Dapone and atovaquone are therapeutic options for PJP prophylaxis in renal transplant recipients. The objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence of anemia in renal transplant recipients receiving these agents.

This is an IRB-approved, retrospective analysis of adult renal transplant recipients who received either dapsone or atovaquone. The primary endpoint was the change in hemoglobin within 90days of drug initiation. Other endpoints of interest included incidence and management of anemia at multiple time points post-transplant. Categorical variables were compared with Pearson's chi-squared or Fischer's exact test and continuous data were compared utilizing Wilcoxon rank-sum test. Statistical analyses were performed using Stata 14.2.

A total of 478 patients were screened for inclusion; 50 patients were evaluated in both the dapsone and atovaquone groups. In the dapsone and atovaquone groups, the median age was 52 and 50.5years, 44% and 42% were Caucasian, and median time to treatment initiation was 27 and 39days post-transplant, respectively. All patients receiving dapsone had normal G6PD function. There was no difference in baseline hemoglobin between groups (9.7g/dL vs 9.8g/dL, P=.83). The median nadir hemoglobin values were 8.6g/dL and 9.6g/dL in the dapsone and atovaquone groups, respectively (P=.047). The median decrease in hemoglobin from baseline to nadir was 1.3g/dL in dapsone patients and 0.2g/dL in atovaquone patients (P=.001). Dapsone was discontinued in 46% of patients, whereas atovaquone was discontinued in 18% (P=.001).

This study aims to explore the prevalence rates of stigma and fear among people in Jordan during COVID-19 pandemic and to assess socio-demographic and personal factors contributing to the prevalence rates of fear and stigma among people in Jordan during COVID-19 pandemic.

Cross-sectional descriptive design was utilized to attain the study aim. An anonymous online survey targeting people of Jordan was used and distributed to adults in Arabic language. The survey included a previously validated fear scale. Stigma was measured using developed instrument by authors.

The prevalence of fear among study participants was 52%. In addition, the prevalence of stigma towards infected people and their contact was 64%. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical and demographic characteristics of asymptomatic COVID-19 cases incidentally diagnosed at the emergency department.

This study retrospectively analysed the medical data of patients who presented to the emergency department, between March 1 and May 1, 2020, without COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, myalgia on admission but were incidentally detected to have thoracic computerised tomography (CT) findings suggestive of COVID-19. The double mutant mlk4-3 flc-3 flowered earlier than mlk4-3, suggesting that functional FLC is crucial for flowering repression in mlk4-3. Chromatin immunoprecipitation assays showed that MLK4 bound to FLC/MAF chromatin and that H3T3ph occupancy at the promoter of FLC/MAF was negatively associated with its transcriptional level. In accordance, H3T3ph accumulated at FLC/MAF in 35SMLK4/mlk4-3 but diminished in 35SMLK4(K175R)/mlk4-3 plants. Moreover, the amount of RNA Pol II deposited at FLC/MAF was clearly enriched in mlk4-3 relative to the wild type. Therefore, MLK4-dependent phosphorylation of H3T3 contributes to accelerating flowering by repressing the transcription of negative flowering regulator FLC/MAF. This study sheds light on the delicate control of flowering by the plant-specific CK1, MLK4, via post-translational modification of histone H3.
