The increasing demand for using competent and inexpensive methods based on biomaterials, like adsorption and biosorption, has given rise to the low-priced alternative biosorbents. In the past few years, Moringa oleifera (MO) has emerged as a green and low-priced biosorbent for the treatment of contaminated waters with heavy metals and dyes, and given its availability, we can create another generation of effective biosorbents based on different parts of this plant. In this review paper, we have briefed on the application of MO as a miraculous biosorbent for water purification. Moreover, the primary and cutting-edge methods for the purification and modification of MO to improve its adsorption are discussed. It was found that MO has abundant availability in the regions where it is grown, and simple chemical treatments increase the effectiveness of this plant in the treatment of some toxic contaminants. The different parts of this miraculous plant's "seeds, leaves, or even husks" in their natural form also possess appreciable sorption capacities, high efficiency for treating low metal concentrations, and rapid adsorption kinetics. Thus, the advantages and disadvantages of different parts of MO as biosorbent, the conditions favorable to this biosorption, also, the proposal of a logical mechanism, which can justify the high efficiency of this plant, are discussed in this review. Finally, several conclusions have been drawn from some important works and which are examined in this review, and future suggestions are proposed. While research on the creation of green start-ups recognizes the influence of technology spillovers, less attention has been given to the relative importance of heterogeneous technology spillover sources and how they contribute to green start-up emergence. This study aims to fill this lacuna in the existing literature by investigating the relationship between green start-up entry and environmental technology in universities, research institutes, and firms. We primarily focus on the moderating effects of patent commercialization policy and patent enforcement in the relationship. The results show that environmental technology in universities, research institutes, and firms has a positive influence on both of green and non-green start-up emergences. Among them, firms play the most important role, followed by research institutes and universities. Besides, patent commercialization policy plays a negative role in shaping the relationship between green start-ups and environmental technology of universities and firms and the relationship between non-green start-ups and university environmental technology. However, the role of patent commercialization policy does not hold in other cases. Moreover, patent enforcement is negatively related to the relationship between both of green and non-green start-ups and environmental technology of universities and firms, except for research institutes. It indicates that regions should emphasize the dominant position of firms in environmental technology innovation and formulate specific innovation measures for different organizations to better foster local green entrepreneurship. The use of physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling to support the drug product quality attributes, also known as physiologically based biopharmaceutics modeling (PBBM) is an evolving field and the interest in using PBBM is increasing. The US-FDA has emphasized on the use of patient centric quality standards and clinically relevant drug product specifications over the years. Establishing an in vitro in vivo link is an important step towards achieving the goal of patient centric quality standard. Such a link can aid in constructing a bioequivalence safe space and establishing clinically relevant drug product specifications. PBBM is an important tool to construct a safe space which can be used during the drug product development and lifecycle management. There are several advantages of using the PBBM approach, though there are also a few challenges, both with in vitro methods and in vivo understanding of drug absorption and disposition, that preclude using this approach and therefore further improvements are needed. In this review we have provided an overview of experience gained so far and the current perspective from regulatory and industry point of view. Collaboration between scientists from regulatory, industry and academic fields can further help to advance this field and deliver on promises that PBBM can offer towards establishing patient centric quality standards.Maximizing tendency is a central decision-making concept that has increasingly drawn attention from the scientific community. It refers to individuals' predisposition to look for the best option instead of settling for something that merely passes an internal threshold of acceptability. Although this maximizing strategy intuitively increases individual benefits, it also has been linked to various negative outcomes, including decreased well-being and low life satisfaction, and it varies considerably across populations. However, the neuroanatomical characteristics underlying this heterogeneity remain poorly understood. To address this knowledge gap, a 13-item Maximization Scale and magnetic resonance imaging technique were respectively used in this study to estimate individual maximizing tendency and structural morphological information on a sample of healthy adults (n = 69). Furthermore, voxel-based morphometry (VBM) analysis was conducted to investigate the associations between gray matter volume (GMV) and maximizing tendency through univariate and multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA). Univariate analysis did not determine an association between maximizing tendency and whole-brain GMV; by contrast, MVPA revealed that maximizing tendency could be successfully predicted by the GMVs of the right inferior frontal gyrus (IFG), right insula, and right cerebellum. These findings suggest the critical role of the morphological characteristics of the cortical-subcortical circuitry in individuals' maximizing tendency.Mindfulness training has been associated with improved attention and affect regulation in preadolescent children with anxiety related attention impairments, however little is known about the underlying neurobiology. This study sought to investigate the impact of mindfulness training on functional connectivity of attention and limbic brain networks in pre-adolescents. A total of 47 children with anxiety and/or attention issues (aged 9-11 years) participated in a 10-week mindfulness intervention. Anxiety and attention measures and resting-state fMRI were completed at pre- and post-intervention. Sustained attention was measured using the Conners Continuous Performance Test, while the anxiety levels were measured using the Spence Children's Anxiety Scale. Functional networks were estimated using independent-component analysis, and voxel-based analysis was used to determine the difference between the time-points to identify the effect of the intervention on the functional connectivity. There was a significant decrease in anxiety symptoms and improvement in attention scores following the intervention. From a network perspective, the results showed increased functional connectivity post intervention in the salience and fronto-parietal networks as well as the medial-inferior temporal component of the default mode network. Positive correlations were identified in the fronto-parietal network with Hit Response Time and the Spence Children's Anxiety Scale total and between the default mode network and Hit Response Time. A 10-week mindfulness intervention in children was associated with a reduction in anxiety related attention impairments, which corresponded with concomitant changes in functional connectivity.Haemophilus influenzae is a human-specific pathogen responsible for respiratory tract infections, meningitis, and sepsis. The study aimed to characterize antibiotic resistance in H. influenzae strains isolated from patients with lower respiratory tract infections over 15 years in Poland. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of clinically relevant antibiotics were determined by broth microdilution method. Screening for beta-lactam resistance was performed in all isolates following EUCAST recommendation. Finally, relevant changes in penicillin-binding protein 3 (PBP3) were detected by PCR screening. Of the 1481 isolates collected between 2005 and 2019, 12.6%, 0.2%, 17.1%, and 0.2% were resistant to ampicillin, amoxicillin/clavulanate, cefuroxime, and ceftriaxone, respectively. see more Among them, 74.4% (1102/1481) of isolates were categorized as BLNAS (β-lactamase negative, ampicillin-susceptible), 13.0% (192/1481) as BLNAS with modified PBP3 (mutations in ftsI gene), 2.6% (39/1481) as BLNAR (β-lactamase negative, ampicillin-resistant), and 0.2% had PBP3 modifications typical for high-BLNAR. Production of β-lactamase characterized 9.7% of isolates (8.6% BLPAR-β-lactamase-positive, ampicillin-resistant, and 1.1% BLPACR-β-lactamase-positive, amoxicillin-clavulanate resistant). Three isolates with PBP3 modifications typical for high-BLNAR proved resistant to ceftriaxone (MIC > 0.125 mg/L). Resistance to ciprofloxacin, chloramphenicol, tetracycline, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole was observed in 0.1%, 0.5%, 1.6%, and 24.7% of isolates, respectively. This is the first report of Polish H. influenzae isolates resistant to third-generation cephalosporins. Polish H. influenzae isolates demonstrate similar susceptibility trends as in many other countries. The substantial proportion of β-lactam-resistant isolates and the emergence of those resistant to third-generation cephalosporins are of great concern and should be under surveillance. This study investigated the application of bio-ionic liquids (ILs) prepared from choline as cation and amino acid as anion for solubility enhancement of poorly water-soluble drug, Zafirlukast (ZFL). Herein, the solubility of ZFL in water and mixtures of water and ILs was assessed using UV spectroscopy at two temperature points 25°C and 37°C with increasing concentrations of IL. ZFL solubility was found to improve linearly with increasing concentration of [Ch][Pro] in water, representing 35- to 37-fold improvement in ZFL solubility at maximum concentration of [Ch][Pro] (1% w/v) compared to when only pure water was present. Also, the effect of IL on ZFL solubility was analyzed using NMR, DSC, and TGA. These results clearly suggest that ZFL solubility was increased by forming hydrogen bonds with selected [Ch][Pro] IL. Toxicity study of ILs was tested against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Since IL solvent was found to increase the solubility of ZFL, this may serve as "functional excipient solvent" for solubility enhancement in its commercialized formulations.

We present our experience of titanium-milled two-piece patient-specific implants (PSIs) for primary reconstructions of extensive orbital floor and medial wall fractures (EOFMFs) and evaluate their postoperative functional and aesthetic outcomes in relation to commercially available implants.

We included all patients with primary reconstructions (< 22days from injury) of EOFMFs treated in our department between January 2011 and October 2020. Extensive orbital floor and medial wall fracture was defined as involvement of orbital floor, medial wall and maxilloethmoidal junction; a fracture defect 5mm or more; defect size more than a third of both inferior and medial walls; and Jaquiéry classification III or more. Patient characteristics, details of fracture defects and surgeries, postoperative outcomes and implant positions were retrospectively evaluated and compared between study groups.

Nineteen patients were included 5 with two-piece PSIs and 14 with commercial implants. Implant position was good in 4/5 patients with two-piece PSIs and 2/14 with commercial implants.
