acenta, the development of fetal vascular system and the insulin resistance itself.

Over the last few decades, interest in the role of iron status in pulmonary hypertension (PH) has grown considerably due to its potential impact on symptoms, exercise capacity (as assessed by the 6-minute walk distance [6MWD]), prognosis, and mortality. The aim of the present study was to identify iron deficiency (ID) prevalence in specific precapillary PH subgroups of Romanian patients and its short-term impact on 6MWD.

Complete datasets from 25 precapillary PH adults were examined and included in the analysis. Data were collected at baseline and after continuous follow-up of an average of 13.5 months. Enrolled patients were assigned to group 1 (pulmonary arterial hypertension) or subgroup 4.1 (chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension), and individualized targeted therapy was prescribed. General characteristics, World Health Organization functional class, 6MWD, pulse oximetry, laboratory parameters, and echocardiographic and hemodynamic parameters were recorded. NIK SMI1 clinical trial Ferritin values and transferrin saturogies.

The results of this study demonstrate that 1.4.1 subgroup PAH patients have an increased prevalence of ID compared with other etiologies. ID has a negative impact on the functional status (assessed by 6MWD), in specific groups and subgroups of patients with precapillary PH, albeit not independently nor significant to other known predictors such as age, gender, oxygen saturation, and hemoglobin value. These data can be integrated with global research and are consistent with phenotypes of patients diagnosed with PH of different etiologies.

This study investigated clinicians' perspectives on the feasibility and effectiveness of using telemedicine in the context of providing first aid. It is crucial to identify and explore clinicians' attitudes and awareness of tele-first-aid in China to keep pace with ongoing global trends.

This was a qualitative study. Data gathered from in-depth interviews with 22 clinicians were coded into themes and analyzed.

Participants included hospital-based clinicians four clinical specialists, eight emergency nurses, four emergency doctors, three general practitioners, and three clinical administrators.

The study was conducted in university-affiliated hospitals.

All clinicians who were invited to participate believed that the use of telemedicine in first aid was promising and effective. Participants stated that relevant technology should be designed to synergize the chain of existing platforms in the industry and that it should be determined who has the authority to utilize such technology and how it should be used to achieve the sought-after benefits. The use of such technology refreshes the role of clinicians and their relationship with patients. Additionally, participants believed that the government could play an important role especially in the reform of medical systems.

Telemedicine can facilitate the provision of conventional first aid and systematically exploit existing resources due to its feasibility and effectiveness. The social benefits of using tele-first-aid in clinical and community applications, especially when used in coordination with existing resources, make its adoption an inevitable trend in the field.

Basilar artery tip aneurysms can have fatal consequences and poor prognostic outcomes in case of rupture. We investigated the standard parameters used to evaluate aneurysmal morphology to predict aneurysm rupture.

We measured the differences between ruptured and unruptured basilar bifurcation aneurysms in terms of morphological features, including aneurysm size, size ratio, aneurysm height, perpendicular height, aneurysm width, bottleneck ratio, aspect ratio, and present daughter domes, using 3D angiography.

Among 34 patients, 21 (61.8%) and 13 (38.2%) had ruptured and unruptured basilar tip aneurysms, respectively. In the ruptured group, the mean aneurysm size, and aspect, size, and bottleneck ratios were 6.8 ± 1.9 mm, 3.2 ± 1.0, 2.3 ± 0.5, and 2.2 ± 0.4, respectively, compared to 4.5 ± 1.5 mm, 4.4 ± 2.0, 1.6 ± 0.4, and 2.7 ± 0.7, respectively, in the non-ruptured group. Univariate analysis showed a larger aneurysmal cross-sectional diameter (odds ratio [OR], 0.50; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.5-5.392; p < 0.05), a larger size ratio (OR, 21.375; 95% CI, 3.283-139.177; p < 0.05), and presence of a daughter dome (OR, 72.0; 95% CI, 6.7-776.5; p < 0.05) with ruptured basilar artery tip aneurysms.

A larger aneurysm size and size ratio, and the presence of a daughter dome were significantly associated with increased rupture risk in basilar tip aneurysms.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is considered a risk factor for poor outcomes in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, data on the prognostic impact of radiological emphysema extent on patients with COVID-19 are limited. Thus, this study aimed to examine whether computed tomography (CT)-quantified emphysema score is associated with a worse clinical outcome in patients with COVID-19.

Volumetric quantitative analyses of CT images were performed to obtain emphysema scores in COVID-19 patients admitted to four tertiary referral hospitals in Daegu, South Korea, between February 18 and March 25, 2020. Patients were divided into three groups according to emphysema score (emphysema score ≤1%, 1%< emphysema score ≤5%, and emphysema score >5%).

A total of 146 patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection were included. The median emphysema score was 1.0% (interquartile range, 0.5-1.8%). Eight patients (6%) had a previous COPD diagnosis. Eighty (55%), 55 (38%), and 11 (8%) patients had emphysema scores ≤1%, between 1% and 5%, and >5%, respectively.
