To evaluate the long-term oncological and functional results of the ablative treatment of T1a kidney malignancies by percutaneous radiofrequency (RF).

Monocentric retrospective study including all patients treated for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) T1a by radiofrequency, in our center, from 2005 to 2009. All patients had a tumor biopsy before treatment. The primary endpoint was local recurrence. A total of 44 RCCs in 41 consecutive patients were treated (1 patient had 3 synchronous tumors and 1 patient had 2 tumors). There were 26 clear cell RCCs, 13 papillary RCCs and 5 chromophobe RCCs. The median age at diagnosis was 70 years [48-82]. The median American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score was 2 [1-3] and the median glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was 64mL/min [26-109]. Furhman grade was defined for 39 tumors (Clear cell RCC and papillary RCC), of which 82% were grade 1-2. The median tumor size was 20mm [11-40], and the median RENAL score was 4 [4-6]. Complications were assessed according to the Clavien-Dindo classification. CYT387 Overall survival, recurrence-free survival and metastasis-free survival were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method.

Median follow-up was 90.5 months [17.8-145.3]. Three (7%) local recurrences were reported within a median of 26 months [12-93]. All were treated by a 2nd RF. The overall 10-year survival was 70% (95% CI [56-85]). The 10-year recurrence-free survival was 72% (95% CI [57-88]). The 10-year metastasis-free survival was 87% (95% CI [74-97]). The median GFR on the date of the last news was 51mL/min [16-98] (P=0.05). Post-RFA complications consisted in 5 (11.3%) Clavien-Dindo 1-2 complications. No high grade (Clavien ≥3).

Percutaneous radiofrequency for RCC T1a is an alternative. It appears to be safe with low morbidity, satisfaying long-term oncological and functional results, but a risk of reprocessing of 7%.

The objective of this study is to present the history of cancers of the external genital organs of male in Hérault using data from the Hérault tumor register (RTH) over a period of 30 years.

Using the RTH database, we studied the development of testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) and penile cancer (PC) over 30 years, from 1987 to 2016. We analyzed the incidence and mortality data for these tumors. We compared these results to French, European and global data.

In 30 years of registration we have recorded 725 cases of TGCT and 175 cases of PC. The age standardized incidence rate (ASR) of TGCT has doubled between 1987 and 2016 (4.2 per 100,000 in 1987 and 9.3 per 100,000 in 2016). It was multiplied by 2.63 in the population of patients aged 30 to 44. There is a decrease of the mortality rate with a ASR of 0.8 deaths per 100,000 in 1987, and 0.4/100 000 in 2016. The PC incidence ASR was stable between 1987 and 2016 (0.4-0.9/100,000). Mortality is stable with a ASR between 0.1 and 0.3 deaths per 100,000 between 1987 and 2016.

The incidence of TGCT has increased sharply in the Hérault over the past 30years, while a decrease in mortality has been observed. The proportion of seminomas is increasing; it has gone from 53% to 60% in 30years in the Hérault. The incidence and mortality of PC shows a stability in the Hérault over the past 30years.

Implantation of penile prosthesis is constantly growing but little long-term data is available concerning the associated factors of prosthesis survival. Our aim was to describe the long-term survival of penile prostheses and to identify factors influencing long-term prosthesis survival.

This is a retrospective, monocentric cohort of patients who underwent their first implantation of a penile prosthesis, between May 2000 and March 2017, at the Reims University Hospital. Prosthesis survival was calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method. A univariate and multivariate analysis to estimate the risk of surgical removal/revision of the prosthesis was performed using a Cox model.

150 patients were included, and 61 patients underwent surgical removal of the prosthesis (40.7%). Mean follow-up was 76.12 months (0-176 months). Prosthesis survival was 69.7% at 5 years (95% CI, 62.2-77.3) and 58.5% at 10 years (95% CI, 50.0-66.9). In multivariate analysis, the factors influencing prosthesis survival were type of prosthesis (other vs. Coloplast TITAN®, HR 1.89, CI 95%, 1.03-3.45) and prosthesis final length (20-29cm vs. 12-17cm, HR 0.27, 95% CI, 0.09-0.77).

At 10 years, the penile prosthesis survival is close to 60%. Type of implant and final length of the prosthesis may have a significant influence in long-term prosthesis survival. Patients undergoing penile prosthesis implantation must be informed about the risk of surgical removal/revision of the prosthesis.

3.Glial subtype diversity is an emerging topic in neurobiology and immune-mediated neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS). We discuss recent conceptual and technological advances that allow a better understanding of the transcriptomic and functional heterogeneity of oligodendrocytes (OLs), astrocytes, and microglial cells under inflammatory-demyelinating conditions. Recent single cell transcriptomic studies suggest the occurrence of novel homeostatic and reactive glial subtypes and provide insight into the molecular events during disease progression. Multiplexed RNA in situ hybridization has enabled 'mapping back' dysregulated gene expression to glial subtypes within the MS lesion microenvironment. These findings suggest novel homeostatic and reactive glial-cell-type functions both in immune-related processes and neuroprotection relevant to understanding the pathology of MS.Toxocariasis is a zoonosis disease with high sero-prevalence in Southeast Asian. Neurotoxocariasis has never been reported in Taiwan. Herein, we presented 2 cases of neurotoxocariasis. The first case is a 48-year-old man with febrile headache, rapid progressive cognitive problems and later thoracic myelitis. Meningeal enhancements on the corresponding sites were found on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Eosinophilic pleocytosis was present in peripheral blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). A positive Toxocara canis larval excretory-secretory antigen (TcES)-based immunoblotting test for CSF confirmed the diagnosis. The second case is a 42-year-old woman of progressive headache with features of increased intracranial pressure. CSF analysis showed lymphocytic pleocytosis initially and eosinophilic pleocytosis later. Her brain MRI was normal. The diagnosis was confirmed by the presence of anti-TcES IgG in CSF. The two cases were soonly cured by mebendazole. Neurotoxocariasis presented a broad spectrum of neurological symptoms and the CSF profile can be non-eosinophilic pleocytosis.
