Local magnetic and susceptibility mappings show magnetic response in all nanowires, while a subset bearing a DC signal points to ferromagnetic order. Crowdsourcing is a useful way to rapidly collect information on COVID-19 symptoms. However, there are potential biases and data quality issues given the population that chooses to participate in crowdsourcing activities and the common strategies used to screen participants based on their previous experience.

In this study, we reviewed novel studies on the insulin signalling pathway based on the D. melanogaster model. The findings support our hypothesis. Here, we probe the surface charges of three unicellular algae─Chlorella vulgaris, Nannochloropsis oculata, and Tetraselmis suecica─through their electrophoretic mobility. Ohshima's soft particle theory describes the electrokinetic properties of particles covered by a permeable polyelectrolyte layer, a usual case for biological particles. The results appear to fit the predictions of Ohshima's theory, proving that all three microalgae behave electrokinetically as soft particles. This allowed us to estimate two characteristic parameters of the polyelectrolyte external layer of microalgae the volume charge density and the hydrodynamic penetration length. Results were compared with transmission electron microscopy observations of the algal cells' surfaces, and in particular of their extracellular polymeric layer, which was identified with the permeable shell evidenced by electrophoretic measurements. Noticeably, the algal surface potentials estimated from electrophoretic mobility using the soft particle theory are less negative than the apparent zeta potentials. This finding indicates that electrostatics are expected to play a minor role in phenomena of environmental and industrial importance, such as microalgae aggregation or adhesion.

Although atrial fibrillation (AF) frequently coexists with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), few data are available evaluating AF-specific care patterns and post-discharge outcomes in patients hospitalized for HFpEF. We evaluated AF-specific medical therapies and post-discharge outcomes among patients hospitalized for heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF) or HFpEF by AF history.

Trends in AF prevalence were evaluated among patients hospitalized for HFmrEF or HFpEF in the Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Registry from 2014 to 2020. A retrospective cohort study was conducted with 29,926 former undergraduate nursing students enrolled from 2015 to 2019. The study sample included 2,073 students formerly enrolled in an online baccalaureate nursing (BSN) program and 27,853 students formerly enrolled in an online RN-to-BSN program.

RN-to-BSN students were more than twice as likely to drop a course than BSN students. For students in both programs, higher numbers of courses that were dropped before the course start date were associated with an increased likelihood of graduation.

Understanding the extent to which course drops occur and their link to persistence in undergraduate nursing programs can assist academic program leaders in developing strategies to help students be successful.

To increase the number of baccalaureate-prepared nurses, efforts have focused on degree completion for RNs. Less attention has been given to foster baccalaureate nursing (BSN) degree pathways for licensed practical nurses (LPNs). To facilitate the development of an LPN-to-BSN degree pathway, faculty at one BSN program used curriculum mapping as a form of inquiry.

A six-step curriculum mapping process was used to examine content congruency and alignment between North Carolina LPN concept-based curriculum and foundational courses in the BSN program.

Analysis of the data revealed an alignment between LPN courses and three foundational BSN courses.

Findings were used to inform faculty members of the decision-making process for a revised LPN-to-BSN pathway. Curriculum mapping can be used as a tool to facilitate the development of the LPN-to-BSN pathway. LPN-centered curriculum options may be key to increasing the number of BSN nurses.
