S is the main sulfur-containing species. The regeneration path of the Ce2O2S is the key to the regeneration mechanism of the adsorbent. There are two regeneration paths for the Ce2O2S at high temperature in O2/N2 gas mixture. In air stream, the Ce2O2S is oxidized to Ce2O2SO4 and then decomposes into CeO2 and SO2. In a 2% O2/N2 gas condition, the Ce2O2S directly generates CeO2 and elemental sulfur with O2 assistance.Topical corticosteroids are used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as allergic reactions, eczema, and psoriasis. Niosomes are a novel surfactant-based delivery system that may be used to deliver desoximetasone via topical product application in order to mitigate common side effects associated with traditional oral delivery routes. The aim of this research was to identify the critical material attributes (CMAs) and critical process parameters (CPPs) that impact key characteristics of drug-loaded niosomes using a systematic quality by design (QbD) approach. An organic phase injection method was developed and used to manufacture the niosomes. The CMAs were identified to be drug amount, concentrations of surfactant and cholesterol, and types of lipids. The CPPs were phase volumes, temperature, mixing parameters, and addition rate based on previous research. The quality attributes measured were entrapment efficiency, particle size distribution, PDI, and zeta potential. These were used to determine the quality target product profile (QTPP) of niosomes. The experimental data indicate that the critical impacting variables for niosomes are surfactant and cholesterol concentrations, mixing parameters, and organic-phase addition rate. Based on the experimental results of this study methanoldiethyl ether (7525) as the organic system, drugsurfactantcholesterol in 121 concentration, stearic acid as the charge-inducing material, 20 mL external phase and 10 mL internal phase volume, 65 °C external phase temperature, 60 min mixing time, 650 RPM mixing speed and 1 mL/ml addition rate is the ideal combination to achieve desirable desoximetasone niosomes with optimum entrapment efficiency and particle size for topical application. The purpose of this study was to explore the efficacy and safety of everolimus administered as a first-line treatment in newly diagnosed patients with metastatic or inoperable gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP NETs). This phase II, multicenter, single-arm study included patients with well-differentiated GEP NETs and a Ki67 less then 20%. Everolimus, at 10 mg/day, was administered until disease progression; 18 patients (72%) concomitantly received octreotide long-acting release (LAR), at 30 mg/month. The primary endpoint was the 15-month progression-free survival (PFS) rate. Twenty-five patients (grade 1 11 patients, grade 2 14 patients) were enrolled between August 2012 and October 2015. At a median follow-up of 58.1 months, the median PFS was 14.6 months, while the 15-month PFS rate was 48%; median overall survival had not been reached yet. RVX-000222 Normal baseline chromogranin A ( less then 4 nmol/l) confirmed a longer PFS (HR = 0.25, 95% CI 0.08-0.77, p = 0.016). Seven patients (28%) achieved an objective response (one complete response and six partial responses) in a median of 2.6 months. Twenty-three grade 3-4 events were recorded (14 patients). No fatal reactions occurred. This prospective phase II study unravels the notable activity of everolimus as a first-line treatment in patients with GEP NETS and contributes valuable information about the high activity of the combination of everolimus and octreotide LAR in this setting. Clinical trial information NCT01648465.Circular RNAs (circRNAs) belong to the ever-growing class of naturally occurring noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) molecules. Unlike linear RNA, circRNAs are covalently closed transcripts mostly generated from precursor-mRNA by a non-canonical event called back-splicing. They are highly stable, evolutionarily conserved, and widely distributed in eukaryotes. Some circRNAs are believed to fulfill a variety of functions inside the cell mainly by acting as microRNAs (miRNAs) or RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) sponges. Furthermore, mounting evidence suggests that the misregulation of circRNAs is among the first alterations in various metabolic disorders including obesity, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. More recent research has revealed that circRNAs also play a substantial role in the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus (DM) and related vascular complications. These findings have added a new layer of complexity to our understanding of DM and underscored the need to reexamine the molecular pathways that lead to this disorder in the context of epigenetics and circRNA regulatory mechanisms.
