These gaps can be articulated through several research questions, as follows. First, can we design a single-sensor, pervasive, and inexpensive system that can accurately detect lying postures? Finally, what physical configuration of the sensor system is most effective for lying posture tracking? To answer these important research questions, in this article we propose a comprehensive approach for designing a sensor system that uses a single accelerometer along with machine learning algorithms for in-bed lying posture cures.Different studies show that mixed methodology can be effective in medical training. However, there are no conclusive studies in specialist training on advanced life support (ALS). The main objective of this research is to determine if, with mixed didactic methodology, which includes e-learning, similar results are produced to face-to-face training. The method used was quasi-experimental with a focus on efficiency and evaluation at seven months, in which 114 specialist doctors participated and where the analysis of the sociodemographic and pre-test variables points to the homogeneity of the groups. The intervention consisted of e-learning training plus face-to-face workshops versus standard. The results were the performance in knowledge and technical skills in cardiac arrest scenarios, the perceived quality, and the perception of the training. There were no significant differences in immediate or deferred performance. In the degree of satisfaction, a significant difference was obtained in favour of the face-to-face group. The perception in the training itself presented similar results. The main limitations consisted of sample volume, dropping out of the deferred tests, and not evaluating the transfer or the impact. Human and animal rabies was widespread in British India, and treatment of bite victims imposed a major financial burden on the colonial Government of India. It subsequently became a driver of Pasteurism in India and globally and a key component of British colonial scientific enterprise. Efforts to combat rabies led to the establishment of a wide network of research institutes in India and important breakthroughs in development of rabies vaccines. As a result of these efforts, rabies no longer posed a significant threat to the British, and it declined in administrative and public health priorities in India towards the end of colonial rule-a decline that has yet to be reversed in modern-day India. The review also highlights features of the administrative, scientific and societal approaches to dealing with this disease in British India that persist to this day.Mandibular third molar (M3) surgical extraction may cause periodontal complications on the distal aspect of the root of the adjacent mandibular second molar (M2). Patients older than 26 years with periodontal pathology on the distal surface of the M2 and a horizontal/mesioangular impacted M3 may benefit from bone regenerative therapy at the time of surgery. In this prospective case series, an alloplastic fully resorbable bone grafting material, consisting of beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) and calcium sulfate (CS), was used for the treatment of the osseous defects after the removal of horizontal or mesioangular M3s in 4 patients older than 26 years. On presentation, the main radiological finding in all patients, indicating periodontal pathology, was the absence of bone between the crown of the M3 and the distal surface of the root of the M2. To evaluate the treatment outcome, bone gain (BG) was assessed by recording the amount of bone defect (BD) at the time of surgical removal (T0) and at the time of final follow-up (T1) 1 or 2 years post-operatively. The healing in all cases was uneventful, with no complications associated with the use of the alloplastic grafting material. Clinical and radiological examination at T1 revealed that all extraction sites were adequately restored, with significant BG of 6.07 ± 0.28 mm. No residual pathological pockets on the distal surface of the M2 were detected. Pocket depth (PD) at T1 was 2 ± 0.71 mm. Within the limitations of this case series, the results suggest that β-TCP/CS can support new bone formation at M3 post-extraction sites where bone regeneration methods are indicated, thus reducing the risk of having persistent or developing new periodontal problems at the adjacent M2.In vitro rumen fermentation systems are often adapted to forage feeding conditions, with pH values ranging in a range close to neutrality (between 6.5 and 7.0). Several attempts using different buffers have been made to control incubation pH in order to evaluate microbial fermentation under conditions simulating high concentrate feeding, but results have not been completely successful because of rapid exhaustion of buffering capacity. Recently, a modification of bicarbonate ion concentration in the buffer of incubation solution has been proposed, which, together with using rumen inoculum from donor ruminants given high-concentrate diets, allows for mimicking such conditions in vitro. It is important to consider that the gas volume recorded is in part directly produced from microbial fermentation of substrates, but also indirectly from the buffering capacity of the medium. Thus, the contribution of each (direct and indirect) gas source to the overall production should be estimated. Another major factor affecting fermentation is the rate of passage, but closed batch systems cannot be adapted to its consideration.
