Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of many Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading the performance of them. They can be a great source of additional damage, more AD or even more attaches.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to the more modernized Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item that they're connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to the highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. However, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than it was before.

There are a variety of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. For example, some upgrades will give the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others will make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Certain upgrades require charges in order to be used. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades are updated every day or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Jewels

The Jeweler can craft the highest levels of gems with the exception of rare and legendary ones that you must attain a certain level to get. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in an equipment piece only once.

The use of more jewels in a move can make it feel more comfortable, and is often done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Jewels also enhance performance and create an outer layer that is more durable than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be traded, but they're not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like traits or aegis cannot be swapped, and can only be recovered through an upgrade extractor, or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that bestow a wide range of small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They are available in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but valuable boost in movement speed and evasion. The player can then collect rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar manner to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be placed in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that are active even when the character is not fighting. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also make up for the absence of excellent slots in the team or talent tree which are usually filled by the hero's best stats.

A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. In the beginning of the game, players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players typically choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's map control abilities.





Apart from the items mentioned above, players can also discover a variety of other trinkets in the game in the form of awards and trophies.
