Globally, multisectoral coordination for nutrition is needed to tackle multiple determinants of undernutrition and address unacceptably high rates of stunting in young children. Tanzania has strong national policies and implementation plans to strengthen multisectoral nutrition (MSN) governance, yet local actors must transcend sector silos to fully implement MSN actions in communities.

We engaged with Nutrition Officers in Regional Secretariats and District Councils to explore strategies, barriers, and facilitators for creating novel "MSN action teams."

An initial "Learning Exchange" workshop gathered input from nutrition staff in 5 regions and invited their participation in mentoring and supporting MSN collaboration. Regional Nutrition Officers piloted action teams in their districts, supporting District Nutrition Officers to create teams of 3-4 officers from relevant sectors (agriculture, community development, health, education) to plan and implement community-based activities consistent with sector ld nutrition.

Experience-based input from government officers engaged in novel community and intersectoral collaborations provided actionable guidance for putting national MSN policy into practice and leveraging the capacity of implementation staff.

Community participation has the potential to improve the effects of interventions and reduce inequalities in child growth. Multidimensional indicators capture such effects and inequalities.

The objective of this study was to measure the association between multidimensional child growth and community participation in 2 nutrition-sensitive interventions.

A Multidimensional Index of Child Growth was calculated with the 5-y-old cohort of the Vietnam Young Lives Survey. Young Lives is a unique dataset that has information on community participation in the design and implementation stages of 2 interventions a health and a water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) intervention. Community participation during the interventions was recorded retrospectively with interviews at the household level. Ordinary least-squares and quantile regressions were estimated using data on 240 children. A Multidimensional Index of Child Advantage, sex, and location (urban/rural) were included as control covariates.

A positive associith rural children, which deserves further attention.

The association between community participation and multidimensional child growth is indicative of the importance of community participation during the design phase of interventions, in particular for the nonphysical dimensions of child growth related to social and psychological factors. The benefits of participation were greater for urban children compared with rural children, which deserves further attention.Food banks and pantries provide food to millions of food-insecure households each year. However, there has been limited research to understand the extent to which they improve food security. This is a secondary, prespecified analysis of a randomized controlled trial (ClinicalTrials.gov ID NCT02569060). We examined whether an enhanced food bank intervention impacted the food security status of adults with diabetes. Using a crossover design, participants (n = 568) were randomly assigned to receive the intervention (usual pantry services plus twice-monthly diabetes-specific food boxes, diabetes self-management education, health care referrals, and glucose monitoring) or 6 mo of usual services. Results demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in food insecurity among participants following the intervention phase compared with the control phase (mean 0.49-point decrease; 95% CI 0.21, 0.77; P = 0.0006). This finding adds to evidence that the charitable food system plays an important role in mitigating short-term food insecurity for adults with diabetes.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) frequently occurs in hospitalized patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The optimal dose of anticoagulation for thromboprophylaxis in COVID-19 is unknown.

To report VTE incidence and bleeding before and after implementing a hospital-wide intensified thromboprophylactic protocol in patients with COVID-19.

On March 31, 2020, we implemented an intensified thromboprophylactic protocol consisting of 50IU anti-Xa low molecular weight heparin (LMWH)/kg once daily at the ward, twice daily at the intensive care unit (ICU). We included all patients hospitalized in a tertiary care hospital with symptomatic COVID-19 between March 7 and July 1, 2020. The primary outcome was the incidence of symptomatic or subclinical VTE and major bleeding during admission. Routine ultrasound screening for VTE was performed whenever logistically possible.

We included 412 patients, of which 116 were admitted to the ICU. Of 219 patients with standard a prophylactic dose of LMWH, 16 (7.3%) hatermediate (ICU), but not therapeutic dosed anticoagulation. This intensified thromboprophylaxis was associated with a lower risk of major bleeding compared with therapeutic dosed anticoagulation.

Pain is common during childhood cancer treatment, can persist into survivorship, and can negatively affect health-related quality of life in survivors of childhood cancers (SCCs).

The objective of this brief report was to assess pain frequency, pain-related worry, and their (unique) associations with health-related quality of life in SCCs.

One hundred eleven SCCs (52% female individuals,

age 17.67 years, range 8-25 years) completed self-report measures of pain frequency, pain-related worry, and health-related quality of life.

More than two-thirds (70%) of SCCs reported pain in the previous month (M = 1.39, SD = 1.17), and 15% reported experiencing pain often or almost always. More than one-third (39%) reported worrying about pain as a sign of cancer recurrence (M = 0.73, SD = 1.07), and 9% reported worrying about pain a lot or a whole lot. In multivariate regression models that controlled for sex, age at diagnosis, and time off treatment, both pain frequency and pain-related worry were significantlarget both the frequency of pain (eg, behavioral interventions) and pain-related worry (eg, psychoeducation and cognitive interventions) to improve health-related quality of life after childhood cancer.The dynamical nature of COVID-19 cases in different parts of the world requires robust mathematical approaches for prediction and forecasting. In this study, we aim to (a) forecast future COVID-19 cases based on past infections, (b) predict current COVID-19 cases using PM2.5, temperature, and humidity data, using four different machine learning classifiers (Decision Tree, K-nearest neighbor, Support Vector Machine, and Random Forest). Based on RMSE values, k-nearest neighbor and support vector machine algorithms were found to be the best for predicting future incidences of COVID-19 based on past histories. From the RMSE values obtained, temperature was found to be the best predictor for number of COVID-19 cases, followed by relative humidity. Decision tree models was found to perform poorly in the prediction of COVID-19 cases considering particulate matter and atmospheric parameters as predictors. Our results suggests the possibility of predicting virus infection using machine learning. This will guide policy makers in proactive monitoring and control.Iridium-catalyzed C-H borylation of CF3-substituted pyridines is described in this paper. The boronic ester group can be installed on the α, β, or γ position of pyridine by an appropriate substitution pattern. Sterically governed regioselectivity provides convenient access to a variety of CF3-substituted pyridylboronic esters. These catalytic C-H borylation reactions were carried out neatly without the use of any solvent. Several functional groups, such as halo, ester, alkoxy, amino, etc., are compatible with this methodology. High solid content GO slurry (7 wt %) was obtained by dispersing GO clay in polymer solution under high-speed mechanical stirring. A composite film with varied thickness (10-150 μm) could be fabricated in pilot scale. After an optimized thermal annealing procedure, the final product showed good conductivity, which reached 500 S·cm-1. The thin sample (thickness less then 0.1 mm) containing 10% polymer showed an enhanced EMI shielding performance of 55-65 dB. The outstanding EMI shielding efficiency as well as good suppleness and industrialized potential of thermal reduced graphene oxide polymer composite films could make a progress on their application in flexible devices as an EMI shielding material.We report that the polymerization of cyclodextrin (CD) with epichlorohydrin (ECH) dramatically increases the binding constant of CD to vanillin, from 55 to 8.4 × 103 M-1, by approximately 100 times, as determined by diffusion ordered spectroscopy (DOSY)-1H NMR. The binding constant increased with an increase of the ECH content of the polymer, although ECH polymers without CDs showed no affinity at all, suggesting that the hydrophobicity of the ECH network outside of CDs helps to enhance the binding. This increased binding constant allows CD-ECH polymers to increase the drug loading ratio, which may be one of the most critical issues for drug delivery systems.Inspired by the application of dopamine as an "anchor" and UV absorber, novel sustainable colorants with biscatecholic structure were synthesized through a simple incorporation of simple azo chromophores with dopamine. Their structures were confirmed using MS and NMR analyses, and their application on textile materials was investigated. Compared to the simple azo chromophores with almost no coloring ability on fabrics, the biscatecholic colorants could color different fabrics effectively, mainly through self-polymerization only in the presence of a trace amount of organic base at room temperature, which is environmentally friendly in terms of saving resources and alleviating chemical pollution. Meanwhile, the UV resistance of colored fabrics was enhanced significantly, showing the advantage of protecting wearers from UV damage.Glycoproteomics, or the simultaneous characterization of glycans and their attached peptides, is increasingly being employed to generate catalogs of glycopeptides on a large scale. Nevertheless, quantitative glycoproteomics remains challenging even though isobaric tagging reagents such as tandem mass tags (TMT) are routinely used for quantitative proteomics. Here, we present a workflow that combines the enrichment or fractionation of TMT-labeled glycopeptides with size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) for an in-depth and quantitative analysis of the glycoproteome. We applied this workflow to study the cellular glycoproteome of an isogenic mammary epithelial cell system that recapitulated oncogenic mutations in the PIK3CA gene, which codes for the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase catalytic subunit. As compared to the parental cells, cells with mutations in exon 9 (E545K) or exon 20 (H1047R) of the PIK3CA gene exhibited site-specific glycosylation alterations in 464 of the 1999 glycopeptides quantified. Our strategy led to the discovery of site-specific glycosylation changes in PIK3CA mutant cells in several important receptors, including cell adhesion proteins such as integrin β-6 and CD166.
