The preparation, assembly and dynamic properties of photoswitchable bisphosphine ligands based on the stiff-stilbene scaffold are reported. Directional bonding and coordination-induced assembly allow complexation of these ligands with palladium(II), resulting in the formation of discrete metallo-supramolecular entities. While the Z isomer forms a simple bidentate metallo-macrocycle, an intricate double helicate figure-of-eight dimer is observed with the E ligand. Topologically three-dimensional complexes can thus be obtained from two-dimensional ligands. Upon irradiation with UV light, isomerization of the ligands allows control of the architecture of the formed complexes, resulting in a light-triggered modulation of the supramolecular topology. Selleckchem SHIN1 Furthermore, a mechanistic investigation unveiled the dynamic nature of the helicate chirality, where a transmission of motion from the palladium centers yields an "eight-to-eight" inversion. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. With the idea of less is more, we synthesized hexanoate-cucurbit[7]uril (CB[7]C5COONa) with multiple promising features for drug delivery. The hexanoate group integrates multiple functions. It endows CB[7]C5COONa extremely high solubility of over 600 mg mL-1 and well-defined pH-controlled release ability without sacrificing on the high binding affinity of CB[7] cavity. Based on the pH-controlled release ability, CB[7]C5COONa can be used for controlling the bioactivity of drug molecules. We anticipate that the strategy of function integration would be useful for the design of simple yet powerful drug delivery systems. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. METHODS The cases studied were from the ongoing rural cervical cancer screening in west Lucknow, India. Micronuclei counts were performed in the cervical smears of 100 LSIL cases and number of cells with micronuclei were defined as micronucleated cells (MNC) and the number of micronuclei per 1000 cells as MNC score. Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) - DNA testing was also done in 100 LSIL cases by Gene Nav qPCR test. RESULTS A high MNC score was found in 20 of the 100 LSIL cases while the counts were low in the remaining 80. Persistence of LSIL was seen in 19 of the 20 LSIL cases with high MNC score while only 6 cases showed persistence in 80 cases with low MNC score. The persistence of LSIL was very high in cases with high MNC score. The multiple high risk HPV types like 18, 31, 33 and 35 were seen in 12 of the 100 LSIL cases and a high positivity rate was seen in women with high MNC score. The persistence of LSIL was also higher with HPV positivity. CONCLUSION The study revealed correlation between high MNC score, persistence of LSIL and HPV positivity. Hence MNC score can prove to be very useful in discriminating high risk LSIL cases which are less likely to regress and possibly may progress to HSIL or carcinoma. Ab initio studies revealed the dz2 character of the magnetic orbitals of the compressed trigonal bipyramidal copper(II) ions. Ferromagnetic interactions were attributed to weak orbital overlap via the pyrazolate bridges. From the wavefunctions expansions, the ratios of the magnetic couplings was determined, which was indeterminate by magnetic susceptometry. Single-crystal EPR studies of 1 were carried out to extend the spin Hamiltonian with terms which induce zero-field splitting (zfs), namely dipolar interactions, anisotropic exchange and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions (DMI). The data were treated through both a giant-spin model and through a multispin exchange-coupled model. The latter indicated that ~62% of the zfs is due to anisotropic and ~38% due to dipolar interactions. The powder EPR data of all complexes were fitted to a simplified form of the multispin model and the anisotropic and dipolar contributions to the ground state zfs were estimated. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Internationally, teen pregnancy rates vary widely, reflecting differences in social, welfare, and health care factors in different cultural contexts. OBJECTIVES To determine whether the increased risk of adverse infant outcomes among teenage mothers varies by country, reflecting different national teenage birth rates and country-specific social/welfare policies, in Scotland (higher teenage pregnancy rates), England, New South Wales (NSW; Australia), Ontario (Canada), and Sweden (lower rates). METHODS We used administrative hospital data capturing 3 002 749 singleton births surviving to postnatal discharge between 2010 and 2014 (2008-2012 for Sweden). We compared preterm birth (24-36 weeks' gestation), mortality within 12 months of postnatal discharge, unplanned hospital admissions, and emergency department visits within 12 months of postnatal discharge, for infants born to motheaternal age-related disparities in infant outcomes; further strategies to mitigate excess risk in all countries are needed. © 2020 Authors. AIMS The present study directly compared selected and unselected adolescents on multiple measures of personality, behavioural strengths and difficulties, and achievement. SAMPLE Nine hundred seventy-three adolescents selected for high performance in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematical (STEM) fields (M = 15.23; SD = 1.11), and one thousand two hundred sixty-one unselected adolescents (M = 15.07; SD = 1.18) participated in the study. METHODS Participants completed self-report measures that assess the Big Five, the Dark Triad, and Behavioural Strengths and Difficulties. Demographic information and academic achievement in Maths and Russian were also obtained. RESULTS The observed differences in personality and behaviour traits between selected and unselected samples were negligible as measured by ANOVAs. The selected sample had on average slightly lower scores on conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, openness to experience, and subclinical narcissism, partial Eta Squared (ES) = [.
