Neurological diseases have different etiological causes. Contemporary, developing an effective treatment for these diseases is an ongoing challenge. Cell therapy is recognized as one of the promising solutions for the treatment of these diseases. Amongst various types of stem cells, bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSC) are known to be the most widely used stem cells. These cells are endowed with appealing properties such as the ability to differentiate into other cell types, including the muscle, liver, glial, and nerve cells. In this review study, we have systematically evaluated the ability of a variety of chemical compounds used in the last ten years to differentiate BM-MSCs into neurons by examining the expression level of beta-tubulin 3 protein. The present study is a systematic search performed at three separate databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Embase from August 2009 to August 2019. The search results in the three mentioned databases were 323 articles and finally, 8 articles were selected and carefully examined considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results showed that different chemical compounds such as ROCK inhibitors, sex steroid hormones, bFGF, NGF, Noggin, 4 OHT, TSA, VPA, Antidepressants, Neurosteroids (Dex and E2), and DHA are involved in different signaling pathways, such as ERK, AKT, BMP, DHA / GPR40, Rho-dependent phosphorylation, and histone deacetylase inhibitors. Further investigation of these signaling pathways may open the way for better differentiation of BM-MSCs into neurons.The use of a navigation system allows precise resection of a tumor and accurate reconstruction of the resultant defect thereby sparing important anatomical structures and preserving function. It is an "image-based" system where the imaging (computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging) is required to supply the software with data. The fusion of the preoperative imaging provides pre-operative information about local anatomy and the extent of the tumor so that it allows accurate preoperative planning. Accurate pre-operative imaging is mandatory in order to minimize CATS errors, thus performing accurate tumor resections.

Peritumoral edema of primary brain tumors is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. The number of studies currently available on the prognostic role of peritumoral brain edema in the posterior fossa is extremely limited.

Based on the known importance of magnetic resonance imaging in diagnosing supratentorial metastases, this study aimed to investigate the effects of peritumoral edema on survival of patients with posterior fossa metastases and the preoperative diagnostic value of MRI.

Edema and mass volumes of 49 patients with posterior fossa metastasis, who underwent surgery during 2012-2016, were measured using magnetic resonance imaging. The edema/mass indices were retrospectively calculated and interpreted by evaluating the demographic, clinical, and survival data.

The study consisted of 32 (65.3%) male and 17 (34.7%) female participants, with the mean age ± standard deviation of 47.25±29.25 (17-81) years. Among the 49 patients with posterior fossa metastases, 34 (69.4%) had carcinoma, while 15 (30.6%) had non-carcinoma metastases. The edema/mass indices of patients with carcinoma and non-carcinoma metastases were found to be 14.55±9.64 and 1.34±1.08, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (p<0.001). The mean survival of patients with carcinoma and non-carcinoma metastases was found to be 642±11.52 days and 726±9.32 days, respectively; however, this difference was not statistically significant (p=0.787).

The edema/mass ratio was found to be a significant diagnostic factor for the prediction of posterior fossa metastases. Further detailed studies are warranted to investigate the effect of edema/mass ratio on survival rate.

Breast cancer has become a global problem. Though concerns regarding early detection and accurate diagnosis have been raised, continued efforts are required for the development of precision medicine. In the past years, the area of medicinal imaging has seen an unprecedented growth that has led to an advancement of radiomics, which provides countless quantitative biomarkers extracted from modern diagnostic images, including a detailed tumor characterization of breast malignancy.

In this review, we have presented the methodology and implementation of radiomics together with its future trends and challenges on the basis of published papers. Radiomics could distinguish malignant from benign tumors, predict prognostic factors, molecular subtypes of breast carcinoma, treatment response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), and recurrence survival. The incorporation of quantitative knowledge with clinical, histopathological, and genomic information will enable physicians to afford customized care of treatment for patients with breast cancer.

This review was intended to help physicians and radiologists gain fundamental knowledge regarding radiomics, and also to work collaboratively with researchers to explore evidence for its further usage in clinical practice.

Avascular necrosis of humeral trochlea is a very rare condition and was described by Hegemann in 1957. We reported two cases of avascular necrosis of humeral trochlea and also performed a literature review of the reported cases. We expect that this case report will assist clinicians in making a timely diagnosis when encountering similar clinical scenarios.

We presented cases of an 11-year-old and a 14-year-old with avascular necrosis of the humeral trochlea. AG-1024 The common etiology was idiopathic because there were no recent trauma history and sports activity. Also, there was no history of drug use. We discussed the clinical and radiological findings of these cases.

These cases, two teenage boys, were diagnosed withHegemann's disease with clinical and radiological outcomes. We found that the etiology of both thecases is idiopathic;. The number of previously reported cases in the literature is limited to 64. In our study, there was a lateral crest in one of our two cases and a posteromedial involvement in another.
