Given the poor prognosis of MYC-overexpressing diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and B cell lymphoma unclassifiable with features intermediate between DLBCL and Burkitt lymphoma/high grade B cell lymphoma (BCLU/HGBL), and preclinical data suggesting that MYC may regulate the antitumor immune response, we sought to characterize expression of immune checkpoint proteins on tumor tissue from patients diagnosed with these lymphomas. Immunohistochemical staining for immune checkpoint protein expression was applied to 56 cases of MYC-overexpressing DLBCL and BCLU/HGBL, 35 of which also harbored MYC rearrangement (MYC-R). Analysis revealed both frequent overexpression of immune checkpoint proteins as well as differences in overexpression patterns based upon MYC-R status, with MYC-R cases more likely to overexpress PD-L1 and PD-1 in the tumor microenvironment (50 vs. 15%, p = 0.02 and 32 vs. 5%, p = 0.02, respectively) but less likely to overexpress CTLA-4 and CD80 on tumor cells (34 vs. 71%, p = 0.01 and 34 vs. 81%, p = 0.001, respectively), as compared to cases without MYC-R. These data may suggest a biologic rationale for investigation of the effect of checkpoint inhibitor therapies in these subgroups of MYC-overexpressing DLBCL and BCLU/HGBL.

Study aimed to assess short- and long-term impact of unilateral cochlear implantation in children on the angular vestibulo-ocular reflex using rotatory chair test.

Two groups; A (early postoperative evaluation) and B (later on evaluation) were included, each consisted of 23 cochlear implant candidates' children with unilateral implant surgeries were performed in El-Galaa Hospital, Cairo, Egypt. They were assessed by rotatory chair test; sinusoidal harmonic acceleration paradigm. Three parameters average gain, asymmetry, and phase results of each group were compared with the manufacturer's norms and with each other. Further analysis by comparing each group implanted side specific gain results with the same group non-implanted side specific gain and with the other group implanted side specific gain results.

Group A versus norms showed only significant differences in average gain and phase at 0.02Hz and 0.01Hz test frequencies respectively. However, three parameters in group B showed no significant differences when compared with norms. When comparing the results of both groups relieved significant differences only in average gain at 0.02Hz and in phase at both 0.01Hz and 0.04Hz. Comparing specific gain results for both sides of group A showed significance at 0.32Hz test frequency, while those of group B showed no significant differences. The analysis of implanted sides gain results of both groups showed differences at 0.16Hz and 0.32Hz.

Currently, the success rate for treating neuropathic pain has been very low. This study investigated the antinociceptive effects of orally administered low dose lead acetate in sciatic nerve ligated Wistar rats. Thirty Wistar rats randomly divided into five groups were used for this study. Chronic constriction injury (CCI) was used to induce neuropathic pain in Wistar rats. Allodynic and hyperalgesic signs were investigated using von Frey filaments and hotplate, respectively. Morris water maze test was used to assess the memory functions of the rats. The study revealed that oral administration of low-dose lead acetate significantly (p  less then  0.05) increased pain thresholds of ligated rats. CCI enhanced memory function in Wistar rats which was significantly decreased following lead acetate administration. The findings suggest that lead acetate possesses antinociceptive effects in peripherally induced neuropathic pain model in Wistar rats.The nitrogen-fixing bacterial strain UFLA 01-1174T was isolated from nodules of Campsiandra laurilifolia Benth. originating from the Amazon region, Brazil. Its taxonomic position was defined using a polyphasic approach. Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene placed the strain in the Bradyrhizobium genus, the closest species being B. guangdongense CCBAU 51649T and B. guangzhouense CCBAU 51670T, both with 99.8% similarity. Multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) of recA, gyrB, glnII, rpoB, atpD, and dnaK indicated that UFLA 01-1174T is a new species, most closely related to B. Tacrolimus mw stylosanthis BR 446T (94.4%) and B. manausense BR 3351T (93.7%). Average nucleotide identity (ANI) differentiated UFLA 01-1174T from the closest species with values lower than 90%. The G + C content in the DNA of UFLA 01-1174T is 63.6 mol%. Based on this data, we conclude that the strain represents a new species. The name proposed is Bradyrhizobium campsiandrae, with UFLA 01-1174T (= INPA 394BT = LMG 10099T) as type strain.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) tends to affect multiple organs and induce abnormal laboratory parameters. We designed this study to investigate the association between carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) elevation and SARS-CoV-2 infection.

We retrospectively analyzed 177 patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection who received plasma CEA assays during hospitalization. Patients with other causes of CEA elevation were excluded. Data regarding epidemiological and demographical characteristics, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and outcomes were analyzed. Linear regression analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between CEA levels and inflammation severity.

171 patients were included in the final study and 32 patients (18.7%) had raised serum of CEA (> 5ng/ml), with a median (range) age of 66 (53-86). The median [interquartile range (IQR)] CEA level was 11.4ng/ml (8.1-21.6), which was significantly higher than the upper limit of reference range. CEA level between 5-10ng/ml was in 11 patients, 10-15ng/ml in 10 patients, and > 15ng/ml in 11 patients.
