Titanium is considered to be a metal material with the best biological safety. Results We showed that Tf-Au NPs were endocytosed by AMs and were retained in the lungs to a greater extent than PEG-Au NPs. Both Au NPs acquired similar protein coronas after incubation in rat broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALf). The translocation of Au from both NPs to other organs was less than 0.5% of the instilled dose. Transferrin coating enhanced the uptake of Au NPs by primary monocyte-derived human macrophages. Conclusions We report that coating of NP surface with transferrin can target them to rat AMs and human monocyte-derived macrophages. The authors of this article work in the areas of applied animal behavior and organizational behavior management, and we are often asked for guidance and mentoring to help behavior analysts transition into our domains. Here, we offer actionable guidance for bridging the gap between behavior analysis graduate training and career paths that are not yet common for behavior analysts. Working in new practice areas involves a great deal of problem solving without much support. Thus, obtaining high-quality, in-depth training in behavior analysis is essential. We recommend building competence in a new area of practice by finding a mentor or community of practice and then seeking paid employment in that area as soon as possible. Finally, when one begins to work in a new area, it is essential to be realistic and humble. We offer practical advice for implementing each of these suggestions.Stimulus control plays a prominent role in behavior-analytic service delivery, as many discrimination skills are necessary for daily interactions. Clarification and standardization of terminology are necessary for the advancement of research and practice on stimulus control. Our purpose in writing this article is to introduce and recommend these websites.The advisory board's makeup tends to consist of professionals with domains of expertise relevant to the organization they serve. Organizations invite advisory board members to guide the organization's efforts over an extended period. Still, they do not have fiduciary, operational, or decision-making responsibilities for the organization in the way that a board of directors does. This article provides a framework for a behavior-analytic organization to (a) identify whether an advisory board would be feasible and beneficial, (b) establish an advisory board, and (c) engage and manage an advisory board to best leverage the unique skills and interests of the members. The article includes 2 examples of advisory boards to illustrate the suggested framework and recommendations.Diabetes mellitus is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States, requiring a series of complex behavior changes that must be sustained for a lifetime (e.g., counting carbohydrates, self-monitoring blood glucose, adjusting insulin). Although complex, all of these tasks involve behavior, making them amenable targets for behavior analysts. In this article, the authors describe interventions that have focused on antecedent, consequent, multicomponent, and alternate procedures for the management of diabetes, highlighting ways in which technology has been used to overcome common barriers to the use of these intensive, evidence-based interventions. Additional variables relevant to poorly managed diabetes (e.g., delay discounting) are also discussed. Future research and practice should focus on harnessing continued advances in information technology while also considering underexplored behavioral technologies for the effective treatment of diabetes, with a focus on identifying sustainable, long-term solutions for maintaining proper diabetes management. Although the ESDM is described by its authors as being rooted in applied behavior analysis (ABA), some states, agencies, and scholars consider the ESDM to qualify as ABA practice, whereas others do not. The purpose of this article is to examine the status of the ESDM in relation to the 7 dimensions established by Baer, Wolf, and Risley ("Some Current Dimensions of Applied Behavior Analysis," Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 1(1) 91-97, 1968) to define applied behavior-analytic research and intervention, as well as to discuss implications for the field.To remain in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, U.S. health care providers are required to register for a National Provider Identifier (NPI). When applying for an NPI, providers must select the Healthcare Provider Taxonomy Code(s) that most closely describes the services they offer. Three distinct taxonomies describe the services offered by behavior analysts. Two of these codes, the Behavior Analyst (103K00000X) and the Assistant Behavior Analyst (106E00000X) taxonomies, specify that the health care provider must hold either a certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board or a state-issued credential to practice behavior analysis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the concordance between health care providers who utilize these behavior-analytic NPI taxonomy classifications and health care providers who meet the credential qualifications specified in the code descriptions. Results indicated that there are potentially more than 20,000 U.S. health care providers who do not hold the behavior analyst credentials specified in the taxonomy descriptions linked to their accounts. The implications of providers being mistakenly classified as credentialed behavior analysts and credentialed assistant behavior analysts in federal data and how the field should respond are discussed.The present study evaluated the effectiveness of noncontingent reinforcement combined with extinction in the treatment of perseverative speech of an 11-year-old boy with autism spectrum disorder. Following a functional analysis that suggested perseverative speech was maintained by attention, treatment was introduced and consisted of delivering attention on a fixed-time schedule and placing perseverative speech on extinction. The intervention resulted in a 98.5% decrease in perseverative speech, which maintained over a 28-month period.Tactile stimulation can be used to privately prompt or provide feedback for a variety of behaviors. However, technological limitations have primarily resulted in narrow investigations of tactile stimulation delivered on a time-based schedule by a device like a MotivAider or WatchMinder. Recent advances in smartphone and watch technologies have created new ways for practitioners to deliver tactile stimulation privately and remotely to improve behavior. The purpose of this Brief Report is to provide a case study and a description of the advantages and applications of utilizing this technology, including preserving the privacy and dignity of clients by covertly improving performance; prompting behavior based on environmental events independent of scheduled times; delivering feedback quickly, quietly, and remotely without interrupting interactions; and fading dependencies on tactile prompting and feedback.
