Isolates comprised Staphylococcus aureus in 40% of cases (2/5), Staphylococcus epidermidis in 60% (3/5) and Staphylococcus Warneri in 20% (1/5). Three patients showed fistula. Three were under immunosuppression/immunomodulation treatment.

At a mean 40 months' follow-up (range 24-60 months), 4 patients (80%) were free of infection and 1 showed signs of persistent infection. Mean range of flexion-extension was 81° (range 60-95°) and pronation-supination 128° (range 80-160°). Mean Mayo Elbow Performance Score was 75 points (range 65-90). There were 2 intraoperative fractures and 1 neurologic deficit with partial regression.

One-stage exchange provided control of infection in 80% of cases, despite cutaneous fistulae or immunosuppression treatment. Clinical results and complications rate were similar to those reported for 2-stage exchange.

While joint aspiration is the benchmark for diagnosing periprosthetic joint infections (PJI), the results can be flawed because certain bacteria are difficult to culture, the patient is on concurrent antibiotic therapy or in some cases, repeated joint aspirations confer conflicting results. The BJI InoPlex™ (Diaxonhit) is a multiplex ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) that measures the immune response (presence of specific IgG) to certain bacterial species from three families Staphylococcus (8 antigens)epidermidis, aureus and lugdunensis, Streptococcus B (4 antigens) and Cutibacterium acnes (4 antigens). This assay is done with peripherally collected blood. However, there are few published studies about this assay, especially if the microbiological diagnosis is in doubt in cases of suspected chronic PJI. This led us to conduct a retrospective study in a French tertiary care center to determine 1) the sensitivity and specificity of the BJI InoPlex™, 2) its positive (PPV) and negative predictive value l situations. In this study, we used the test in the most difficult situations possible and on a small number of patients, which may explain why the results were not as good as in other studies. Its current performance and cost mean there is no role for it in our algorithm for treating patients with a suspected PJI, contrary to other biomarkers. Its spectrum must include other bacterial strains involved in chronic PJI. Knowledge of the specific infectious agent increases its diagnostic value, it could be used to monitor the outcome of a PJI, although other studies would be needed to support this use.

The gold standard (GS) for treating chronic infections following reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) is a complete exchange of the prosthesis carried out in one or two stages. This surgical procedure, which may damage the bone stock, can result in poor functional outcomes due to intraoperative complications. The purpose of this study was to compare the GS to a surgical technique that retained osseointegrated implants the partial one-stage exchange.

Partial one-stage exchange was effective in treating chronic infections after RTSA (no recurrent infection) and resulted in better functional outcomes than the GS.

This retrospective single-center study included 18 patients with chronic infection after a primary RTSA. Two treatments were compared in a non-randomized fashion. The first included 11 patients who underwent a partial one-stage exchange with implant retention in case of macroscopic osseointegration. The second included seven patients who were treated with the GS six patients with a complete uired.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructive surgery is one of the most common ligament-related surgeries performed in France. The French Society of Anesthesia & Intensive Care Medicine (SFAR) recommends the systematic use of low-molecular weight heparin postoperatively to prevent venous thromboembolisms (VTE). However, these recommendations differ from one country to another; several national societies do not recommend them. To specify the benefits of such a treatment, we did a retrospective case-control study to evaluate the incidence of symptomatic VTE after ACL reconstruction. Hypothesis We hypothesized that the rate of symptomatic VTE would be the same, whether a course of postoperative anticoagulants is prescribed or not.

This was a retrospective, multicenter, multi-surgeon study. Of the four participating surgeons, two never prescribed thromboprophylaxis after surgery while the other two always prescribed a 10-day course of low-molecular weight heparin. All patients who underwent primary ACLospective case-control study).

III (retrospective case-control study). The recognition power and affinity pattern of various cyclodextrins (CD) towards the enantiomers of tetrahydrozoline (THZ) were studied using capillary electrophoresis (CE). As expected, affinity of THZ enantiomers and selectivity of recognition towards CD derivatives was strongly dependent on the cavity size and substituent type and pattern on the CD rims. Not only were the affinity strength and selectivity of recognition affected by the size of the cavity and chemistry of the CDs but also the affinity pattern. Another interesting example of opposite affinity pattern of enantiomers towards α- and β-CD was observed here. In addition, opposite affinity pattern of THZ enantiomers was seen towards β-CD and its acetylated derivatives, while methylation of β-CD did not affect the affinity pattern of THZ enantiomers. In order to get more information about structural mechanisms of the multivariate dependences mentioned above, rotating frame Overhauser enhancement spectroscopy (ROESY) and computation techniques were used. Significant differences between the structure of THZ complexes with different CDs with both methods were encountered. SR1 AhR antagonist Good correlations between experimentally determined and computed structure of complexes, as well as between computed complex stabilities and enantiomer migration order (EMO) in CE were observed.
