These can be the justification for the high number of oral and urinary candidiasis in the whole world.Food poisoning is still the first cause of hospitalization worldwide and the most common microbial agent, Campylobacter jejuni, is the most commonly reported gastrointestinal disease in humans in the EU (European Union) as is reported by the European Union One Health 2018 Zoonoses Report styled by the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) and ECDC (European Center for Disease Prevention and Control). One of the vehicles of transmission of this disease is milk. Nanostructured MOS (Metal Oxide Semiconductor) sensors have extensively demonstrated their ability to reveal the presence and follow the development of microbial species. The main objective of this work was to find a set up for the detection and development follow up of C. jejuni in milk samples. The work was structured in two different studies, the first one was a feasibility survey and the second one was to follow up the development of the bacteria inside milk samples. The obtained results of the first study demonstrate the ability of the sensor array to differentiate the contaminated samples from the control ones. Thanks to the second study, it has been possible to find the limit of microbial safety of the contaminated milk samples.Relatively few studies have been focused so far on magnesium-isotope fractionation during plant growth, element uptake from soil, root-to-leaves transport and during chlorophylls biosynthesis. In this work, maize and garden cress were hydroponically grown in identical conditions in order to examine if the carbon fixation pathway (C4, C3, respectively) might have impact on Mg-isotope fractionation in chlorophyll-a. The pigment was purified from plants extracts by preparative reversed phase chromatography, and its identity was confirmed by high-resolution mass spectrometry. The green parts of plants and chlorophyll-a fractions were acid-digested and submitted to ion chromatography coupled through desolvation system to multiple collector inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. Clear preference for heavy Mg-isotopes was found in maize green parts (∆26Mgplant-nutrient 0.65, 0.74 for two biological replicates, respectively) and in chlorophyll-a (∆26Mgchlorophyll-plant 1.51, 2.19). this website In garden cress, heavy isotopes were depleted in green parts (∆26Mgplant-nutrient (-0.87)-(-0.92)) and the preference for heavy isotopes in chlorophyll-a was less marked relative to maize (∆26Mgchlorophyll-plant 0.55-0.52). The observed effect might be ascribed to overall higher production of energy in form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), required for carbon fixation in C4 compared to C3, which could reduce kinetic barrier and make equilibrium fractionation prevailing during magnesium incorporation to protoporphyrin ring.In this paper, a wavelength tunable colloidal-crystal laser with monodispersed silica particles was demonstrated. Silica particles were synthesized through the modified Stöber process and self-assembled into the colloidal photonic-crystal structure, which was then used to form the optic cavity of a wavelength tunable laser device. Due to Bragg's diffraction of the colloidal photonic-crystal and the coffee ring effect, the forbidden energy gap of light varied with different lattice sizes at different positions of the colloidal photonic-crystal. When the pumping pulsed laser irradiated on the gain medium of the sample, the fluorescence was restricted and enhanced by the colloidal photonic-crystal. Lasing emission with a single peak occurred when the energy of the pumping laser exceeded the threshold energy. The threshold energy and the full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the proposed laser were 7.63 µJ/pulse and 2.88 nm, respectively. Moreover, the lasing wavelength of the colloidal photonic-crystal laser could be tuned from 604 nm to 594 nm, corresponding to the various positions in the sample due to the coffee ring effect.Microelectromechanical system (MEMS)-based mass sensors are proposed as potential candidates for highly sensitive chemical and gas detection applications owing to their miniaturized structure, low power consumption, and ease of integration with readout circuits. This paper presents a new approach in developing micromachined mass sensors based on capacitive and piezoelectric transducer configurations for use in low concentration level gas detection in a complex environment. These micromachined sensors operate based on a shift in their center resonant frequencies. This shift is caused by a change in the sensor's effective mass when exposed to the target gas molecules, which is then correlated to the gas concentration level. In this work, capacitive and piezoelectric-based micromachined sensors are investigated and their principle of operation, device structures and configurations, critical design parameters and their candidate fabrication techniques are discussed in detail. For massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) distributed wireless sensor networks, this paper investigates the role of multi-antenna sensors in improving network perception performance. First, we construct a distributed multi-antenna sensor network based on massive MIMO. By using the anti-fading characteristics of multi-antennas, it is better to achieve accurate detection than the single-antenna sensor network. Based on this, we derive a closed-loop expression for the detection probability of the best detector. Then, we consider the case that the sensor power resources are limited, and thus we want to use finite power to achieve higher detection probability. For this reason, the power was optimized by the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Moreover, we also prove that only statistical channel state is needed in large-scale antenna scenarios, which avoid the huge overhead of channel state information. Finally, according to the simulation results, the multi-antenna sensor network has better detection performance than the single-antenna sensor network which demonstrates the improved performance of the proposed schemes and also validates the theoretical findings.
