, respectively. The mean BMI showed a drop from 42.0 to 31.7 (P < .001) 1 year post revisional surgery for the LRSG group and 42.7 to 34.5 (P < .001) for the rLRYGB group, correlating to an excess weight loss (EWL) of 61.7% and 48.1%, respectively. At 5 years post revisional surgery, LRSG patients showed an increase in BMI to 33.8 (EWL = 45.3%), while those who underwent rLRYGB showed a decrease to 34.3 (EWL = 49.2%). Completeness of follow-up at 1, 3, and 5 years for rLRYGB and LRSG were 67%, 35%, and 24% and 45%, 21%, and 18%, respectively.

Revisional bariatric surgery is a safe and effective method for the management of failed primary SG. LRSG patients tended to do better earlier on; however, it leveled off with those who underwent rLRYGB by 5 years.

The effect of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) on gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) remains discordant and highly related to the surgical technique. GERD and weight regain are probably understudied by prospective clinical studies depending on different technical factors.

The purpose of this article is to evaluate the effect of extent to which the antrum is resected on GERD following LSG but also on early complications and short-term weight loss results.

University Hospital, France.

Patients were randomly assigned in group A (172 patients), LSG with antral resection, or group B (174 patients), LSG with antral preservation. The baseline characteristics collected were demographic characteristics and anthropometric data (age, sex, body mass index), presence of GERD clinical characteristics, ± pH-metry, postoperative complications, or gastrin level.

A total of 279 patients underwent LSG and they were included in the final analysis. The GERD analyzed at 3 months postoperatively by pH-metry was osignificant difference was achieved for nausea and vomiting symptoms, which were more significant for the antrum resection group. Further clinical trials with newer procedures will indicate the factors that can diminish the reflux following LSG. Furthermore, the conservation of a large part of the antrum may be helpful to convert the sleeve to another bariatric procedure (transit bipartition).

The antrum preservation has no significant difference in terms of reflux, weight loss, or complications at 3 or 12 months following LSG. The only significant difference was achieved for nausea and vomiting symptoms, which were more significant for the antrum resection group. In Nepal, wild plant resources play an important role in local communities' health care. However, this role and its patterns are poorly studied in many regions of the country. This study aimed at documenting the indigenous knowledge on the use patterns of medicinal plants of three ethnic groups from Makawanpur district, Central Nepal.

Ethnobotanical information was collected through interviews with 165 respondents from the Bankaria, Newah and Tamang ethnic groups across five locations of different altitude levels. Botanical voucher samples were collected for scientific identification. Informant consensus factor (ICF) and relative frequency of citation (RFC) were calculated and relationships between knowledge on medicinal plants and location, ethnic group, gender and age of the respondents were analysed.

Altogether, 189 plant species were reported by the respondents. Medicinal plants were mostly collected from forest (130 spp.) and fallow land (49 spp.). Only few species such as Acorus calamus L., Cheiloroups and age classes. The most important medicinal plant species should be considered for pharmacological testing and for domestication.Two-dimensional materials as graphene oxide (GO) are able to accommodate labels as well as toxins for diagnostics and therapy, respectively. The transmembrane protein carbonic anhydrase (CA IX) is one of the molecules selectively expressed by tumor cells. Here, we demonstrate bioconjugation of GO to biotinylated M75 antibody highly selective towards CA IX. Based on a model system, binding between the bioconjugated GO-M75 and Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cells was evaluated. As proven by fluorescence-activated cell sorting, higher intake was observed for GO-M75 towards MDCK cells ectopically expressing CA IX protein on their surface when compared to control MDCK. In particular, we were able to localize GO nanocarrier crossing the membrane during endocytosis, thanks to the optical cross-sectioning of living cells in real-time employed the label-free confocal Raman microscopy. The increased affinity of the prepared GO-M75 molecular complexes validates the use of two-dimensional materials for future strategies of targeted cancer treatment. While nitric oxide (NO) can remedy vasoconstriction, inhalation of NO may cause systematic toxicity. We report a goldsome, which comprises a hollowed poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) polymersome with S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO, a NO donor) molecules and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) incorporated in its hydrophilic core and hydrophobic membrane, respectively. Photothermal heating caused breakdown of polymersomes and enabled NO generation through reaction between GSNO and Au NPs. Photo-illumination at the zebrafish head led to local NO generation and selective cerebral vasodilation while it had little effects in regions away from the illumination site, and effectively mitigated hypoxia induced cerebral vasoconstriction. We demonstrate a translational potential by showing photo-stimulated NO generation with a clinical intravascular optical catheter. In conclusion, the goldsome, which enables light stimulated local NO generation and can be delivered with clinical intravascular optical catheters, should extend applications of NO therapies while surmounting limitations associated with systemic administration.
