Obesity, lifestyles, and environmental conditions (like altitude) may explain country differences. This analytical approach may be a valuable tool to be replicated in other countries with no population-based cancer registries and acceptable mortality data quality.Air quality control is an important task in prevention of human exposure to toxic and harmful gases and requires reliable gas sensors. During last decades many gas sensing mechanisms, based on different physical or chemical interactions with sensitive materials, have been developed, but the problem of precise analysis of gas mixtures still remains. The problem can be solved by introducing new sensing mechanism based on an adiabatically changing electric field interacting with the rotational structure of the molecules with dipole moments. We have theoretically demonstrated a single low frequency gas detector that can be used for sensing of gas mixtures with high selectivity, accuracy, and sensitivity. The enhancement of the population difference between corresponding molecular levels and reached the theoretical maximum of absorption have been shown.Due to their low losses, dielectric metamaterials provide an ideal resolution to construct ultra-narrowband absorbers. To improve the sensing performance, we present numerically a near-infrared ultra-narrowband absorber by putting ultra-sparse dielectric nanowire grids on metal substrate in this paper. The simulation results show that the absorber has an absorption rate larger than 0.99 with full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 0.38 nm. The simulation field distribution also indicates that the ultra-narrowband absorption is originated from the low loss in the guided-mode resonance. Thanks to the ultra-narrow absorption bandwidths and the electric field mainly distributed out of the ultra-sparse dielectric nanowire grids, our absorber has a high sensitivity S of 1052 nm/RIU and a large figure of merit (FOM) of 2768 which mean that this ultra-narrowband absorber can be applied as a high-performance refractive index sensor.Relapse after allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (SCT) is a major cause of death in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). Here, we retrospectively analysed the contributions of lineage-sorted donor cell chimerism (sDCC) and quantitative PCR (qPCR) targeting disease-specific genetic rearrangements to detect minimal residual/relapsing disease (MRD) and predict impending relapse in 94 adult ALL patients after SCT. With a median follow-up of surviving patients (n = 61) of 3.3 years, qPCR and/or sDCC measurements turned positive in 38 patients (40%). Of these, 22 patients relapsed and 16 remained in complete remission. At 3 years, qPCR and/or sDCC positive patients showed an increased incidence of relapse (50% vs. 4%, p  less then  0.0001), decreased relapse-free survival (RFS, 40% vs. Fasoracetam activator 85%, p  less then  0.0001), and decreased overall survival (OS, 47% vs. 87%, p 0.004). Both, qPCR and sDCC pre-detected 11 of 21 relapses occurring within the first two years after SCT and, overall, complemented for each other method in four of the relapsing and four of the non-relapsing cases. Patients receiving pre-emptive MRD-driven interventions (n = 11) or not (n = 10) showed comparable median times until relapse, RFS, and OS. In our single centre cohort, qPCR and sDCC were similarly effective and complementary helpful to indicate haematological relapse of ALL after SCT.This study is devoted to the detailed in situ Raman spectroscopy investigation of propane C3H8 in laser-heated diamond anvil cells in the range of pressures from 3 to 22 GPa and temperatures from 900 to 3000 K. We show that propane, while being exposed to particular thermobaric conditions, could react, leading to the formation of hydrocarbons, both saturated and unsaturated as well as soot. Our results suggest that propane could be a precursor of heavy hydrocarbons and will produce more than just sooty material when subjected to extreme conditions. These results could clarify the issue of the presence of heavy hydrocarbons in the Earth's upper mantle. In POLLUX, daratumumab (D) plus lenalidomide/dexamethasone (Rd) reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 63% and increased the overall response rate (ORR) versus Rd in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). Updated efficacy and safety after >3 years of follow-up are presented. Patients (N = 569) with ≥1 prior line received Rd (lenalidomide, 25 mg, on Days 1-21 of each 28-day cycle; dexamethasone, 40 mg, weekly) ± daratumumab at the approved dosing schedule. Minimal residual disease (MRD) was assessed by next-generation sequencing. After 44.3 months median follow-up, D-Rd prolonged progression-free survival (PFS) in the intent-to-treat population (median 44.5 vs 17.5 months; HR, 0.44; 95% CI, 0.35-0.55; P  less then  0.0001) and in patient subgroups. D-Rd demonstrated higher ORR (92.9 vs 76.4%; P  less then  0.0001) and deeper responses, including complete response or better (56.6 vs 23.2%; P  less then  0.0001) and MRD negativity (10-5; 30.4 vs 5.3%; P  less then  0.0001). Median time to next therapy was prolonged with D-Rd (50.6 vs 23.1 months; HR, 0.39; 95% CI, 0.31-0.50; P  less then  0.0001). Median PFS on subsequent line of therapy (PFS2) was not reached with D-Rd versus 31.7 months with Rd (HR, 0.53; 95% CI, 0.42-0.68; P  less then  0.0001). No new safety concerns were reported. These data support using D-Rd in patients with RRMM after first relapse.STUDY DESIGN Pre-post cohort mixed factorial design. OBJECTIVE Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) and chronic pain are major problems for people with spinal cord injury (SCI). However, the relationship between chronic pain and EDS requires clarification. The goal of the study was to determine associations between pain catastrophizing (PC) and pain intensity (PI) with EDS in adults with SCI. SETTING New South Wales, Australia. METHODS Participants included 45 adults with SCI and 44 able-bodied controls. The relationship between PI, PC, and EDS was explored by determining the influence of PC and PI on the performance of both groups in a behavioral test of EDS called the Oxford Sleep Resistance Test. PC and PI were assessed by self-report. The association between EDS, pain, and other relevant factors like fatigue and mood was established using multidimensional scaling in the SCI group data. RESULTS PC was found to have a significant association with EDS, with 33.3% falling asleep in the SCI group with low PC, compared with 70% in those with high PC.
