In the past decades, the incidence rate of cancer has steadily risen. Although advances in early and accurate detection have increased cancer survival chances, these patients must cope with physical and psychological sequelae. The lack of personalized support and assistance after discharge may lead to a rapid diminution of their physical abilities, cognitive impairment, and reduced quality of life. This paper proposes a personalized support system for cancer survivors based on a cohort and trajectory analysis (CTA) module integrated within an agent-based personalized chatbot named EREBOTS. The CTA module relies on survival estimation models, machine learning, and deep learning techniques. It provides clinicians with supporting evidence for choosing a personalized treatment, while allowing patients to benefit from tailored suggestions adapted to their conditions and trajectories. The development of the CTA within the EREBOTS framework enables to effectively evaluate the significance of prognostic variables, detect patient's high-risk markers, and support treatment decisions.

Stachys schtschegleevii (SSC) is a herbal medicine used to treat infections. To date, this is the first study aimed to investigate the effects of SSC tea on disease activity score (DAS), serum inflammatory biomarkers and matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-1 and MMP-3) among women with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

This pilot, triple-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted among forty-four women (age 30-65 years) diagnosed with moderately active RA. Subjects were randomly assigned (11 ratio) into either SSC group (2.4 g/day SSC + 2.4 g/day black tea, n=22) or placebo (2.4 g/day black tea, n=22) for 8 weeks. Serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and MMPs were measured using ELISA. According to the American College of Rheumatology guideline considering hs-CRP, DAS28 was assessed.

Both study groups had respondent rates above 94.9%. The SSC intervention caused significant reductions in the number and the percent changes of the tender joints (SSC -74.39%vs.s. • Stachys schtschegleevii ameliorated serum level of MMP-3 in RA patients.

The SSC intervention showed an appropriate clinical efficacy for female RA patients, accompanying remarkable reductions in the number of tender and swollen joints, DAS28, and serum levels of MMP-3. This can provide additional insights to the interventional studies controlling RA-related pathological and inflammatory outcomes. Key Points • Stachys schtschegleevii improved clinical outcomes and attenuated disease severity in RA patients. • Stachys schtschegleevii ameliorated serum level of MMP-3 in RA patients.Thoracoscopic segmentectomy and subsegmentectomy have been widely accepted for the treatment of peripheral small lung cancers. Thoracoscopic basal subsegmentectomy, especially when performed through a uniportal procedure, is extremely technically challenging, and therefore there are seldom reports of its technical details. In this article, we present a uniportal thoracoscopic left S10a+ci subsegmentectomy following the single-direction strategy through the inferior pulmonary ligament approach.Surgical repair of severe rotator cuff tear often results in retear due to unaddressed muscle degeneration. The objective of this study was to test the regenerative potential of micronized dehydrated Human Amnion/Chorion Membrane (dHACM), in a clinically relevant delayed reattachment model of rotator cuff repair. Micronized dHACM was injected into rat supraspinatus muscle during tendon re-attachment surgery, three weeks after original tendon injury. One week after material injection, inflammatory and mesenchymal stem cell infiltration into supraspinatus muscles was assessed via flow cytometry. Histological methods were utilized to assess structural and regenerative changes in muscle one and three weeks after material injection. Micronized dHACM injection resulted in increased M1-like macrophages (17.1 [Formula see text] fold change over contralateral controls) and regenerating muscle fibers (4.3% vs 1.7% in saline treated muscles) one week after injection compared to saline treated muscles. Tendon reattachment itself exhibited intrinsic healing in this model, demonstrated by a general return of muscle weight and reduced fibrosis. Our results indicate that injection of micronized dHACM may initiate an inflammatory response in degenerated muscle that promotes early muscle regeneration, and that our animal model may be a suitable platform for studying treatments in muscle at early timepoints, before intrinsic healing occurs.Phytoremediation is an eco-friendly and economical technology in which plants are used for the removal of contaminants presents in the urban and rural environment. One of the challenges of the technique is the proper destination of the biomass of plants. In this context, the use of ornamental plants in areas under contamination treatment improves landscape, serving as a tourist option and source of income with high added value. In addition to their high stress tolerance, rapid growth, high biomass production, and good root development, ornamental species are not intended for animal and human food consumption, avoiding the introduction of contaminants into the food web in addition to improving the environments with aesthetic value. Selleckchem SB525334 Furthermore, ornamental plants provide multiple ecosystem services, and promote human well-being, while contributing to the conservation of biodiversity. In this review, we summarized the main uses of ornamental plants in phytoremediation of contaminated soil, air, and water. We discuss the potential use of ornamental plants in constructed buffer strips aiming to mitigate the contamination of agricultural lands occurring in the vicinity of sources of contaminants. Moreover, we underlie the ecological and health benefits of the use of ornamental plants in urban and rural landscape projects. This study is expected to draw attention to a promising decontamination technology combined with the beautification of urban and rural areas as well as a possible alternative source of income and diversification in horticultural production.Dissolved black carbon (DBC) is regarded as an important part of the natural organic matter pool. However, it is unclear about DBC's photochemical activity and the relationships between reactive intermediates (RIs) and the molecular structure of DBC remain unclear. In this study, we investigate the photochemical formation ability of RIs and spectral parameters (E2/E3, S275-295) of DBC made from five types of plants at five pyrolysis temperatures. The results showed that there were good linear regressions between the RI quantum yields and the spectral parameters (E2/E3, S275-295), and this was indicative of the RI generation prediction from DBC under solar irradiation. The DBC-mediated photochemical experiment of sulfadiazine revealed that 3DBC* was the primary active species for the indirect photodegradation of sulfadiazine. Further studies indicated that a linear relationship was observed between the indirect photodegradation ability of sulfadiazine induced directly by 3DBC* at different pyrolysis temperatures and the 3DBC* quantum yields or E2/E3. These findings indicate that the simple models of the RI quantum yield as a function of spectral parameters can be used to evaluate the degradation of pollutants with known DBC spectral parameters. In today's world, pesticides are commonly used to control pests and in advanced agriculture. As an organophosphorus insecticide (OPI), diazinon (DZN) is a commonly used substance. However, the widespread usage of DZN increases the probability of incidence of toxication. This toxication has been reported to be shaped not through cholinergic syndromes that are experienced as a result of acetylcholinesterase inhibition, which is the primary effect of these cases. It is rather shaped by the altering of the facilitation of oxidative stress and inflammatory response. In this study, the protective effect of administering erdosteine (ERDOS) subacute DZN exposure was investigated. A total of 24 male Wistar albino rats were separated into 4 groups (with 6 rats in each group), namely, the control, DZN (15 mg/kg/day), ERDOS (10 mg/kg/day), and DZN + ERDOS (15 mg/kg/day DZN + 10 mg/kg/day ERDOS) groups. These medications were given through oral gavage for 28 days. The aim of this study was to develop a reliable sampling method for chemical monitoring in aquaculture ponds based on the technique of diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT). A binding material (XDA-1 resin) with high adsorption capacity for antibiotics, hormones, and herbicides was selected. In laboratory, the diffusion coefficients of 11 antibiotics, 3 hormones, and 3 herbicides of the XDA-1-DGT devices were tested and ranged from 1.0×10-6 to 8.7×10-5 cm2/s. During the in situ application of XDA-1-DGT devices in different aquaculture ponds, concentrations of 11 antibiotics, 3 hormones, and 3 herbicides in aquaculture water (CSOLN) via grab sampling were also analyzed and found ranging from 0.03 to 6.3 ng/L, lower than the results based on DGT (CDGT) (1.2-1.3×102 ng/L). The values of CDGT/CSOLN were larger than one unit, suggesting that the rates of resupply of target chemicals (antibiotics, hormones, and herbicides) by the desorption and diffusion of pond water were higher than the rates of uptake by XDA-1-DGT, and pond water was proved a sufficient reservoir of antibiotics for DGT application. The value of Log (CDGT/CSOLN) of 1.1 derived from the application in the aquaculture ponds of 14 regions in Eastern China can be a reference value for future chemical monitoring based on DGT technique. And the accuracy of this value was found hardly affected by the physical and chemical properties of chemicals with pKa ranging from -1 to 12, Log Kow ranging from 0 to 4.5, and Log solubility ranging from 0.0 to 4.0.The linkage between renewable energy resources and environmental influences on economic growth among selected Asian economies play a vital role in sustainable economic development. This study encompasses the panel data sets for eight selected Asian countries, and the period starts from 1990 to 2018. This research relies on the panel vector error correction model (PVECM) for data estimation. The overall findings indicate that biomass, geothermal, and wind power sources of energy have a positive and significant impact on the economic advancement of Asian economies. Besides that, as opposed to the other two renewable energy sources, windpower has a greater impact on economic development. Furthermore, the empirical findings of current research have significant implications towards selected Asian countries' energy policy related to both private and public sector enterprises as it helps in identifying the industrial sectors which have greater contribution towards the economy and their energy requirements in long term.
