Diablo 4 Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are upgrade components that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an added benefit. They typically have more cost and require the item to be at an appropriate level.

Items with very high requirements generally don't see much value in being upgraded. This is particularly applicable to items that don't roll with a lot of variation like Eth titans.

Glyphs

After reaching level 50 in Diablo 4, Blizzard's action RPG takes a turn from its simple campaign to the final phase. This is when things really start to change, with players pushed into the Paragon Board leveling system, Nightmare Dungeons and brand new grinds that ensure their character's building is as robust as it can be.

Glyphs are an essential component to this progression. Glyphs' stats and impact radius on the Paragon Board are boosted by increasing their upgrade level. There are a variety of ways to acquire these upgrades, but most players will rely on the primary method of raiding Faction Crypts.

The Glyphs panel lets you insert glyphs into your text by selecting them from the menu on the left of the screen. It displays glyphs initially in the font where your cursor is located but you can switch to a different font or type style, and you can limit the glyphs available to a subset by choosing one of the options below the Entire Font (for instance Punctuation shows only punctuation symbols). You can view the CID/GID value as well as the Unicode value of the glyph by moving your pointer.

After you've added several glyphs, the Glyphs panel will keep the track of the last 35 distinct ones you've used and make them available under the category of Recently Used on the first row of the panel (you must expand the panel to view all 35). You can also remove the glyph from the list by clicking it using the right-click option or Control-click and selecting Remove from Recent Glyphs.

Another advantage of the Glyphs panel is the ability to create and edit the glyph set you want to use, which is helpful when you have to write certain types of text often. This will save you the hassle of manually inserting each glyph every time you require it.

A custom glyph can have a maximum of 30 glyphs. This includes both the base name and its suffix. The glyphs used in the base name must be uppercase English letters (A-Z), lowercase English letters (a-z), European digits (0-9), and underscore (_). The suffix can also include ligatures, or contextual alternative. These are special variations that combine two or more letters into a single glyph.

Reroll Tokens

Upgrades are the primary mechanic that offers benefits on items, like additional stats. They are available in three different types: rerolling and recycling and leveling up. Each type offers a distinct set of extra bonuses on an item.

Reroll Tokens allow players to change the base power of an item and number of upgrades as well as be used to reroll substats of ring. This is beneficial for players who want to upgrade their item however the "potential" power of that item isn't what they want. Or if their item's substats aren't optimal.

Rerolling an item is costing 1 token and will reset the upgrades, but keep the rarity, set, and level intact. Leveling an item up increases its tier and with each tier, the main stat is increased by +3, while a random extra stat is also boosted. The rank of an item rises by 1 when you raise an item to the maximum achievable level.

The Blueprint Desk is a tool that allows players to purchase new appliances, ingredients, and Decorations for their restaurants. Blueprints appear as envelopes at the start of each Preparation phase. They can be opened using Grab. Each blueprint has its own icon, and every category of upgradeable item displays a different icon:

Some recipes require specific appliances or ingredients that are available by selecting a Franchise Card from the Blueprint Desk. Certain appliances and ingredients are considered staple which means they will never be available at the Shop or through a reroll, whereas others have a higher chance of appearing if a certain Franchise Card is selected from the Blueprint Desk. This is called the Staple Pool, and the items that are in it will remain in that pool for the duration of the run. When purchased from the Blueprint Desk, non-staple equipment is also transferred to the Seed Pool.

Recycled Items

The third "R," recycle, is where the magic really occurs. You can help the environment by recycling a product made of recycled material. This is because most items that are recycled are returned to their manufacturer of the original to be remanufactured into another product. This is referred to as "closing of the recycling loop."

When someone puts something in their curbside recycling bin it is sent to a Materials Recovery Facility where it is separated and sorting. Then, it can be sold on to manufacturers who can re-make the item. Remade products include:

This reduces the necessity to harvest, grow or extract raw materials to make something else. This helps reduce the harm done to nature; fewer trees are cut down rivers are diverted and wild animals are displaced. It also reduces the amount of pollution that is caused by dumping substances into our soil, water and the air.

As item upgrade added bonus Recycling products keep local jobs and businesses in business, particularly those that specialize in the production of goods made using recycled materials. This is due to the fact that demand for these products encourages businesses to join in this eco-friendly initiative.

The final reason to purchase recycled items is that it requires less energy to produce new products using recycled materials than to create them from raw materials. This is due to the manufacturing process of creating a new aluminum can requires 95% more energy than the production of the same aluminum can made from recycled material. Every little part is important.

Leveling

The majority of units can be leveled up, which gives them extra XP each time they fight or are attacked. This can be used to increase the primary stat of the unit or unlock additional improvements on the unit's development tree. Weapons are an excellent example of this, since they can be upgraded to increase their damage and range.

Most leveling systems have an arbitrary number of levels that have to be completed, however this can vary from game-to-game. The use of materials or coins is the only way to go up. Most systems employ both, though some employ one.

In many games, leveling can be an issue because it makes certain units too powerful and other units aren't able to be competitive. Limiting the amount of leveling players are allowed to do will force them to consider what they'd like to upgrade, and the reasons behind it.
