Malaysian institutions have made profound contributions to COVID-19 research globally and in SEA. However, there is a need for continuous efforts to improve research outputs on the topic. In the Netherlands, one of the main goals of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management is to increase accessibility and, at the same time, to reduce the negative externalities created by transport, such as congestion and greenhouse gas emissions. Within the Ministry, there was a clear need for a national and integrated monitoring instrument to measure the impact of policy measures on travel behaviour. To satisfy this need, we carried out a national traveller survey in 2019, 2020 and 2021. This paper describes some of the results of these surveys. Annual analyses include the trends in car ownership and mode choice for different purposes, with particular attention to commuting behaviour. It appears that travel time, convenience and flexibility play an important role in mode choice. Travel costs are less important and COVID-19 did not play a decisive role. It appears that free parking or availability of parking space has the most considerable impact on car use for commuting. In October 2019, employees travelled on average 3.8 days per week to work. In October 2020, mainly because of COVID-19, this number decreased to 2.9 travelling days and in October 2021, the number of travelled increased to 3.1. We examined the relationship between changes in car use for commuting between 2019, 2020 and 2021, and external developments in living and working, changes in the level of service of different transport modes and policy measures, both by the government and by employers. In addition, we investigated the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on car use for commuting and this appeared to be an important factor, although external factors also play an important role. Finally, we estimated the effect of these changes in car use for commuting on congestion and CO2 emissions.Ninety 24-h samples of the dry deposition fraction of settleable particulate matter (DSPM) were collected at one suburban industrial site ('EMA') and two urban industrial sites ('Lauredal' and 'Laboratory') in the western area of Gijón (North of Spain) from December 2019 to June 2020. The levels registered point to an environmental issue that should receive close attention from environmental authorities. Before lockdown restrictions due to COVID-19 were established, all samples collected at the EMA site exceeded 300 mg·m-2·d-1 (the Spanish limit value until 2002). Large amounts of DSPM were also registered at the Lauredal and Laboratory sites, maximum levels reaching 1039.2 and 672.7 mg·m-2·d-1, respectively. Seven metals were analysed in DSPM samples Al, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn and Na. Fe reached the highest values 2473.4, 463.4 and 293.3 mg·m-2·d-1 (EMA, Lauredal and Laboratory sites, respectively). This study quantifies the reductions in the DSPM levels registered (on average, 97.2, 73.5 and 90.5% at the EMA, Lauredal and Laboratory sites, respectively) during the lockdown, which involved the restriction of population mobility and industrial activity. The influence of wind speed and its direction were also assessed to better understand the role of these restrictions in the observed reductions. Selleckchem Valemetostat The concentrations of all the metals in the DSPM were reduced by more than 75%, on average, except for K at the Laboratory and Lauredal sites. These decreases were much higher than those found by other authors for smaller fractions of the atmospheric particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5). The findings of the present study highlight the importance of DSPM in highly industrialized urban/suburban locations and indicate the direction that legal measures might take, given the influence of anthropogenic emissions.Early childhood care and education providers provide instruction to diverse learners, including children with developmental delays, but often lack training in the use of evidence-based instructional strategies to support children's meaningful learning engagement. This preliminary study examined effects of the Early Achievements for Child Care Providers professional development program with and without generalization training on center-based child care providers (N = 12). Outcomes assessed included providers' implementation fidelity, knowledge, and self-efficacy as well as children's (N = 43) social-communication skills and engagement in shared book reading. Results demonstrated that providers trained in a generalization context made larger gains in implementation fidelity in a generalization context; no other significant between-group differences were found for providers. Children in both groups made comparable, significant gains. Findings suggest that explicit generalization training is needed for providers to achieve fidelity when transferring newly learned evidence-based practices to additional classroom instructional contexts, but a brief interval of implementation likely is insufficient to differentially benefit child outcomes. Researchers should elicit providers' perceptions when designing professional development programs to maximize feasibility of investing additional time and resources for generalization training.Paternal involvement in household and childcare has increased over the past century, but global studies show that most mothers still remain responsible for a significantly higher proportion of total household care and childcare. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has further negatively impacted mothers, who take on the majority of childcare responsibilities. However, scholars agree that a father's devotion to playing with the child fosters the child's cognitive, linguistic, and socio-emotional development. Acknowledging and approaching art as a dynamic and integrated play, this qualitative case study investigates five South Korean father-child dyads and their interactions while playing with art materials. The participants engaged in three thematic art sessions designed by the author. Data collection involved audio and video recordings of each session, surveys of adult participants, and photos of finished artworks. The study found that fathers' varied educational backgrounds and perceptions of their abilities to facilitate arts learning influenced their confidence in teaching the arts at home. Furthermore, having a theme and prompting questions assisted the fathers to facilitate more focused art play. The art play also provided the father-child dyads with arts learning opportunities, including learning and distinguishing colors and recognizing stereotypes associated with colors. Moreover, one-on-one interaction between the dyads helped them build a more intimate bond. This study presents specific examples of art activities and participants' responses, which might offer insights and educational implications for paternal involvement in child play and thematic art play at home. This article considers the dynamics of the development of a potential approach to correcting stress-induced states in humans, i.e., adaptive neurostimulation. The approach consists of presenting sensory stimulation automatically modulated by intrinsic rhythmic human processes such as the respiratory rhythm, the heartbeat rhythm, and electroencephalograph (EEG) rhythms. Many examples have shown that real-time self-adjustment of the stimulation parameters by these rhythms leads to a high level personalization of therapeutic stimulation and increases in its efficacy in suppressing stress-induced states. The publications reviewed here point to the advantages of this approach for developing innovatory technologies using complex feedback from endogenous human rhythms to correct a wide spectrum of functional disorders. To examine COVID-19 mortality demographics to determine if there will be any substantive shifts in population forecasts that will impact health and long-term care planning for seniors in both countries. Demographic data from Statistics Canada and the U.S. Census Bureau to 2060 are adjusted for COVID-19 age-group-specific mortality and then projected forward in five-year increments. These projections are then annualized using a linear imputation between each projected value. Consideration is given to the seniors 65 + , 75 + and 85 + as well as dependency ratios of each age category. Forecasts suggest that the proportion of seniors in the population will roughly plateau in 2035 at approximately 21% (U.S.) and 24% (Canada)-with another uptick observed beginning in 2050 for those aged 75 + . Adjustments due to the pandemic have had little impact on these projections suggesting that-unless there is a major shift in the demographics of pandemic-related mortality-the resource planning implications will be largely inconsequential. Investments in resources to serve seniors need not be done with the intention to repurpose these assets before they are fully depleted. While the demonstrated demographic plateau is likely to hold steady, there is uncertainty around the expected rate of decline in the health of seniors. Depending on this trajectory, community-level social supports could play a large role in lengthening the duration of senior health and independence. The growing demand for electricity has increased the interest of the researchers towards exploration of energy storing devices (ESDs). With the motif for developing electrochemical energy storage devices, this research work is focussed on the study of MoO3 nanoparticles and its doping with chromium as an efficient electrode material for energy storage applications. The nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method and were examined by powder X-ray diffraction, which determined the thermodynamically stable orthorhombic phase of MoO3, and their morphologies were examined using scanning electron microscopy displaying flake-like structures. The typical vibrational bands of Mo-O were identified from Infra-red and Raman spectral analysis. The ultra violet diffuse reflectance spectra revealed the decrease in optical band gap after doping with chromium. The temperature dependent AC and DC conductivities were enhanced on doping. Electrochemical behaviour of the nanoparticles was probed by cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) analysis for which specific capacitance (C sp) value of 334 Fg-1 was achieved for Cr-doped MoO3 nanoparticles. The electrochemical performance of the sample was found to be increased after doping with Cr.
