Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of many Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading the performance of them. They can be a great source of additional damage, more AD or even more attaches.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to the more modernized Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item that they're connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to the highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. However, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than it was before.

There are a variety of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. For example, some upgrades will give the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others will make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Certain upgrades require charges in order to be used. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades are updated every day or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in stats and are a worthwhile cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

The player must be aware that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level can boost its defense. However, it can also decrease the speed and agility of the piece. This is why it is generally not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces beyond +9, since the added defense is typically not worth the extra weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that improve their innate characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee of a set number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars you will need to complete the upgrade. The cost of upgrading will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets was a bit different. In the past you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a set amount of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher quality. You could continue doing this until you reach a max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would be reset.

This is still possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear with low upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a higher chance of granting you the highest level of benefits and blessings.

The majority of players will prioritize upgrades to the weapons they most often use to allow them to progress faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons their teammates utilize to increase their power. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in weapons and armor. They can be created using an process known as jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gemstone and various ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the level of the gem has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or through collecting Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a gem can be improved by the Jeweler in stages that range from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

The Jeweler can craft the highest levels of gems with the exception of rare and legendary ones that you must attain a certain level to get. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in an equipment piece only once.

The use of more jewels in a move can make it feel more comfortable, and is often done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Jewels also enhance performance and create an outer layer that is more durable than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be traded, but they're not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like traits or aegis cannot be swapped, and can only be recovered through an upgrade extractor, or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that bestow a wide range of small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They are available in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but valuable boost in movement speed and evasion. The player can then collect rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar manner to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be placed in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that are active even when the character is not fighting. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also make up for the absence of excellent slots in the team or talent tree which are usually filled by the hero's best stats.

A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is true especially if you're looking to upgrade several stats on an item. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat rather than two suboptimal ones.

In the beginning of the game, players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players typically choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's map control abilities.

Apart from the items mentioned above, players can also discover a variety of other trinkets in the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For item upgrader , completing the main quest of a chapter or beating an opponent. These achievements can be seen by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
