To evaluate the performance of dual-source computed tomography (DSCT) in the component analysis of all types of calculi by doing a systematic review and meta-analysis.

We searched MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, and CNKI up to February 28, 2020, for in vivo studies investigating the performance of DSCT in the component analysis of calculi. We pooled the sensitivity, specificity, and areas under the summary receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curves using a random-effect model in the meta-analysis. Publication bias was evaluated using Deek's funnel plot asymmetry test.

This analysis included a total of 37 studies in 1840 patients with 2151 calculi (462 uric acid [UA], 1383 calcium oxalate [CaOx], 55 cystine [Cys], 197 hydroxyapatite [HA], and 54 struvite [SV]). Using DSCT, the pooled accuracy for diagnosing UA (sensitivity, 0.95; specificity, 0.99), CaOx (0.98; 0.93), Cys (0.99; 0.99), HA (0.91; 0.99), and SV (0.42; 0.98) was calculated, respectively. The AUROC value was 0.99, 0.99, 1.00, 0.99, and 0.93, respectively. The

values for publication bias test were .49, .70, .07, .04, and .19, respectively.

This tool may have the potential to replace the current analysis tool in vitro in diagnosing calculi.Objective This study aimed to examine the experiences of patients and their partners about their sexual lives after Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Design This qualitative study was based on Heidegger's hermeneutic phenomenological approach. Setting The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic of a city hospital in the Central Anatolia Region in Turkey. Participants The study consisted of seven female and six male patients with spinal cord injury and their partners. Outcome measures The textual analysis was carried out in three stages (1) a naive reading, (2) a structural analysis, and (3) a comprehensive understanding of the text including a discussion. The sample size was calculated by using the criterion sampling technique. Results As a result of the in-depth interviews with individuals with SCI about their sexual experiences, five themes were derived (1) first confrontation with SCI, (2) experienced sexual problems, (3) coping, (4) partners' views on sexual problems, and (5) other people. Conclusion It was found that the sex life of individuals with SCI was negatively affected, they were left helpless in dealing with their problems, and that some patients had difficulties in coping with this condition.

The BRG1/BRM associated factors (BAF) complex is a chromatin remodeling SWI/SNF which is mutated in 20% of cancers. This complex has many interchangeable subunits which may have oncogenic or tumor suppressor activity in a context-dependent manner. The BAF complex is mutated in 35-50% of metastatic prostate cancer (PC); however, its role in advanced disease is unclear. This review attempts to consolidate current knowledge of the BAF complex in PC and explore potential therapeutic approaches.

This review covers the known roles of some BAF subunits, their alterations, and the models which best explain their mechanisms in driving PC. Following this, the authors provide their expert perspective on how this complex could be targeted in the future with a personalized medicine approach.

In the physical activity context, the study explored (a) how two cognitive constructs - health consciousness and self-efficacy - influence the attitude-intention-behavior relationship, and (b) how the relationship differs depending on habituation to physical activity. A survey of 525 undergraduate students was conducted at a South Korean university. The results of structural equation modeling showed that the attitude-intention-behavior relationship was only significant in the non-habituation group. In the linkage, health consciousness significantly influenced attitude toward physical activity, while self-efficacy had stronger impacts on behavioral intention and behavior than on attitude. Based on the findings, some theoretical implications and practical guidelines are discussed.

To explore current recommendations for intravenous (IV) iron use in clinical guidelines for iron deficiency anemia (IDA) across different therapeutic areas and identify recommendations, if any, for the treatment of IDA.

A literature search was conducted in Medline, EMBASE, BIOSIS, Cochrane Collaboration, and on websites of relevant professional associations. Searches were limited to English publications. 1292 citations were identified, 219 papers were assessed, and 35 guidelines were identified for inclusion.

The guidelines covered a variety of geographies United States (US;

 = 10); Europe (

 = 11); "Rest-of-World" (

 = 9); and "Other" organizations (

 = 5). These covered a variety of specialties. Guidelines defined iron deficiency and IDA generally by serum ferritin and transferrin saturation levels. One-fifth of the reviewed guidelines (7 of 35) included no mention or recommendation regarding parenteral iron's utility in the management of IDA. Fifteen guidelines recommended using parenteral iron in the management of IDA. Fewer US guidelines included recommendations around IV iron than in Europe or the rest of the world. Approximately 60% of the guidelines have not been updated in ≥5 years and consequently do not reflect current evidence on the safety and efficacy of IV iron.

While national and international guidelines for management of IDA exist, many are outdated and do not reflect current evidence including, but not limited to, parenteral iron use. Urgent consideration should be given to updating and clarifying management guidelines for IDA using the latest treatment modalities and options, particularly in the US.

Disturbed release of glutamate or GABA specifically from POMC neurons in adult mice was achieved using a tamoxifen-inducible Cre construct (Pomc-CreERT2) expressed in mice also carrying floxed versions of Slc17a6 (vGlut2) or Gad1 and Gad2, encoding the vesicular glutamate transporter type 2 and GAD67 and GAD65 proteins, respectively. All mice in the experiments received tamoxifen injections, but control mice lacked the tamoxifen-inducible Cre sequence. Body weight was unchanged in Gad1- and Gad2- or vGlut2-deleted female and male mice. Additionally, no significant differences in glucose tolerance or refeeding after an overnight fast were observed. These data collectively suggest that the release of GABA or glutamate from POMC neurons in adult mice does not significantly contribute to the metabolic parameters tested here. In light of prior work, the data also suggest that amino acid transmitter release from POMC cells may contribute to separate functions in the adult versus the developing mouse.Patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) experience symptoms of exertional dyspnea that may be related to lung fluid accumulation during exercise. A computed tomography (CT)-based method was used to measure exercise-induced changes in extravascular lung fluid content and thoracic blood volumes and to determine the effect of lung fluid on lung diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (DLCO) in stable subjects with HFpEF and healthy controls. Nine subjects with HFpEF (age = 68 ± 8 yr; body mass index = 32.1 ± 2.6 kg/m2) and eight healthy controls (62 ± 9 yr, 23.8 ± 2.4 kg/m2) performed triplicate rebreathe DLCO/DLNO (lung diffusing capacity for nitric oxide) tests in a supine position at rest and duplicate measurements during two 5-min submaximal exercise stages (15W and 35W) and recovery. Subjects subsequently performed a 5-min exercise bout (35W) inside a CT scanner, and extravascular lung fluid content and thoracic blood volumes were quantified at rest and immediately following exercise from thoracic and contrast perfusion scans, respectively. Subjects with HFpEF had a higher lung fluid content at rest compared with controls (means ± SD, HFpEF 14.4 ± 1.7%, control 12.8 ± 1.7%, P = 0.043) and a higher lung fluid content following exercise (15.2 ± 2.0% vs. 12.6 ± 1.5%, P = 0.009). Higher lung fluid content was associated with a lower DLCO and alveolar-capillary membrane conductance (Dm) in subjects with HFpEF (DLCO R = -0.57, P = 0.022, Dm R = -0.61, P = 0.012) but not in controls. Pulmonary blood volume was not altered by exercise and was similar between groups. Submaximal exercise elicited a greater accumulation of lung fluid in subjects with HFpEF compared with in controls, and lung fluid content was negatively correlated with lung diffusing capacity and alveolar-capillary membrane conductance in subjects with HFpEF.
