Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Upgrades to items allow players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade item s, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or received from chests or missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.

There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the item's name. For instance, adding the suffix Glyph could transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant differences from the previous versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks and each item can be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

This will allow the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Each upgrade step will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the choice to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials but will result in less chance of success.

To measure the height of a structure, engineers will employ an instrument to compare the measurement to a known reference point like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to the highest degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can dramatically increase the strength of an item and damage as well as other characteristics. You can do this via the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be done sparingly.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which can be used to obtain Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.

Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes that made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more often than other items. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This could be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to normal affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the better chances of obtaining a unique bonus.





The game also features several sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is a great method to give an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling is a method to get a more powerful character faster, which allows you to progress in the game and attain higher tiers.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They could be of various sizes, contain none of the elements, or contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways in terms of size and shape.

Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items up to parity with the different tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items could increase their defense and make them more competitive when it comes to damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements of specific items.
