Improper waste disposal and low rates of household waste diversion through material and organic waste recycling are a global concern. Understanding community perspectives on solid waste management services, outreach activities, and regulatory measures, and the barriers to sustainable practices, is crucial for designing effective waste management programmes. Longitudinal content analysis of archival data, such as newspapers, is a cost-effective, yet underutilised, research method to identify the viewpoints of diverse civic groups and examine the developments and challenges associated with the waste management sector. This paper investigates divergent stakeholders' perspectives and priorities using the Socio-Ecological Model (SEM) to examine the micro-system (intrapersonal and interpersonal), meso- and exo-system (community and institutional), and macro-system (policy level) factors that influence sustainable SWM practices. Using specific keywords, the authors searched online archives of a national newspaper in Fiji with a weekday circulation of over 20,000. Data from 482 newspaper articles, dated 2009-2020, were reviewed and dual-coded by two researchers using QDA Miner Lite. Findings indicate that poor waste management behaviour is linked to all factors within the Socio-Ecological system. While micro-level factors such as negligence, personal responsibility, lack of civic pride, and lack of awareness are causes of anti-environmental behaviour, structural factors such as inadequate waste collection services and recycling infrastructure contribute to low recycling rates. Civic education has been highlighted as a solution to encouraging pro-environmental behaviour (PEB), but there is a need to identify the type of educational tools and the frequency and impact of education workshops. This paper further discusses about the implications of community-based strategies and regulatory measures.Creating institutions to manage shared waterways at the basin scale, instead of as a patchwork of fragmented political jurisdictions, has long held attraction for water managers and political scientists. Basin-scale planning, management, and governance, the scholarly consensus runs, can promote cooperative management of shared water resources, facilitate management on an ecological rather than political basis, and better engage a diverse set of stakeholders. Yet in practice, River Basin Management (RBM) has proven difficult to institute and often produced disappointing results, being either too weak to be effective or too technocratic. The case of the Delaware River basin in the United States is a noteworthy exception. RBM in the Delaware basin has taken the form of a capable but inclusive inter-jurisdictional commission that has almost eliminated previously widespread conflict between riparian states; generally improved water quality and ecosystem protection; and empowered civil society. Yet this effectiveness stemmed from a messy political process marked by tension and competition between central, state, and local levels of government. Harnessing this tension to forge a durable, adaptable institutional framework proved to be key to the relative success of RBM in the Delaware basin, providing lessons to inform the management of shared watersheds elsewhere.Our paper proposes a novel measure of global energy market uncertainty and studies its impact on oil prices. The current literature primarily relies on a single or small number of observable variables, or general macroeconomic uncertainty (JLN) and economic policy uncertainty (EPU) indices to reflect energy market uncertainty. Using a Factor Augmented Vector Autoregression model (FAVAR), we construct time-varying global energy market uncertainty in a data-rich environment. Our estimates show variations from JLN and EPU proxies. The results reveal that real oil prices respond strongly to our proposed aggregate energy market uncertainty shocks. We also find heterogeneous responses to different types and magnitudes of uncertainty shocks. Pineapple (Ananas comosus) agroforestry systems (PAFS) form an essential constituent of the rural landscape in the Indian Eastern Himalayas and other parts of Asia. The traditional PAFS management in southern Assam is unique in that it involves shifting cultivation transitioning from native forests to a PAFS. Scarcity of information on the functioning and services in terms of species diversity and carbon storage potential in the traditional PAFS has restricted the opportunities for consideration under the nature-based solutions of climate action including REDD+. Therefore, the present study assessed the tree diversity and ecosystem carbon storage in a chronosequence from swidden agriculture through different phases of PAFS establishment. The result demonstrated that basal area in the PAFS increased with age. The most dominant species in the native forests was Palaquium polyanthum, while agricultural land use and PAFS aged 15 years it was merely 5 % less than the native forests. The traditional PAFS maintains a steady ecosystem carbon stock while reducing land use related carbon emission and providing additional co-benefits to the communities. In this study, knowledge mapping analysis was used to systematically review research in the field of EC. A scientometric analysis (1900-2020) was carried out on 2219 journal articles obtained from the Web of Science database to explore the basic characteristics, research hotspots, and research frontiers of EC research. In this context, the engineering of innovative platforms for the bio-production of chemicals from CH4 has recently emerged. The extremolyte and osmoprotectant ectoine, with a market price of ~1000€/Kg, is the industrial flagship of CH4-based bio-chemicals. This work aimed at optimizing the accumulation of ectoines using mixed microbial consortia enriched from saline environments (a salt lagoon and a salt river) and activated sludge, and biogas as feedstock. The influence of NaCl (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 %) and Na2WO4 (0, 35 and 70 μg L-1) concentrations and incubation temperature (15, 25 and 35 °C) on the stoichiometry and kinetics of the methanotrophic consortia was investigated. Consortia enriched from activated sludge at 15 °C accumulated the highest yields of ectoine and hydroxyectoine at 6 % NaCl (105.0 ± 27.2 and 24.2 ± 5.4 mgextremolyte gbiomass-1, respectively). The consortia enriched from the salt lagoon accumulated the highest yield of ectoine and hydroxyectoine at 9 % NaCl (56.6 ± 2.5 and 51.0 ± 2.0 mgextremolyte gbiomass-1, respectively) at 25 °C. The supplementation of tungsten to the cultivation medium did not impact on the accumulation of ectoines in any of the consortia. A molecular characterization of the enrichments revealed a relative abundance of ectoine-accumulating methanotrophs of 7-16 %, with Methylomicrobium buryatense and Methylomicrobium japanense as the main players in the bioconversion of methane into ectoine.

The ADAURA demonstrated the efficacy of osimertinib as adjuvant therapy in patients with resected stage IB-IIIA adenocarcinoma harboring epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. However, it is controversial whether adjuvant therapy should be applied to all these patients because of their heterogeneities. This study aimed to examine the influence of GGO and EGFR mutations on the prognosis and to identify optimal targets for the development of perioperative therapy.

Among the patients who underwent complete resection between 2003 and 2014 and had pathological stage IA3-IIA adenocarcinoma, 505 consecutive patients were examined for EGFR mutation status. The prognosis was analyzed among the clinicopathological factors including EGFR status and presence or absence of GGO.

Of the 489 patients, 193 (39.5%) showed EGFR mutations. The recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) of the EGFR mutant were slightly better than those of the EGFR wild type. There was no difference in RFS and OS between EGFR mutant and wild type in patients with GGO; however, EGFR mutant showed better OS than EGFR wild type in patients without GGO. The presence of GGO was a strong independent prognostic predictor in OS and RFS, but EGFR mutations was not predictors. In patients without GGO, EGFR mutants showed slightly higher recurrence, especially with a hazard ratio of 1.427 in stage IB.

Adenocarcinoma with GGO show a very good prognosis, so may not require adjuvant therapy. It will be necessary to further develop perioperative therapy in patients with poor prognosis.

Reconstruction of the hip for peri-acetabular oncological disease remains a challenge. The objective of this study was to summarize the evidence and identify techniques utilized for primary and metastatic tumors of the acetabulum and hemipelvis.

A systematic review of the published literature was carried out in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane databases identified relevant articles. Quality was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. The study was registered on PROSPERO.

53 papers were included, 16 were suitable for meta-analysis. 909 patients had primary and 1140 metastatic disease. 1094 patients underwent reconstruction with conventional total hip arthroplasty (with or without cup-cage or cement augmentation) or modifications of the Harrington procedure, collectively termed 'non-complex'. 928 patients underwent 'complex' reconstructions with either a modular hemipelvic, saddle, reverse snow-cone, custom-made or 3D-printed endoprosthesis. The most common complication was deep infection (11%) followed by dislocation (5%).
