Lymphoma, ovarian cancer, and lung and bronchus cancer had significantly increasing trends in Taiwan but not in the U.S. Although cervical cancer had significantly decreasing trends in both nations among those 30-39 years of age, its trend was significantly increasing in Taiwan but decreasing in the U.S. Pyroxamide among those 20-29 years of age.

In addition, these back-to-back studies uncovered a sharp increase in the numbers of micronuclei and lagging chromosomes in pre-cancerous and cancerous epithelium in response to prolonged PMN exposure. Given the emerging link between neutrophils and micronuclei as well as the established role of micronuclei in cGAS/STING activation, this special commentary aims to elaborate on the mechanisms by which CRC cells may adapt to neutrophil-driven genomic instability while concurrently sustain an inflamed tumor niche. We postulate that such tumor microenvironment with constant immune cell presence, inflammatory milieu, and cumulative DNA damage can drive tumor adaptation and resistance to therapeutic interventions. Phototheranostics has recently received considerable attention by virtue of its various distinctive advantages. With the aid of an EGFR-targeting-peptide-modified amphiphilic polymer, the as-prepared DCTBT-loaded liposomes is capable of effectively accumulating at and visualizing pancreatic tumor, as well as significantly suppressing the tumor growth on both subcutaneous and orthotopic PANC-1 tumor mice models. This study thus brings useful insights into designing the next generation of cancer theranostic agents for potential clinical applications.

To provide a comprehensive characterization of verbal learning and memory (VLM) abilities in youth with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and plexiform neurofibromas (PNs) and to evaluate disease severity as a predictor of VLM functioning over time.

As part of a longitudinal natural history study, youth with NF1 and PNs were administered repeat neuropsychological assessments, including measures of VLM and ratings of NF1 disease severity completed by a medical professional. This sub-study analyzed data from 89 patients (M age

=13.1, SD=4.3 years, range 6-24 years) who had completed tests of VLM abilities and verbal attention at either baseline and/or 36 months.

VLM scores across the sample fell predominantly within the average range of functioning at both time points. However, relative to peers with mild NF1 disease severity, youth with moderate/severe NF1 disease showed lower functioning across multiple VLM domains at 36 months, even after controlling for the effects of verbal attention.

Exclusive use of overall domain scores does not fully characterize VLM functioning in youth with NF1 and PNs. Additionally, children and adolescents with more severe NF1 disease should be monitored more closely for verbal memory challenges and targeted for interventions.

Patient expectations related to physical therapy outcomes are commonly collected through surveys and close-ended questionnaires. These methods may not optimally capture patients' expectations for physical therapy, especially in the patients' own words. Louis Gifford identified four questions attempting to guide clinicians' understanding of patients' expectations for physical therapy. However, a qualitative assessment mapping the expectations that patients have prior to starting physical therapy appears to be undocumented.

The aim of this study was to determine patient expectations prior to beginning physical therapy for individuals with musculoskeletal conditions.

Qualitative analysis with structured interviews and open-ended participant responses.

Twenty-five people (18 female, 7 male; mean age 47.04 years) were interviewed prior to their initial physical therapy evaluation using a pragmatic approach rooted in phenomenology. Data were transcribed, coded, and thematized using qualitative data analysis software.

Outcome, education, exercise, evaluation, and cause of pain were key themes expressed by participants. Participants appear to want to better understand their symptoms, how they can improve symptoms, what the clinician will do, and how long they will attend physical therapy. Many participants were not certain where physical therapy fit within their overall healthcare plan, and perceptions of manual therapy were vague.

These identified themes highlight what patients may expect from a physical therapy experience and clinicians should work to identify and satisfy each patient's individual expectations to optimize outcomes.

Iridium based nanomaterials are less studied than metals like gold, silver or platinum. A specific feature of iridium nanomaterials is the relatively small size nanoparticles and clusters easily obtained, e.g. by colloidal syntheses. Progress over the years overcomes the related challenging characterization and it is expected that the knowledge on iridium chemistry and nanomaterials will be growing. Although Ir nanoparticles have been preferred systems for the development of kinetic-based models of nanomaterial formation, there is surprisingly little knowledge on the actual formation mechanism(s) of iridium nanoparticles. Following the impulse from the high expectations on Ir nanoparticles as catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction in electrolyzers, new areas of applications of iridium materials have been reported while more established applications are being revisited. This review covers different synthetic strategies of iridium nanoparticles and provides an in breadth overview of applications reported. Comprehensive Tables and more detailed topic-oriented overviews are proposed in Supplementary Material, covering synthesis protocols, the historical role or iridium nanoparticles in the development of nanoscience and applications in catalysis.

In psychiatric literature, few original studies exist on the topic of demoralization in suicide. In this review, we aim to identify original studies on suicidal ideation (SI)/suicidal behavior (SB) and demoralization in populations of community-dwellers and patients with somatic or psychiatric disorders.

We employed a systematic approach that followed PRISMA guidelines, searching through four major electronic databases (PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Science Direct, and PsychINFO) for relevant titles/abstracts published from January 1980-June 2021. We included original studies that explicitly mentioned the investigation of a potential association between SI/SB and demoralization.

A total of 18 studies met our inclusion criteria. Their synthesis revealed that demoralization can be associated with SI/SB in a wide range of populations (community dwellers, patients with somatic or psychiatric disorders) and lead to significantly higher suicide risk (odds ratios of >6 were encountered in community dwellers experrgency Departments (EDs) where heterogeneous population typologies are usually admitted and a clinical diagnosis of depression is often difficult to be defined. ii. Additionally, since meaninglessness is considered one of the demoralization subcomponents, meaning-centered psychotherapeutic approaches prove to be indicated and they can be initiated already at the EDs upon first contact with the patient. Further studies are necessary to confirm these findings.

HPV-16 causes approximately 90% of anal canal (AC) cancers worldwide. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and persistence of HPV-16 genetic variants in the AC of men from three different countries (Brazil, Mexico and United States) and to further identify sociodemographic and behavioral factors associated with these infections.

Participants from the multinational prospective HPV Infection in Men (HIM) Study who had at least one HPV-16 positive AC swab were included. Characterization into HPV-16 genetic variants was successfully performed by PCR-sequencing in 95.6% (217/227) samples and these were classified into HPV-16 lineages and sublineages.

We observed higher prevalence of lineage A variants, mainly from A1 sublineage, in all countries. Non-A lineage variants were mostly detected in men from Brazil, where higher diversity of sublineage variants was detected during follow-up. Compare to men detected with Non-A HPV-16 lineage variants, men infected with lineage A reported a higher lifetime number of female sexual partners. Finally, a significantly higher prevalence of Non-A lineage variants was observed among men who have sex with men (MSM) with a transient HPV-16 AC infection (p=0.033), but no significant differences regarding variants lineages and persistence status were observed when stratified by country, self-reported ethnicity or age.

Our data extend previous reports which indicate that globally HPV-16 variants are unevenly distributed, and contribute further to studies of the natural history of AC HPV infections in men.
