MELD exceptions are designed to equipoise liver transplant waiting list survival. We aimed to analyze the impact of the MELD Upgrade rule and all other MELD exceptions on the liver transplant waiting list outcomes during 2012-2017 in Switzerland.

We conducted a nationwide cohort study including all adult patients registered on the Swiss liver transplant waiting list between 2012 and 2017. Waiting list mortality and access to transplantation were analyzed, considering MELD exceptions as time-dependent covariates.

730 patients were included. Patients with MELD Upgrade exceptions had a higher risk of dying while on the waiting list (OR 2.13; CI 95% 1.30-3.47) and also an increased likelihood of receiving a liver transplantation, when compared to patients without MELD exceptions. Patients with any type of MELD exceptions were more likely to be transplanted when compared to patients without MELD exceptions. The proportion of patients with MELD exceptions increased from 2012 to 2017 (44% vs 88%). Allocation MELD at the time of transplantation showed an annual increase (23±8 points vs 32±5 points, p<0.001).

The aim of this retrospective study is to compare the radiation dose received during CEDM, short and long protocol (CEDM SP and CEDM LP), with dose received during DM and DBT on patients with varying breast thickness, age and density.

Between January 2019 and December 2019, patients having 6214 DM, 3662 DBT and 173 CEDM examinations in our department were analyzed. Protocol total single breast AGD has been evaluated for all clinical imaging protocols, extracting AGD values and exposure data from the dose DICOM Structured Report (SR) information stored in the hospital PACS system. Protocol AGD was calculated as the sum of single projection AGDs carried out in every exam for each clinical protocol. A total amount of 23,383 exams for each breast were analyzed. Protocol AGDs, stratified as a function of patient breast compression thickness, age, and breast density were assessed.

The total protocol AGD median values for each protocol are 2.8 mGy for DM, 3.2 mGy for DBT, 6.0 mGy for DM+DBT, 4.5 mGy for CEDM S SP is lower in patients with dense breasts regardless of their size. Data on patients who were admitted for a primary BS procedure in France between January 1 and April 1, 2014, were extracted from the French national health insurance system database. Data on patients' characteristics, preoperative assessment, hospitalization, and postoperative follow-up, including medical consultations, laboratory tests, and drug consumption, during the year preceding and the 2 years after BS were collected.

Most of the 11,824 patients (60.4%) had sleeve gastrectomy. Rates of reimbursement for preoperative consultations with general practitioners, digestive surgeons, and endocrinologists or internists were 94.5%, 89.2%, and 63%, reollow-up in general and patient adherence to micronutrient supplementation in particular.

We performed a retrospective, multicenter observational study of patients with EG malignancies after bariatric surgery to characterize this condition.

This study includes 170 patients from 75 centers in 25 countries who underwent bariatric procedures between 1985 and 2020. At the time of the bariatric procedure, the mean age was 50.2 ± 10 years, and the mean weight 128.8 ± 28.9 kg. Women composed 57.3% (n = 98) of the population. Most (n = 64) patients underwent a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) followed by adjustable gastric band (AGB; n = 46) and sleeve gastrectomy (SG; n = 43). Time to cancer diagnosis after bariatric surgery was 9.5 ± 7.4 years, and mean weight at diagnosis was 87.4 ± 21.9 kg. The time lag was 5.9 ± 4.1 years after SG compared to 9.4 ± 7.1 years after RYGB and 10.5 ± 5.7 years after AGB. One third of patients presented with metastatic disease. The majority of tumors were adenocarcinoma (82.9%). Approximately 1 in 5 patients underwent palliative treatment from the outset. Time from diagnosis to mortality was under 1 year for most patients who died over the intervening period.

More research is needed to identify whether knowledge of vaccine approval processes relates to vaccination intentions.

The objectives of this study were to (1) evaluate participants' knowledge regarding COVID-19 and vaccine approval processes, (2) evaluate participants' intentions to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, and (3) compare participants' knowledge assessment results with COVID-19 vaccine intentions.

A prospective, cross-sectional questionnaire was administered to patients participating in a pharmacist-led chronic disease state management program. We performed a single-center, retrospective analysis of specialty oncology prescriptions electronically prescribed between January and December 2018. For prostate cancer, accurate prediction of the pathological stage before surgery is very important. Therefore, the aim of the present study was establishing the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) threshold nomogram to predict pathologically advanced prostate cancer using the novel method of area under the receiver operating characteristic curve boosting (AUCBoost).

The medical records of patients with clinically localized prostate cancer who underwent robot-assisted radical prostatectomy were retrospectively reviewed. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to identify clinical covariates significantly associated with pathological tumor stage ≥3a. The best combination of the variables was determined by validated values of the area under the curve (AUC). The optimal individualized PSA threshold values were developed using AUCBoost.

In the multivariate logistic regression analysis, PSA, prostate volume, clinical tumor stage, Gleason Grade Group, the number of positive cores, and the percentage of positive cores were independent predictive factors for pathological tumor stage ≥3a.
