The upgrade of an item allows players to boost an item's gear rating up to 700 points and add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Weapons

The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and level. For example, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.

Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is generally a good thing, it can have some negative effects as well. In the case of items that only see use in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them could make them unusable unless you get a lucky roll.

Items of armor can also be upgraded to boost their stats. This will increase the defense of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it can sometimes reroll to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain upon upgrading, as well as the relative values of those stats. This means that an upgrade from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in the weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon can be possible by pressing the green button on the item menu using the arrows that are circling. This will roll the item and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's levels or connect to the status of your account.

Armor

There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game, and to unlock them all, you have to complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor is different. It is possible to use anything from three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, for instance, can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which allows you to keep up in frigid environments with a large number of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded as high as +20 defense to ensure you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.

You can't upgrade armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or spell power. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions are not able to be used in cauldrons. Additionally, using a potentio in a cauldron that is full drains the liquid and replenishes the bottle.

There are also simmering potions that are made using splash and dragon breath potions. In the same way, a lingering potion' effect is extended by adding redstone.
