The modified fractal model thus provides an alternative view of how fillers contribute to the small- and large-deformation mechanical behavior of filled colloidal gels in a manner consistent with experimental observations.Graphene-based materials with porous microstructure have attracted immense attentions due to their wide application in microwave absorption. However, constructing magnetic film with both porous microstructure and uniform pore size by using traditional methods still remains a challenge. To overcome this problem, we reported a facile strategy of molecular layer deposition (MLD) for successfully fabrication of the hybrid-architecture of porous graphene foams and nitrogen-doped porous Fe2O3 films. The surfaces of porous graphene foams are uniformly covered by porous Fe2O3 films without aggregation and the pore structures are widely distributed. read more The porous graphene-based composites exhibit remarkably enhanced microwave absorption performance compared to the pristine graphene foams. The minimum reflection loss value is increased by approximately 8 times, reaching -64.36 dB with a thickness of only 2.18 mm. More importantly, the absorption property can be precisely modulated by tuning the MLD cycle numbers and effective absorption bandwidth covers 3.04-18.0 GHz by adjusting the thickness from 1.0 to 5.0 mm. This work provides new insights for exploring novel and high-performance graphene-based microwave absorbents and offers a new idea to rationally design three-dimensional composites with porous magnetic films.

Research suggests that the disruptions introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic have led to increased psychological distress and time spent on digital technology among young people, thus intensifying pre-pandemic concerns regarding the putative effects of digital technology use on mental health. To robustly examine whether increases in digital technology use are associated with increases in psychological distress during the pandemic it is crucial to (1) collect objective data on digital technology use and (2) account for potential confounding caused by pandemic-related stressors.

We conducted a four-wave panel study of U.S. young adults (N=384; M

=24.5 ± 5.1; 57% female) from August-November of 2020. Participants provided screenshots of their iPhone "Screen Time" application and completed measures assessing current mental health status (depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation) and pandemic-related impacts on well-being. We used random-intercept multilevel models to examine the within- and between-person associations between mental health, objective digital technology use, and pandemic-related stressors.

Multilevel analyses revealed that none of the objectively-measured digital technology use variables were positively associated with depression, anxiety, or suicidal ideation at the within- or between-person levels. In contrast, pandemic-related impacts on mental health had by far the largest effects on depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation.

The convenience-based sample and use of single-item measures of pandemic-related impacts are limitations of the study.

Current speculations about the direct harms of digital technology use on mental health may be unfounded and risk diverting attention from a more likely cause pandemic-related distress.

The occurrence of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) in patients with spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) raises difficult practical questions regarding the management of the two conditions. The first-line therapy for CVT is anticoagulation (AC); however, its potential benefit in SIH/CVT patients, especially if complicated by subdural haematoma, must be carefully evaluated taking account of the intracranial haemorrhage risk. Venous system recanalization and good prognosis in SIH/CVT patients treated with epidural blood patch (EBP), the main treatment option for SIH, have been already described.

We reviewed our cases of SIH complicated by CVT among a cohort of 445 SIH patients observed and treated during the last years. All published case reports and case series reporting patients with SIH and CVT were also ascertained and reviewed.

Eight (2%) out of 445 patients suffering with SIH, were also diagnosed with CVT. All patients observed had orthostatic headache, three of them experienced a change in their headache pattern over the SIH course. Six out of eight patients received both AC and EBP treatments. Two patients were treated using only AC or EBP. A bilateral subdural haematoma enlargement after 1month of AC was observed in one case. Complete CVT recanalization after treatment was obtained in three patients, including two with multiple CVT at baseline; partial CVT recanalization was achieved in two patients. Three patients experienced no CVT recanalization. After 6-48months' follow-up all patients were still asymptomatic.

The use of AC therapy should be weighed against the intracranial haemorrage risk and should be monitored carefully if initiated. Effective and prompt EBP, even without AC therapy, might lead to a good prognosis in selected cases.

In this study, the promotion of growth and settlement on the larvae of oyster Crassostrea angulata was observed at an environmentally relevant concentration (10 μg/L Cu). Interestingly, Cu accumulation in the soft tissue of oyster larvae increased during the larval development and exhibited a sharp increase at the late pelagic stage. With the help of RNA-seq, we constructed a high-quality transcriptional database of the oyster C. angulata larvae (24,257 genes with an average length of 1594 bp) via de novo assembly, which provided the basic molecular changes during the larval development. Network analysis of five early developmental stages and differential expression under Cu exposure were integrated to examine the roles of Cu in oyster larvae. Our molecular analysis demonstrated that both ion channels and organic transporters contributed to Cu internalization from the external environment, including zinc transporters and amino acid transporters.
