This study showed that miR-935 directly inhibited the expression of FZD6 and inhibited the cell proliferation, thereby suppressing the development of GB, suggesting that miR-935 is a cancer suppressor miRNA and may become a prognostic biomarker or a promising potential therapeutic target for human GBs.COVID-19 caused by SARS-Cov-2 is a devastating infection in patients with hematological malignancies. In 2018, the Lebanese Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (LSHBT) updated the guidelines for the management of hematological malignancies in Lebanon. In 2019, it was followed by a second update. Given the rapidly changing evidence and general situation for COVID-19, the LSHBT established some recommendations and suggestions for the management of the patients with hematological malignancies taking into account the Lebanese condition, economic situation, and the facts that SARS-Cov-2 infection has apparently been devastating. In this article we present recommendations and proposals to reduce or to manage SARS-Cov-2 infection in the patients with myeloid and lymphoid hematological malignancies.Cancer immunotherapy has led to significant therapeutic progress in the treatment of metastatic and formerly untreatable tumors. However, drug response rates are variable and often only a subgroup of patients will show durable response to a treatment. Biomarkers that help to select those patients that will benefit the most from immunotherapy are thus of crucial importance. Here, we aim to identify such biomarkers by investigating the tumor microenvironment, i.e., the interplay between different cell types like immune cells, stromal cells and malignant cells within the tumor and developed a computational method that determines spatial tumor infiltration phenotypes. Our method is based on spatial point pattern analysis of immunohistochemically stained colorectal cancer tumor tissue and accounts for the intra-tumor heterogeneity of immune infiltration. We show that, compared to base-line models, tumor infiltration phenotypes provide significant additional support for the prediction of established biomarkers in a colorectal cancer patient cohort (n = 80). Integration of tumor infiltration phenotypes with genetic and genomic data from the same patients furthermore revealed significant associations between spatial infiltration patterns and common mutations in colorectal cancer and gene expression signatures. Based on these associations, we computed novel gene signatures that allow one to predict spatial tumor infiltration patterns from gene expression data only and validated this approach in a separate dataset from the Cancer Genome Atlas.

The expression of Wnt7a in colorectal cancer tissues and cell lines was analyzed, and the effect of Wnt7a on the proliferation of colorectal cancer cells was studied, so as to confirm the relationship between Wnt7a and the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer.

(1) Immunohistochemical method was used to compare the expression of Wnt7a in different tissues and its relationship with the clinicopathology of colorectal adenocarcinoma. (2) The expression levels of Wnt7a in colorectal cancer cell lines HT-29 and HCT 116 were detected by qRT-PCR. (3) The down-regulated Wnt7A expression vector was constructed, and the down-regulated Wnt7A expression cell line was established. The regeneration ability of cancer cells was detected by stem cell ball formation assay, and the influence of plate cloning assay on the proliferation ability of colorectal cancer cells was detected.

(1) The positive rates of Wnt7a in normal colorectal mucosa, colorectal adenoma and colorectal adenocarcinoma tissues gradually increased,Wnt7a are closely related to the degree of colorectal adenocarcinoma differentiation, lymph node metastasis and Duke stage. (2) The expression level of Wnt7a in colorectal cancer cells was higher than that in normal colorectal epithelial cells. (3) The down-regulation of Wnt7A reduced the proliferation ability of colorectal cancer cells.

To analyze the outcomes and toxicities of induction chemotherapy (ICT) followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) plus adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) in patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LA-NPC).

Retrospective analysis of 163 patients with LA-NPC referred from August 2015 to December 2018 was carried out. All patients underwent platinum-based ICT followed by CCRT plus ACT.

The median follow-up time was 40 months, ranging from 5 to 69 months. The 3-year disease-free survival (DFS), overall survival (OS), locoregional recurrence-free survival (LRRFS), and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) rates were 80.8, 90.0, 91.6, and 87.4%, respectively. The most frequent acute grade 3/4 adverse events were leukopenia (66.8%), neutropenia (55.8%), mucositis (41.1%), thrombocytopenia (27.0%), and anemia (14.7%).

ICT followed by CCRT plus ACT did not seemingly enhance DFS and OS in LA-NPC patients compared to the addition of ICT to CCRT (historical controls). In contrast, ICT followed by CCRT plus ACT had more acute adverse events than ICT followed by CCRT. This study was conceived to investigate whether Integrin alpha V (ITGAV) protein is present in urine and assess the urinary ITGAV diagnostic potential for PCa.

Urinary ITGAV expression was determined by Western blot analysis and quantified by ELISA in urine from men with PCa (n = 47), benign prostate hyperplasia (n = 42) and age-matched controls (n = 22).

The level of ITGAV protein was significantly lower in PCa urine samples as compared to those in the control group (p < 0.00001). The decrease of ITGAV in urine was highly predictive of PCa with 91.5% sensitivity, 91.4% specificity, 0.93 area under the ROC curve, and its specificity was better than that of serum PSA.

Urinary ITGAV provides a novel noninvasive biomarker with high specificity.
