Regarding the neutralizing potential of these anti-E1/-E2 antibodies, it was higher in rabbits immunized with apoE-bearing particles. In conclusion, the association of apoE with HCV envelope proteins may be a good strategy for improving HCV vaccines based on viral envelope proteins.Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a highly contagious viral respiratory illness. This illness is spurred on by a coronavirus known as SARS-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV). SARS was first detected in Asia in late February 2003. The genome of this virus is very similar to the SARS-CoV-2. Therefore, the study of SARS-CoV disease and the identification of effective drugs to treat this disease can be new clues for the treatment of SARS-Cov-2. This study aimed to discover novel potential drugs for SARS-CoV disease in order to treating SARS-Cov-2 disease based on a novel systems biology approach. To this end, gene co-expression network analysis was applied. First, the gene co-expression network was reconstructed for 1441 genes, and then two gene modules were discovered as significant modules. Next, a list of miRNAs and transcription factors that target gene co-expression modules' genes were gathered from the valid databases, and two sub-networks formed of transcription factors and miRNAs were established. Afterward, the list of the drugs targeting obtained sub-networks' genes was retrieved from the DGIDb database, and two drug-gene and drug-TF interaction networks were reconstructed. Finally, after conducting different network analyses, we proposed five drugs, including FLUOROURACIL, CISPLATIN, SIROLIMUS, CYCLOPHOSPHAMIDE, and METHYLDOPA, as candidate drugs for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus treatment. Moreover, ten miRNAs including miR-193b, miR-192, miR-215, miR-34a, miR-16, miR-16, miR-92a, miR-30a, miR-7, and miR-26b were found to be significant miRNAs in treating SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.Due to progressive abdominal-venous congestion severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is a common cause of cardiorenal and cardiohepatic syndrome. We initiated the TRICAVAL study to compare interventional valve implantation into the inferior vena cava (CAVI) versus optimal medical therapy (OMT) in severe TR. In the present subanalysis, we aimed to evaluate the effects of CAVI on clinical signs of congestion, renal and hepatic function. TRICAVAL was an investigator-initiated, randomized trial. Twenty-eight patients with severe TR were randomized to OMT or CAVI using an Edwards Sapien XT valve. Probands who completed the 3-month follow-up (CAVI [n = 8], OMT [n = 10]) were evaluated by medical history, clinical examination, and laboratory testing at baseline, 3 and 12 months. After 3 months, the CAVI group exhibited a significant reduction of body weight (from 80.7 [69.0-87.7] kg to 75.5 [63.8-84.6] kg, p  less then  0.05) and abdominal circumference (from 101.5 ± 13.8 cm to 96.3 ± 15.4 cm, p ≤ 0.01) and a trend to lower doses of diuretics compared to OMT. Renal and hepatic function parameters did not change significantly. Within a short-term follow-up, CAVI led to an improvement of clinical signs of venous congestion and a non-significant reduction of diuretic doses compared to OMT.This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of quantifying iodine-131 (131I) accumulation in scintigraphy images and compare planar and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images to estimate 131I radioactivity in patients receiving radioactive iodine therapy for thyroid cancer. We evaluated 72 sets of planar and SPECT images acquired between February 2017 and December 2018. Simultaneously, we placed a reference 131I capsule next to the patient during image acquisition. We evaluated the correlation between the intensity of the capsule in the images and the capsule dose and estimated the radiation dose at the thyroid bed. The mean capsule dose was 2.14 MBq (range, 0.63-4.31 MBq). The correlation coefficients (p-value) between capsule dose and maximum and mean intensities in both planar and SPECT images were 0.93 (p  less then  0.01), 0.96 (p  less then  0.01), 0.60 (p  less then  0.01), and 0.47 (p  less then  0.01), respectively. The mean intensities of planar images show the highest correlation coefficients. Based on a regression equation, the average radiation dose in the thyroid bed was 5.9 MBq. In conclusion, planar images reflected the radiation dose more accurately than SPECT images. The regression equation allows to determine the dose in other regions, such as the thyroid bed or sites of distant metastasis. This study compared macular capillary parameters between healthy black and white subjects using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). We measured vessel density (VD) of superficial (SCP), intermediate (ICP), and deep (DCP) capillary plexuses and choriocapillaris blood flow area (BFA) of the fovea, parafovea and total 3 mm-diameter circular area centered on the fovea, as well as the foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters, controlling for axial length. Black subjects had lower foveal and parafoveal VD in the SCP (p = 0.043 and p = 0.014) and the ICP (p = 0.014 and p = 0.002). In the DCP, black subjects had a trend toward lower foveal and parafoveal VD. Black subjects had decreased choriocapillaris BFA in the total 3 mm area (p = 0.011) and the parafovea (p = 0.033), larger FAZ area (p = 0.006) and perimeter (p = 0.014), and a higher capillary density in a 300 μm wide region around the FAZ (FD-300) (p = 0.001). There was no significant difference in FAZ acircularity index. To our knowledge, this is the first report analyzing the three distinct retinal capillary plexuses and identifying differing baseline VD, choriocapillaris and FAZ parameters in healthy young black compared to white subjects. Larger studies are needed to validate these findings and better understand racial differences in vulnerability to ocular diseases.Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily Q member 1 (KCNQ1) is one of the strongest susceptibility genes for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Association studies between KCNQ1 genetic variants and T2DM have been reported. The multifactorial disease T2DM is caused by interactions between genetic susceptibility and environmental factors. In this study, we examined the associations between the KCNQ1 haplotype, which consists of the major alleles rs3852528, rs11024175, and rs2237892 (ht ACC), and environmental factors such as alcohol consumption, which are related to the risk of T2DM, in two independent Korean populations. Data from health examination studies, i.e., HEXA (n = 50,357 subjects) and the Ansung-Ansan community-based Korean cohort study (n = 7603), were analyzed. In both cohorts, fasting blood glucose levels were significantly increased in moderate-to-heavy drinkers and carriers of the homozygous ACC haplotype. A significant association between the KCNQ1 haplotype and alcohol consumption in the risk of diabetes was observed in the HEXA (OR 1.587; 95% CI 1.128-2.234) and Ansung-Ansan (OR 2.165; 95% CI 1.175-3.989) cohorts compared with abstainers not carrying the KCNQ1 haplotype. Associations of the KCNQ1 haplotype with alcohol consumption and β-cell function were observed in the Ansung-Ansan cohort. Moderate-to-heavy drinkers with the ACC haplotype had lower fasting insulin levels and mean 60 min insulinogenic index (IGI60) compared with light drinkers and abstainers not carrying the ACC haplotype. These findings indicate that KCNQ1 variants play a synergistic role with alcohol consumption in the development of T2DM and impaired β-cell function. In Parkinson's disease (PD), the effects of both Ldopa and subthalamic deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) are known to change cost-valuation. However, this was mostly studied through reward-effort task involving distal movements, while axial effort, less responsive to treatments, have been barely studied. Thus, our objective was to compare the influence of both Ldopa and STN-DBS on cost-valuation between two efforts modalities vowel production (as an example of axial movement) and hand squeezing (as an example of distal movement). Twelve PD patients were recruited to participate in this study. The task consisted in deciding whether to accept or reject trials based on a reward-effort trade-off. Participants performed two blocks with hand squeezing, and two with vowel production, in the four treatment conditions (Ldopa On/Off; STN-DBS On/Off). We found that STN-DBS changed the ratio difference between hand and phonation efforts. Vowel production effort was estimated easier to perform with STN-DBS alone, and harder when associated with Ldopa. The difference between hand and phonation efforts was correlated with quality of life in Off/Off and On Ldopa alone conditions, and with impulsive assessment On STN-DBS alone. We highlighted that STN-DBS could introduce an imbalance between the actual motor impairments and their subjective costs. With this finding, we also suggest paying particular attention to the different treatment effects that should be expected for axial and distal movement dysfunctions.Alternative nutrient sources to fishmeal for fish feed, such as insect meals, represent a promising sustainable supply. However, the consequences for fish digestive function have not been exhaustively investigated. In the present study we evaluated the effect of partial fishmeal substitution with 10% Hermetia illucens (Hi10) larvae meal on the neuromuscular function of proximal and distal intestine in gilthead sea bream. In animals fed with insect meal, weight and growth parameters were similar to controls fed with conventional fishmeal. In addition, no anomalies in intestinal gross morphology and no overt signs of inflammation were observed. The gastrointestinal transit was significantly reduced in Hi10 fed animals. In the proximal and distal intestine longitudinal muscle, Hi10 feeding downregulated the excitatory cholinergic and serotoninergic transmission. Selleckchem Vorinostat Sodium nitroprusside-induced inhibitory relaxations increased in the proximal intestine and decreased in the distal intestine after Hi10 meal. Changes in the excitatory and inhibitory components of peristalsis were associated with adaptive changes in the chemical coding of both proximal and distal intestine myenteric plexus. However, these neuromuscular function alterations were not associated with considerable variations in morphometric growth parameters, suggesting that 10% Hi meal may represent a tolerable alternative protein source for gilthead sea bream diets. The instability of slope has already threatened life and property safety of the people, and improving the monitoring method of slope stability has important theoretical and practical significance for disaster prevention and reduction. According to the idea of "Newton force sudden drop and catastrophic occurrence" proposed by M.C. He in the landslide monitoring, a numerical model with constant resistance bolt has been established. Through numerical simulation research, it is found that the maximum principal stress, minimum principal stress and shear stress of the intersection point P of landslide surface and constant resistance bolt are sudden growth and sudden decrease, the vertical displacement and lateral displacement of this point P appear rise and fall before three kinds of stress. When loading to the next step of the step where three stress have reduced to a minimum value the slope is unstable and destroyed. At this time, the constant resistance bolt has undergone larger plastic deformation and damaged. Finally, comparing the stress curves and the acoustic emission (AE) curves, it can be seen that stress decreases from the maximum value and the AE curves begin to show a significant rise, the two curves display opposite law.
