Furthermore, the effect of surfactant treatment on some physiological characteristics of Azolla was studied. The surfactant bioremoval efficiency was studied under variable conditions including treatment time, initial surfactant concentration, Azolla fresh weight, temperature, and pH. Results showed that surfactant removal efficiency of A. filiculoides was significantly enhanced with increasing of temperature, initial surfactant concentration, and amount of Azolla. SDBS led to a reduction in growth rate and total chlorophyll content, but effect index of Azolla increased by higher concentrations of surfactant. In contrast, antioxidant enzymes activities including polyphenol oxidase, ascorbate peroxidase, catalase, and peroxidase, as well as nonenzymatic antioxidants such as total carotenoids and anthocyanin contents significantly increased probably due to the ability of plant to overcome oxidative stress induced by SDBS. An increase in antioxidant activity based on 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH) confirmed this fact. An increase in the amount of hydrogen peroxide and reduction in membrane stability index indicated the induction of oxidative stress. As a result of SDBS biodegradation, 6 homologs of sulfophenyl carboxylates (SPCs) including C2 to C7-SPC and benzenesulfonate ring were identified by liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy (LC-MS) analysis.In Pakistan, rice is considered as the second staple food and provides livelihoods to the millions of the farm households. During recent years, rice production in Pakistan significantly decreased reportedly due to changes in climate and its induced risks. According to the findings, the majority of the farmers were found risk-averse in behavior, while perceptions varied among different kinds of risks. Among the five kinds of risks, biological and financial risks were conceived as high risk, followed by the climate, biophysical, and social risk. Moreover, probit regression indicated farmers' age, education, landholding, off-farm income, advisory access, and credit utilization among the significant determinants of farmers' risk perceptions and attitudes. These findings suggest adopting a comprehensive approach with extended institutional and adaptation support to deal with various kinds of risks being faced by rice farmers in Pakistan. The heavy metals included in the component of air pollution occupy an important position in human health since they could remain intact in nature for a long time and build bioaccumulation, and also some of them are toxic or carcinogenic even at some low concentrations. Even the heavy metals functioning as micronutrient element could create toxic effect for human beings at the high concentrations. For this reason, the determination of the heavy metal concentration has an important role in terms of the detection of risky regions and risky level. One of the primary sources of heavy metals is industrial plants where the heavy metal ores are processed. Those regions might have risks at high level in terms of particular heavy metals. Consequently, it is significant to find out in which level they influence the area around these plants and to what extent the heavy metal pollution is effective. In this study, Ba, Zn, Cd, K, and Na concentrations are determined by analyzing the samples which are taken from 1- and 2-year-old needles of Scots pines (Pinus sylvestris L.) growing in 1 km, 3 km, 10 km and 25 km distances around a processing and mining of magnesite ore in Russia. In the end of the study, it is concluded that generally, the concentrations of heavy metals subject to the study are increasing depending upon the distance, and this increase is quite apparent in some elements, and finally in many points, the concentrations determined in 2-year-old needles have higher levels than 1-year-old needles.PURPOSE To describe the oncologic and obstetric outcomes of patients diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer (ICC) and in situ adenocarcinoma (ISA) during pregnancy or during the year following delivery. METHODS This retrospective observational study involved a cohort of 28 patients diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer (20 patients) or in situ adenocarcinoma (eight patients) during pregnancy or during the year following delivery who received expert opinion from physicians of the Cancer Associé à La Grossesse (CALG) network between 2005 and 2018. Descriptive results were expressed in median, range and interquartile range (IQR). RESULTS Between 2005 and 2018, 20 patients with ICC and eight with ISA received expert opinion from physicians of the CALG network. Both ICC and ISA were mostly diagnosed during pregnancy with a median term at diagnosis of 23.3 weeks of gestation (WG) for ICC and 7.3 WG for ISA. Overall, the median age at diagnosis for both ICC and ISA was 33 years. Most ICCs (n = 9) had FIGO stage ≥ IB2 and five underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy at a median term of 22.5 WG. Seventeen patients with ICC underwent surgery. Three patients had medical termination of the pregnancy. Two patients experienced recurrence and three died. Median time of follow-up was 59.3 months (IQR 30.5-129.2).
