There are currently no reports on the application of three-dimensional (3D) vision to single-incision laparoscopic surgery. This study compared 3D vision to the previous two-dimensional (2D) system in single-incision laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (SIDG).

Medical charts of 179 gastric cancer patients who underwent SIDG from February 2014 to December 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were grouped into either a 2D group or 3D group depending on the type of camera that was used. All operations were performed using a flexible camera (Olympus, Japan). Operative data and postoperative outcome were analyzed.

There were 90 patients in the 2D group and 89 patients in the 3D group. No differences were found in terms of the age, body mass index, staging, and other demographics of the patients. Operative time was significantly faster in the 3D group (115.6 ± 34.0 vs. 129.4 ± 38.5min, p = 0.012), and estimated blood loss (EBL) was less in the 3D group (20.7 ± 30.0 vs. 35.1 ± 56.0ml, p = 0.034). Patients in the 3D group were able to start a small fluid diet earlier (2.5, range 1-6 vs. 3.0, range 2-8 postoperative days, p = 0.006) and were discharged faster (5.4, range 3-12 vs. 6.2, range 4-24 postoperative days, p = 0.024). There was no statistical difference between early and late complications.

Tibial component design and positioning contribute more to patient satisfaction than previously realized. A surgeon needs to decide on the size and rotation, bearing in mind that coverage should be as high as possible, whilst malrotation and overhang should be avoided. No study investigates the impact of each of these components on clinical outcomes in a single cohort.

This is a retrospective analysis of 1-year postoperative outcomes measured with the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome (KOOS) Score, as well as a previously validated rotational CT protocol. Coverage, rotation from Insall's axis, and overhang of an asymmetric tibial baseplate were measured, and positive and negative correlations to clinical outcomes were calculated.

A total of 499 knees were analyzed. Patient average age was 68.4years. Rotation within 7° internal and 5° external from Insall's axis was a "safe zone". Mean coverage was 76%. A total of 429 knees (94%) had a coverage of at least 70% and 102 knees (22%) greater than 80%. Overhang was detected in 23% of the cohort. Increased coverage was correlated to increased KOOS score and overhang correlated with a decreased KOOS score (p = 0.008).

This study demonstrates the individual role of three aspects of tibial component implantation properties in postoperative pain and short-term functional outcomes. In any of these forms, it is poisonous to metabolism. In this, an investigation about the effect of the inorganic form of mercury, i.e., mercuric chloride (HgCl2) to the mitochondrial voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC), has been done after isolation from the cardiac and brain tissues of Wistar rats. In vitro electrophysiology experiments were performed in Cardiolipin planar lipid bilayer membrane (BLM) to study the change in the conductance, selectivity, and gating charge of VDAC post HgCl2 treatment. A reduction in mean conductance of VDAC from 4.3 ± 0.18 to 1.66 ± 0.11 nS was observed. Further, the Gating charge calculated before (± 3.5) and after HgCl2 treatment (± 2.3) showed significant difference. Later, VDAC's behavior was studied at different concentrations of HgCl2 ranging from 0.1 μM to 1 mM. The Inhibitory concentration (IC50) was calculated from the linear regression plot. The IC50 was found to be 488.1 μM. In the asymmetrical HgCl2 (51), a permeability ratio of cation to anion was found to be 4.2. This study evaluated the seroprevalence of A. abstrusus antibodies in 220 stray and free-roaming cats from insular (Mykonos, Crete, Skopelos) and continental (Thessaloniki, Attica) Greece. The results were compared with morphological and biomolecular identification of first-stage larvae (L1) in faeces. Positive cats were observed in all 5 areas 13/97 (13.4%), 1/32 (3.1%), 7/26 (26.9%), 3/18 (16.7%) and 5/47 (10.6%) cats tested positive for A. abstrusus L1 by Baermann examination, and 33/97 (34.0%), 7/32 (21.9%), 6/26 (23.1%), 3/18 (16.7%) and 11/47 (23.4%) were seropositive, in Mykonos, Crete, Skopelos, Thessaloniki and Attica, respectively. Troglostrongylus brevior L1 were found in 12/97 (12.4%), 3/26 (11.5%) and 2/47 (4.3%) cats from Mykonos, Skopelos and Attica respectively. Six of the 220 cats (2.7%), i.e. 4/97 (4.1%) from Mykonos and 2/26 (7.7%) from Skopelos, shed L1 of both A. abstrusus and T. brevior.
