Caves are often assumed to be static environments separated from weather changes experienced on the surface. The high humidity and stability of these subterranean environments make them attractive to many different organisms including microbes such as bacteria and protists. Cave waters generally originate from the surface, may be filtered by overlying soils, can accumulate in interstitial epikarst zones underground, and emerge in caves as streams, pools and droplets on speleothems. Water movement is the primary architect of karst caves, and depending on the hydrologic connectivity between surface and subsurface, is the most likely medium for the introduction of microbes to caves. Recently published metabarcoding surveys of karst cave soils and speleothems have suggested that the vast majority of bacteria residing in these habitats do not occur on the surface, calling into question the role of microbial transport by surface waters. The purpose of this study was to use metabarcoding to monitor the aquatic prokam than during and afterwards. This event demonstrates that large influxes of bacteria and particulate organic matter can enter the cave from either the surface or interstitial zones and the divergence of the cave microbiome from the surface demonstrates movement of microbes from the epikarst zones into the cave.Granulosa cells play an essential physiological role in mediating the follicle development and survival or apoptosis of granulosa cells dictate the follicle development or atresia. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of high dose (10-5 M) and low dose (10-9 M) melatonin in bovine granulosa cells, and assess whether MT1 and MT2 inhibiter affect granulosa cells response to melatonin. We found that the high dose (10-5 M) and low dose (10-9 M) both could act as an essential role in modulating granulosa cells apoptosis, cell cycle and antioxidant. The beneficial effect could be related to that melatonin promoted the expression of Bcl2, Bcl-xl, SOD1 and GPX4, and inhibited Bax, caspase-3 and p53 expression. Moreover P21 expression was decreased in granulosa cells treated with the high dose (10-5 M) melatonin and increased in that treated with the low dose (10-9 M) melatonin. To further reveal the role of MT1 and MT2 in mediating the effect of melatonin on granulosa cells apoptosis, cell cycle and antioxidant, we found that the luzindole and 4P-PDOT did not affect the effect of high dose (10-5 M) melatonin on regulating Bcl2, Bax, caspase-3, SOD1, GPX4 and p53 expression, while blocked its effect on modulating Bcl-xl and P21expression. However, luzindole and 4P-PDOT disturbed the effect of low dose (10-9 M) melatonin on regulating Bcl2, Bax, caspase-3, Bcl-xl, SOD1, GPX4, and p53 expression. In conclusion, these results reveal that the effect of low dose (10-9 M) melatonin on granulosa cells apoptosis are mediated by MT1 and MT2, and the high dose (10-5 M) melatonin affect the granulosa cells apoptosis by other pathway, besides MT1 and MT2. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/fhd-609.html Moreover MT1 and MT2 may work in concert to modulate bovine granulosa cells function by regulating cellular progression and apoptosis.1,2-Dicarbofunctionalization of alkenes has emerged as an efficient synthetic strategy for preparing substituted molecules by coupling readily available alkenes with electrophiles and/or nucleophiles. Nickel complexes serve as effective catalysts owing to their tendency to undergo facile oxidative addition and slow β-hydride elimination, and their capability to access both two-electron and radical pathways. Two-component alkene functionalization reactions have achieved high chemo-, regio-, and stereoselectivities by tethering one of the coupling partners to the alkene substrate. Three-component reactions, however, often incorporate directing groups to control the selectivity. Only a few examples of directing-group-free difunctionalizations of unactivated alkenes have been reported. Therefore, great opportunities exist for the development of three-component difunctionalization reactions with broad substrate scopes and tunable chemo-, regio-, and stereoselectivities.

Herbicides such as glyphosate, paraquat, and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid have been reported to cause adverse side effects through production of reactive oxygen species. However, there were no data representing the adverse effects of a mixture herbicide usage in farmers, especially the changes in oxidative marker and antioxidant defense. This study aimed to determine the urinary malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) level in farmers using mixed herbicides.

Ninety-three farmers were recruited, and two spot urine samples (before and after work) were collected. The urinary MDA level was evaluated by thiobarbituric acid reactive substanceassay, and the urinary GSH level was determined using the enzymatic recycling method.

Sixty-two percent of the participants were men, and 59% of the participants worked in a farm for 20-40 years. The common combinations of herbicide usage were glyphosate with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (36.5%). There was no significant difference between pre- and post-work urinary MDA and GSH levels among the 3 groups of herbicides. However, the urinary MDA levels in farmers using the combination of glyphosate and paraquat were significantly higher than those found in farmers using glyphosate alone. The associated factors with changes in MDA levels found that the exposure intensity index (B=0.154), the cumulative exposure intensity index (B=0.023), and wearing gloves while working (B=-2.347) were found to be significantly associated with MDA level.

The results suggest that the combined use of glyphosate and paraquat caused a significant increase in urinary MDA levels. Moreover, intensity of exposure to herbicide and wearing gloves were associated with the level of MDA.

During the period 2001 to 2016, the maximum temperatures in Thailand rose from 38-41

C to 42-44

C. The current occupational heat exposure standard of Thailand issued in 2006 is based on wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) defined for three workload levels without a work-rest regimen. This study examined whether the present standard still protects most workers.

The sample comprised 168 heat acclimatized workers (90 in construction sites, 78 in foundries). Heart rate and auditory canal temperaturewere recorded continuously for 2 hours. Workplace WBGT, relative humidity, and wind velocity were monitored, and the participants' workloads were estimated. Heat-related symptoms and signs were collected by a questionnaire.

Only 55% of the participants worked in workplaces complying with the heat standard. Of them, 79% had auditory canal temperature≤38.5

C, compared with only 58% in noncompliant workplaces. 18% and 43% of the workers in compliant and noncompliant workplaces, respectively, had symptoms from heat stress, the trend being similar across all workload levels.
