ation, and lower contrast agent volume.

In patients with impaired LVEF (LVEF≤35%), the TB technique yielded significantly superior image quality and may be the preferred approach in this specific patient population. BT showed advantages in terms of shorter duration, less radiation, and lower contrast agent volume.Periocular ecchymosis, or periocular bruising, is a common clinical finding. Periocular skin is thin with an extensive vascular network, making this anatomical region prone to bruising. The most common etiology is trauma, but rarely, patients can present with spontaneous periocular ecchymosis (SPE). The pathophysiology of SPE is complex and varied. In this literature review of 121 articles, we assessed the frequency and variety of causation of this infrequent entity. The main finding was that by far the most common diagnosis causing SPE is amyloidosis and neoplasm, most notably neuroblastoma. Amyloidosis accounted for 23% articles (28/121) and neuroblastoma for 17% articles (21/121). Overall, neoplastic processes accounted for 30% of the articles (36/121), raised intracranial pressure and vascular malformations for 19% of the articles (23/121), migraine and atypical headache for 7% of the articles (8/121), while iatrogenic accounted for 5% of the articles (6/121). Through exploration and appreciation of the pathophysiology, we hope to foster a greater understanding in the clinician to establish underlying etiology, from benign to life-threatening, when presented with SPE.

As a fast-growing tree species, Chosenia arbutifolia has a unique but controversial taxonomic status in the family Salicaceae. Despite its importance as an industrial material, in ecological protection, and in landscaping, C. arbutifolia is seriously endangered in Northeast China because of artificial destruction and its low reproductive capability.

To clarify its phylogenetic relationships with other Salicaceae species, we assembled a high-quality chromosome-level genome of C. arbutifolia using PacBio High-Fidelity reads and Hi-C sequencing data, with a total size of 338.93 Mb and contig N50 of 1.68 Mb. Repetitive sequences, which accounted for 42.34% of the assembly length, were identified. In total, 33,229 protein-coding genes and 11,474 small noncoding RNAs were predicted. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that C. arbutifolia and poplars diverged approximately 15.3 million years ago, and a large interchromosomal recombination between C. arbutifolia and other Salicaceae species was discovered.

Our study provides insights into the genome architecture and systematic evolution of C. arbutifolia, as well as comprehensive information for germplasm protection and future functional genomic studies.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the biggest complications in open and endovascular aortic repairs. Historically, cerebrospinal fluid drains (CSFD) have been one of the most effective modalities in reducing SCI and one of the most studied. CSFD placement also carries its' own set of procedural risks. This editorial intends to evaluate recent literature to determine whether CSFDs remain a valuable tool in aortic repair.

As the surgical management of thoracic aortic aneurysms has evolved, there has been an increasing number of endovascular repairs. Current recommendations emphasize prophylactic CSFD placement in endovascular repair cases deemed 'high risk.' However, several meta-analyses differ on whether prophylactic CSFD placement reduced the risk of SCI. The incidence of SCI decreased between 2014 and 2018, despite a similar rate of prophylactic CSFD placement suggesting other techniques are being performed and may be effective in spinal cord protection as well.

There has been conflicting data on whey place CSFDs in those patients deemed at 'high risk' for SCI. CSFDs also remain a part of rescue treatment for postoperative SCI. This suggests that CSFDs continue to be a valuable tool that we need to better comprehend. Future research is necessary to better understand how patient risk factors can be balanced with perioperative management to help identify patients who may benefit from CSFD placement.Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent primary liver cancer, being the third most common cause of cancer-related death globally. HCC most frequently develops in the context of hepatic cirrhosis. HCC can manifest as various morphologic subtypes. Each pattern exhibits distinct behaviors in terms of imaging features, disease progression, response to therapy, and prognosis. While the nodular pattern is the most frequent subtype, infiltrative HCC is the least prevalent and makes up about 8%-20% of all HCC cases. Infiltrative HCC manifests as small tumor nodules that often spread across the entire liver or across a hepatic segment/lobe and is not identified as a focal tumor. On ultrasonography, infiltrative HCC presents as a markedly heterogeneous area with ill-defined echotexture, making it difficult to distinguish from background hepatic cirrhosis. On magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), infiltrating HCC typically manifests as a mild, poorly defined hepatic region with heterogeneous or homogenous aberrant signal intensity. Specifically, on T1-weighted MRI scans, infiltrating HCC frequently appears as largely hypointense and typically homogenous and mildly to moderately hyperintense on T2-weighted imaging. Infiltrative HCC frequently lacks a clearly defined boundary on cross-sectional imaging and can consequently fade into the background of the cirrhotic liver. As a result, infiltrating HCC is frequently not discovered until an advanced stage and has an associated poor prognosis. Thus, understanding imaging features associated with infiltrative HCC diagnosis is crucial for abdominal radiologists to ensure effective and timely care. We herein review imaging characteristics of infiltrative HCC.

Prioritizing treatments for individual patients with cancer remains challenging, and performing coclinical studies using patient-derived models in real time is often unfeasible. To circumvent these challenges, we introduce OncoLoop, a precision medicine framework that predicts drug sensitivity in human tumors and their preexisting high-fidelity (cognate) model(s) by leveraging drug perturbation profiles. As a proof of concept, we applied OncoLoop to prostate cancer using genetically engineered mouse models (GEMM) that recapitulate a broad spectrum of disease states, including castration-resistant, metastatic, and neuroendocrine prostate cancer. Interrogation of human prostate cancer cohorts by Master Regulator (MR) conservation analysis revealed that most patients with advanced prostate cancer were represented by at least one cognate GEMM-derived tumor (GEMM-DT). Drugs predicted to invert MR activity in patients and their cognate GEMM-DTs were successfully validated in allograft, syngeneic, and patient-derie. Biphasic absorbents are one of the promising approaches for energy-saving CO2 capture processes. These biphasic absorbents are mainly composed of a mixed solvent composed of alkanolamine and organic solvents like glycol ether or alcohol. However, screening experiments of the mixed-solvent absorbents are required to search for biphasic absorbents due to their complicated phase behavior. In this work, we developed a prediction method for the phase states of the mixed-solvent absorbents using a quantum calculation and machine learning models, including random forest, logistic regression, and support vector machine models. There are 61 mixed-solvent absorbents containing alkanolamine/glycol ether or alcohol in the dataset. The machine learning models successfully predicted the phase states of the mixed-solvent absorbents before and after CO2 absorption with accuracies of more than 90%. Furthermore, we analyzed the contributions of explanatory variables for prediction using the learned model. As a result, we found that molecular surface charge of the amine species is more important than those of the other organic solvents to determine the phase behaviors during CO2 absorption.

The Japanese government is promoting physician-led home visits as well as end-of-life care at home. However, the proportion of deaths occurring at home has remained unchanged for the past 20 years.

To report the cumulative incidence of deaths at home and to explore the factors associated with deaths at home versus other places, mainly hospitals.

This was a multicenter prospective cohort study in a primary care setting. We enrolled patients aged ≥65 years who had started to receive regular visits by family physicians from 13 facilities in and around Tokyo between February 1, 2013 and January 31, 2016. Patients were followed-up until January 31, 2017. this website The primary outcome measures were mortality rate and cumulative incidence of deaths at home.

We enrolled 762 patients. Of 368 deaths, 133 occurred in the patient's home. The mortality rates at home were 137.6/1000 person-years (95% confidence interval 116.1-163.1). In cumulative incidence function, the longer duration of care at home lowers the likelihood of death at home. Multivariable multinomial logistic models showed that younger age and higher Barthel Index score reduced the likelihood of deaths at home, while receiving oxygen therapy and the presence of a full-time caregiver increased the likelihood of deaths at home relative to deaths at other locations.

Of deceased patients, only one-third died in patients' homes. We found several factors associated with deaths at home, which appeared to reflect the readiness of patients and their families for death. Geriatr Gerontol Int 2022; 22 1005-1012.

Increased attention to cancer care has instigated altered systems for screening, diagnosis, and management of various types of cancer, such as in the prostate. While such systems very likely have improved the quality of cancer care, they also result in the altered use of specific services, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

To study the change in the use of prostate MRI in the Norwegian health care system from 2013 to 2021 and to investigate some reasons for and potential implications of this change.

Data from the Norwegian Health Economics Administration (HELFO), The Cancer Registry of Norwayand Cause-of-death registry at the Norwegian Institute of public healthand the health registry of Vestfold Hospital Trust were used for descriptive statistical analysis.

The number of MRIs of the prostate increased threefold from 2013 to 2021, representing an extra cost of 2 million USD in 2020. The incidence of prostate cancer was stable at about 5000 cases per year, corresponding to 178 per 100,000 men, indicating no increased overdiagnosis.
