Enteral nutrition (EN) therapy is a routine supportive method for patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). However, the incidence of EN intolerance is prevalent, because most ICU patients suffer intestinal mucosal barrier damage and gastrointestinal motility disorder. There is no definite index to predict EN intolerance, and the current treatment methods are not effective in alleviating EN intolerance. Gut microbiota is an important component of the intestinal micro-ecological environment, and alterations in its structure and composition can reflect changes in intestinal function and microenvironment. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of EN on the gut microbiota of ICU patients by monitoring the dynamic alterations of gut microbiota and to screen out the microbial markers that can be used to predict the incidence of EN intolerance.

One hundred ICU patients with trauma or in a period of acute stress after surgery will be enrolled, and their fecal samples will be collected at differendicting the intolerance of EN will lead us to develop a new nutrition intervention strategy for ICU patients. Furthermore, the results of this study will provide a basis for the discovery of potential probiotics used for the prevention and treatment of EN intolerance.

In recent years, many clinical studies have suggested that various Chinese patent medicines have the potential to treat functional dyspepsia (FD). This study aims to conduct a systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of different Chinese patent medicines for FD.

A comprehensive retrieval method will be executed in the following databases PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Biology Medicine disc (CBM), VIP Database, and Wanfang Database. Clinical randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of 9 Chinese patent medicines for FD are searched, and the retrieval time is from inception to October 2021. Three reviewers will screen the RCTs that meet the inclusion criteria and extract the data independently. The outcomes include total clinical efficiency, cure rate, recurrence rate, symptom score, and adverse events. Cochrane risk-of-bias tool will be carried to assess RCTs quality. The "gemtc" package and "rjags" package in R software will be used to manage data within the Bayesian framework.

The results can provide relatively objective evidence to evaluate the effectiveness of these 9 Chinese patent medicines in treating FD, which may help clinicians to develop a more effective and safer treatment plan.

This study aims to provide new options for Chinese patent medicine treatment of FD in terms of its efficacy and safety.

Endodontic mishaps during root canal treatment (RCT) are considered to be one of the most commonly encountered errors, which affect the quality of treatment and may have dangerous health implications for patients. The present study was conducted to assess the frequency and types of endodontic mishaps in root canal-treated teeth performed by undergraduate dental students.A total 404 endodontically treated teeth were performed by undergraduate dental students of King Khalid University College of Dentistry, Abha, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The radiographs of the endodontically treated teeth were studied for a period of 6 months, and the related demographic data were collected from patient files. The most commonly identified mishaps were related to obturation, where the maximum number of cases (68.1%) had under-obturated root canals. More endodontic mishaps were performed by students in level 9 education. The upper left 2nd molar teeth had a higher frequency of mishaps, and molars were found to have more access-reldom of Saudi Arabia. More endodontic mishaps were performed by students in level 9 education. The upper left 2nd molar teeth had a higher frequency of mishaps, and molars were found to have more access-related mishaps. Lastly, access-related and instrument-related mishaps had a low frequency of occurrence. The majority of endodontic mishaps found in the study sample were related to root canal obturation. The undergraduate students at level 9 were less proficient in conducting RCTs with many endodontic mishaps when compared to the cases performed by students at higher levels. The study suggests relevant guidance for dental students while performing RCTs, especially during obturation of the root canals.

Geriatric hip fracture patients often present malnutrition during admission, which leads to higher morbidity and mortality. Protein-based oral nutrition supplements may improve nutritional status. CP-690550 We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) according to the PRISMA guidelines to elucidate whether preoperative nutrition supplements can improve postoperative outcomes in geriatric hip fracture patients.

Only RCTs conducted to compare postoperative outcomes between geriatric hip fracture patients (>60 years old) receiving preoperative oral protein-based nutrition supplement (ONS group) and those who receiving regular diet (Control group) were included. PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched from inception until August, 2021. Postoperative outcomes, including complications, length of hospital stay, and in-hospital mortality, were assessed.

A total of 5 RCTs with 654 geriatric hip fracture patients (ONS group 320 subjg surgery.

Presenteeism refers to the practice of going to work despite poor health, resulting in subpar performance. link2 This study aimed to explore the impacts of smoking and alcohol consumption on workplace presenteeism based on demographic, health-related, and employment variables. The study adopted a cross sectional design with 60,051 wage workers from the database of the second and third Korean Working Conditions Surveys in 2010 and 2011, respectively. A total of 41,404 workers aged 19 years and older, who had worked for at least 1 hour in the previous week, answered the survey questions. Chi-square test as well as univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses were conducted using SPSS, version 18.0, to determine the impacts of smoking and alcohol consumption on workplace presenteeism.Of the 41,404 Korean workers, 8512 (20.6%) had experienced presenteeism in the past 12 months. There were significant differences among gender, age, educational status, income, health problems, absenteeism, shift work, night shif the impact of smoking and alcohol consumption in the workplace and build appropriate strategies and programs to help reduce these behaviors.

Functional diarrhea (FDr), one of the most common functional gastrointestinal diseases, is a kind of functional bowel disease characterized by repeated paste feces or watery feces. However, no relevant systematic review or meta-analysis has been designed to evaluate the effects of herbal acupoint application (HAA) on FDr. There is also a lack of systematic evaluation and analysis of acupoints and herbs.

We will search the following 8 databases from their inception to October 15, 2021, without language restrictions the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, PubMed, Embase, the Web of Science, the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, the Chinese Scientific Journal Database, the Wan-Fang Database, and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure. The primaryoutcome measures will be clinical effective rate, functional outcomes, and quality of life. Data that meets the inclusion criteria will be extracted and analyzed using RevMan V.5.3 software (Available at https//community.cochrane.org/help/tools-and-software/revman-5). Two reviewers will evaluate the studies using the Cochrane Collaboration risk of bias tool. We will use the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation approach to assess the overall quality of evidence supporting the primary outcomes. We will also use SPASS software (Version 19.0 (Available at https//www.ibm.com/analytics/spss-statistics-software)) for complex network analysis to explore the potential core prescription of acupoint herbal patching for FDr.

This study will analyze the clinical effective rate, bristol stool scale, number of daily bowel movements, clinical symptom scale of diarrhea, and effective prescriptions of HAA for patients with FDr.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when gastric contents flow back into the esophagus and produce symptoms. Recurrent wheezing affects the quality of life for the patient and family. The association of gastroesophageal reflux with recurrent wheezing is suggested by different studies. link3 The purpose of this study was to explore this relationship and to evaluate the outcome after appropriate treatment.A retrospective study on 85 children with recurrent wheezing, admitted in a pediatric gastroenterology regional center in Romania was performed. 24-hour continuous esophageal pH monitoring was used to evaluate the presence of gastroesophageal reflux and the results were interpreted using the Boix Ochoa score. All patients with positive score received treatment with proton pump inhibitors and they were evaluated again after 2 months.Gastroesophageal reflux was present in 71 children (83.5%), while 14 (16.5%) had a negative score, with a statistic significance (χ2 = 6.88, P = .0086, 95% confidence interval). After 2 months treatment with proton pump inhibitors, the Boix Ochoa score was still positive in 15 patients (21.
