Shame and guilt are self-conscious emotions that, when generalized and excessive, may confer risk for suicidal ideation Generalized guilt may be uniquely linked with suicidal ideation, yet this association may also amplified by shame Both shame and guilt - and their interaction - are important to consider when working with patients exhibiting suicidal thoughts.

Greater use of appearance-focused social media, such as Instagram, is associated with increased body dissatisfaction and eating disorder (ED) symptoms; however, questions remain about the mechanism connecting social media use to disordered-eating behaviors (DEBs). The proposed study evaluates how and for whom exposure to fitspiration or thinspiration on Instagram is associated with DEBs.

We will evaluate a hypothesized pathway from Instagram use to disordered-eating mediated by negative affect. We will test how individual differences in internalized weight stigma, trait self-esteem, and trait self-comparison moderate the pathway from social media use to negative affect. We will recruit 175 undergraduate women who report engaging in DEBs on average at least once per week over the past 3 months. Participants will complete a 7-day ecological momentary assessment protocol, during which they will report their Instagram use, affect, and engagement in DEBs.

Multi-level modeling will be used to assess moderated mediation. Results from this study will provide increased specificity about how Instagram usage is linked to eating pathology and who may be most vulnerable to experiencing distress.

Information about negative affect from Instagram and engagement in DEBs could contribute to the development of Just-In-Time Interventions for problematic social media use.

The aims of this study were to determine the effects of the various steps of the canning process and of different filling media (olive oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, and high oleic sunflower oil) on the fat- and water-soluble vitamin contents of swordfish. An HPLC-based method was used for this purpose. The canning process led to loss of some vitamins, particularly of vitamin D3 . Loss of this vitamin mainly occurred during storage and although important (89.34% to 91.36%), canned swordfish can be considered a good source of vitamin D3 , providing between 50% and 64% of the RDI. The frying process also caused significant loss of vitamin B9 (73.7%). However, the vitamin E content increased due to contributions from the frying and filling oils. selleck products The canned swordfish packed in olive oil had lower vitamin A (107.35 µg/100 g) and E (1.58 mg/100 g) contents than the fish packed in sunflower oil (193.28 µg/100 g and 2.28 mg/100 g, respectively). The swordfish packed in sunflower oil also had the highest B2 (0.036 mg/100 g) content. The swordfish packed in corn oil had the lowest vitamin A (80.17 µg/100 g) and B2 (0.012 mg/100 g) contents, while the samples packed in high oleic sunflower oil had the lowest contents of vitamins B9 (0.14 µg/100 g) and B12 (2.37 mg/100 g). PRACTICAL APPLICATION Swordfish (Xiphias gladius) is consumed worldwide and is economically very important in the seafood industry. The canning process caused losses of some vitamins, particularly of vitamins D3 and B9 ; however, the vitamin E content increased due to the frying and filling oils. The study findings may contribute to increasing knowledge about how processing, storage and the filling medium influence the composition of canned fish.Infants who experience sensitive caregiving are at lower risk for numerous adverse outcomes. This is especially true for infants born preterm, leading them to be more susceptible to risks associated with poorer quality caregiving. Some research suggests that preterm and full-term infants differ on temperament, which may contribute to these findings. This study aimed to investigate associations between infant temperament (negative emotionality, positive affectivity/surgency, and orienting/regulatory capacity) and maternal sensitivity among infants born preterm (M = 30.2 weeks) and full term. It was hypothesized that mothers of infants born preterm and mothers of infants with more difficult temperaments would display lower sensitivity, indicated by lower responsiveness to nondistress, lower positive regard, and higher intrusiveness. Videotaped play interactions and a measure of temperament (Infant Behavior Questionnaire) were coded for 18 preterm and 44 full-term infants at 9 months (corrected) age. Results suggest that mothers of preterm and full-term infants differed significantly in responding to their infants, but these results cannot be explained by infant temperament. Preterm status and sociodemographic risk emerged as correlates of maternal behavior, such that mothers of infants born preterm and mothers with greater sociodemographic risk displayed lower levels of maternal sensitivity.

Clinical and pathologic staging determine treatment of pancreatic cancer. Clinical stage has been shown to underestimate final pathologic stage in pancreatic cancer, resulting in upstaging.

National Cancer Database was used to identify clinical stage I pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Univariate, multivariable logistic regression, and Cox proportional hazard ratio were used to determine differences between upstaged and stage concordant patients.

Upstaging was seen in 80.2% of patients. Factors found to be significantly associated with upstaging included pancreatic head tumors (OR2.56), high-grade histology (OR1.74), elevated Ca 19-9 (OR2.09), and clinical stage T2 (OR1.99). Upstaging was associated with a 45% increased risk of mortality compared to stage concordant disease (HR1.44, p < .001).

A majority of clinical stage I pancreatic cancer is upstaged after resection. Factors including tumor location, grade, Ca 19-9, and tumor size can help identify those at high risk for upstaging.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a condition marked by recurrent and distressing thoughts, images, and urges accompanied by repetitive physical or mental rituals. An emerging line of work suggests that emotion may be an important consideration when looking at the role of impulsivity across the spectrum of psychopathology, including OCD. The current study examined the relationship between obsessive-compulsive symptomatology (OCS) and impulsive cognitive and behavioural reactions to emotion using a multi-study, multi-method approach.

Data were collected cross-sectionally online (Study 1) or via an in-person laboratory visit (Study 2).

In Study 1, self-report measures of impulsivity and OCS were administered to a large, non-selected community sample (N=386). Study 2 extended these findings with a young adult sample (N=107) with clinically elevated OCS using self-report measures, clinical interview, and two behavioural symptom provocation tasks.

Emotion-related impulsivity, but not non-emotion-relat with OCS. Given the present study's cross-sectional nature, we cannot draw conclusions about the directionality of the ERI - OCS relationship, and while our study included individuals with clinically elevated OCS, results should be replicated in a fully clinical sample.BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of robot-assisted laparoscopic tumor enucleation (RAE) for the treatment of renal hilar tumors and to describe our experience with renorrhaphy-related surgical techniques.

Retrospective data were collected from 173 consecutive patients who underwent RAE for localized renal tumors (cT1-cT2N0M0) at our hospital between September 2014 and November 2019.

Seventy-five patients had renal hilar tumors and 98 patients had nonhilar tumors. There were no statistical differences between the hilar and nonhilar groups in operation time (190 [115-390] vs. 190 [110-390] min, p = 0.889), warm ischemia time (26 [12-60] vs. 27 [17-41] min, p = 0.257), hospital stay duration (8 [3-16] vs. 7.5 [4-18] days, p = 0.386), renal function (estimated glomerular filtration rate, 102.5 [29.4-144] vs. 101.3 [64.2-134.7] ml/min/1.73 m

, p = 0.631); creatinine level, (76 [43-169] vs.78.5 [50-281.3] µmol/L, p = 0.673), perioperative complications rate, or surgical margin status. However, patients with hilar tumors lost significantly more blood than did those with nonhilar tumors (250 [50-1500] vs. 200 [20-1200] ml, p = 0.007). During the follow-up period (median, 30 months), three patients in each group experienced recurrence. The 5-year recurrence-free rates were 93.0% and 95.4% in the hilar and nonhilar tumor groups, respectively (p = 0.640).

For experienced robot laparoscopists, RAE is a safe, effective, and feasible procedure for renal hilar tumors, without increased risk of positive surgical margins or worse midterm oncologic outcomes compared with nonhilar tumors.

Cancer-associated VTE has an increased risk of recurrence and often cancer confers an increased risk of bleeding, which complicates treatment with anticoagulation. Traditionally, patients with cancer-associated VTE was treated with low molecular weight heparin (LMH). In total, 4 randomized controlled trials have compared non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulantia (NOAC) with LMH. The NOACs studied are the factor Xa inhibitors apixaban, edoxaban, and rivaroxaban. A metaanalysis of these 4 trials have shown at least similar efficacy for prevention of new VTE and a similar risk of bleeding.Retroviral RNA genome (gRNA) harbors cis-acting sequences that facilitate its specific packaging from a pool of other viral and cellular RNAs by binding with high-affinity to the viral Gag protein during virus assembly. However, the molecular intricacies involved during selective gRNA packaging are poorly understood. Binding and footprinting assays on mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) gRNA with purified Pr77Gag along with in cell gRNA packaging study identified two Pr77Gag binding sites constituting critical, non-redundant packaging signals. These included a purine loop in a bifurcated stem-loop containing the gRNA dimerization initiation site, and the primer binding site (PBS). Despite these sites being present on both unspliced and spliced RNAs, Pr77Gag specifically bound to unspliced RNA, since only that could adopt the native bifurcated stem-loop structure containing looped purines. These results map minimum structural elements required to initiate MMTV gRNA packaging, distinguishing features that are conserved amongst divergent retroviruses from those perhaps unique to MMTV.
