using radiochromic films. Utilizing active detectors instead of films simplifies the QA process and saves time without loss of accuracy.Experiments and models suggest that climate affects mosquito-borne disease transmission. However, disease transmission involves complex nonlinear interactions between climate and population dynamics, which makes detecting climate drivers at the population level challenging. By analysing incidence data, estimated susceptible population size, and climate data with methods based on nonlinear time series analysis (collectively referred to as empirical dynamic modelling), we identified drivers and their interactive effects on dengue dynamics in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Climatic forcing arose only when susceptible availability was high temperature and rainfall had net positive and negative effects respectively. By capturing mechanistic, nonlinear and context-dependent effects of population susceptibility, temperature and rainfall on dengue transmission empirically, our model improves forecast skill over recent, state-of-the-art models for dengue incidence. Together, these results provide empirical evidence that the interdependence of host population susceptibility and climate drives dengue dynamics in a nonlinear and complex, yet predictable way.Monitoring the pH in tumor lesions provides abundant physiological information. However, currently developed pH sensors only achieve sensitive detection in the settled response region around the pH transition point (pHt ). PDGFR 740Y-P molecular weight To realize tumor pH monitoring with high sensitivity within a wider response region, reported here are serial pHt adjustable sensors (pTAS) that simply regulate the component ratio of second near-infrared (NIR-II) emission aza-BODIPY (NAB) donor and pH sensitive rhodamine-based pre-acceptor (NRh) in Förster resonance energy transfer system. Combining the pH response regions of pTAS, a twofold widened pH detection range (6.11-7.22) is obtained compared to the pHt settled sensor (6.38-6.94). With an adjustable pHt , in vivo tumor pH increase and decrease processes could be dynamically visualized through dual-channel ratiometric bioimaging within the NIR-II window, with a coefficient of variation under 1 % compared to the standard pH meter.

Pre-appointment written materials, including letters and leaflets, are commonly used by healthcare organisations to deliver professional-patient interactions. The written materials potentially change patients' knowledge and behaviour as part of a healthcare intervention but have received little investigation.

To describe the content of pre-appointment written materials through a behaviour change intervention perspective.

Mixed methods study with an online questionnaire about pre-appointment written materials and an analysis of actual materials. Questionnaire data were analysed descriptively and pre-appointment materials by qualitative framework analysis.

Children's community/outpatient occupational therapy, physiotherapy and/or speech and language therapy services across the UK. Service managers/clinical leads provided data.

Questionnaire responses were received from n=110 managers/clinical leads from n=58 NHS organisations. Written materials (n=64) were received highlight the importance of the topic and contributed to the final research design and methods.

Capsicum annuum L. cv Senise is a sweet pepper containing health promoting compounds that can be modified by ripening and drying. This study focuses on finding the peppers with the best antioxidant properties, which are evaluated on an experimental model of obesity.

Phytochemical profile and antioxidant activity are evaluated on several peppers obtained from the same cultivar at different ripening stages. Red sweet peppers show the highest content in polyphenols, β-carotene, lycopene, and capsinoids, and demonstrate the best antioxidant activity in vitro. Mice fed a high fat diet are orally treated with an extract from these peppers (Capsicum annuum extract [CAE]) (1, 10, and 25mg/kg/day). It promotes weight loss and improves plasma markers related to glucose and lipid metabolisms. CAE also ameliorates obesity-associated systemic inflammation reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines in adipose and hepatic tissues and improving the expression of different markers involved in the gut epithelial barrier function. These effects are associated with a modulation of the intestinal microbiome, which appears altered.

The extract can be considered a new potential approach for the treatment of obesity, complementary to dietary restrictions.

Citrate-aided coprecipitation decelerated the crystallization, assembling cubic-shaped powder based on separation between nucleation and growth. This study revealed that coprecipitation temperature determined the electrochemical performance. With lower temperatures, smaller particles with more water were formed by predominant nucleation, resulting in low crystallinity and capacity of 58 mAh g-1 . Expanded surface area reduced electrode/electrolyte interface charge-transfer resistance and showed excellent rate capability (79 % of initial capacity at 100 C-rate). However, poor cyclability was obtained. At elevated temperatures, nuclei growth and dehydration occurred, and thus highly crystalline large particles were formed. In turn, NiHCF delivered excellent capacity of 76 mAh g-1 at 1 C-rate but exhibited inferior rate performance because of longer diffusional path. Meanwhile, normal coprecipitation at 70 °C induced irregular-shaped tiny particles, presenting 93 % retention of initial capacity at 100 C-rate.

There are no pediatric norms for gastric emptying (GE) measured by nuclear scintigraphy. The

C-labeled, stable isotope GE breath test (GEBT) is a non-radioactive alternative. We aimed to determine normative GEBT ranges in a cohort of healthy children and examine the influence of age, gender, puberty, and body surface area (BSA).

Healthy children ages 8-18years completed the [

C]-Spirulina platensis GEBT after an overnight fast. Breath samples were collected at baseline, every 15min×1h, then every 30min for 4h total. The

CO

excretion rate was determined by the change in

CO

/

CO

over time in each breath sample, expressed as kPCD (Percent

C Dose excreted/min). A mixed model with random time was used for multivariable analysis and outcome fit into a quadratic model.

The 100 subjects completed the test meal within allotted time. Median (IQR) age was 13.5 (11.3-15.5) years; 51% were female. Females had lower

CO

excretion rates (slower GE) than males across time (p<0.001) while decreased excretion rates correlated with higher BSA (p=0.
