The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) or corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a currently ongoing global pandemic. Children tend to show milder symptoms of infection compared to adults. Concurrently, in April 2020, there was reported an escalation of Kawasaki cases like disease in children treated in the intensive care unit and showing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) SARS CoV-2 positive. Those children had a hyperinflammatory response, which caused the failure of multi-organ and shock. Several countries have reported similar cases since then. Here we describe a case of a patient with COVID-19 and concurrent dengue infection presenting MIS-C. A 6-year-old male with no past medical history looked pale with fatigue and brought to an emergency room from a referral hospital. The patient presented with fever, acute abdominal pain, shock, and deteriorate quickly, confirmed with the serology of SARS CoV-2 IgM was reactive, serology of anti-dengue IgM was reactive and PCR SARS CoV-2 was negative. Possibly it is MIS-C coinfection with severe unusual dengue infection or MIS-C with false-positive dengue serologic test leading to a fatal outcome.•Pandemics are more than just pathological medical phenomenon•Lockdown is helping countries to flatten the epidemic curve•World Health Organization is stressing upon #HealthyAtHome hash tag.Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) has achieved remarkable growth in the past few decades since it takes advantage of both optical and ultrasound (US) imaging. In order to better promote the wide clinical applications of PAI, many miniaturized and portable PAI systems have recently been proposed. Rilematovir Most of these systems utilize fiber optic technologies. Here, we overview the fiber optic technologies used in PAI. This paper discusses three different fiber optic technologies fiber optic light transmission, fiber optic US transmission, and fiber optic US detection. These fiber optic technologies are analyzed in different PAI modalities including photoacoustic microscopy (PAM), photoacoustic computed tomography (PACT), and minimally invasive photoacoustic imaging (MIPAI).

Medical staff may have difficulties in using conventional medicine to manage symptoms among terminally ill patients, including adverse effects of the treatment. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is regarded as a complementary or alternative medicine, and has been increasingly used in the field of palliative medicine in recent years. This study aimed to investigate the experiences of and attitudes toward using TCM among palliative care professionals, and to provide preliminary information about its use in palliative care.

This was a cross-sectional survey study conducted in eight inpatient hospice wards in Taiwan between December 2014 and February 2016. The questionnaire was self-administered, and was analyzed with descriptive statistics including Pearson's Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test.

A total of 251 palliative care professionals responded to the questionnaire, of whom 89.7% and 88.9% believed that the use of TCM could improve the physical symptoms and quality of life in terminally ill patients, respectively. Overall, 59.8%, of respondents suggested that TCM had rare side effects, and 58.2% were worried that TCM could affect the liver and kidney function of patients. In total, 89.7% and 88.0% of professionals agreed there were no suitable clinical practice guidelines and educational programs, respectively, for TCM use in palliative care.

Most of the respondents agreed there was insufficient knowledge, skills-training, and continuing education on the use of TCM in terminally ill patients in Taiwan. These results show that to address patient safety considerations, guidelines about use of TCM in palliative care should be established.

These tumors are frequently invasive and continuous from the main tumor that normally shows direct vessel wall invasion, but not in this case. In some cases, the tumor thrombus can be removed through a simple venotomy. To prevent superior vena cava and the left innominate vein stenosis, we used a pericardial patch to close the venotomy site. At this case we report a thymic carcinoma with superior vena cava syndrome, which was caused by a tumor thrombus in the superior vena cava without vessel wall invasion, an even more rare condition. We describe a case of fulminant onset, rapidly progressive-interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD) with anti-ARS antibodies (anti-PL-7). The patient was successfully treated with nintedanib in addition to intensive immunosuppressive therapies, including intravenous cyclophosphamide. Nintedanib has just been approved for treatment of progressive fibrosing ILD, but to date, no reports of RP-ILD treated with nintedanib have been published. This case report may advance discussions regarding the use and timing of nintedanib in treating RP-ILD.

To analyze accuracy of articles about COVID-19 prevention most frequently shared through social media platforms.

Identifying, using the Buzzsumo analytic tool, 30 most frequently shared articles in April 2020 about COVID-19 prevention and classifying them according to number of shares, accuracy, topic and sharing platform. Calculations were made using descriptive statistics tools and chi-square test.

The top 30 articles about coronavirus prevention were shared 4904 160 times over a period of one month with 96.8% of all shares through Facebook. Most of the articles (80%) was found to be accurate, however they accounted for only 64% of shares. The inaccuracies referred mostly to handwashing. The most shared articles were about medications followed by masks and hand washing.

Articles about coronavirus prevention are usually accurate, yet relatively less likely to be shared than inaccurate ones. Facebook remains a dominant social media platform for sharing content. Buzzsumo could be considered a tool in certain situations such as pandemic for health authorities to quickly investigate different health topics popular on social media.
