The current differentiation process of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) into cardiomyocytes to enhance the purity of hPSC-derived cardiomyocytes requires some purification processes, which are laborious processes. We developed cell sorting plates, which are prepared from coating thermoresponsive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) and extracellular matrix proteins. After hPSCs were induced into cardiomyocytes on the thermoresponsive surface coated with laminin-521 for 15 days, the temperature of the cell culture plates was decreased to 8-9 °C to detach the cells partially from the thermoresponsive surface. The detached cells exhibited a higher cardiomyocyte marker of cTnT than the remaining cells on the thermoresponsive surface as well as the cardiomyocytes after purification using conventional cell selection. The detached cells expressed several cardiomyocyte markers, such as α-actinin, MLC2a and NKX2.5. This study suggested that the purification of hPSC-derived cardiomyocytes using cell sorting plates with the thermoresponsive surface is a promising method for the purification of hPSC-derived cardiomyocytes without conventional laborious processes.Background The concept of prefrailty lacks clarity. Often, prefrailty is defined in relation to frailty and less often as a distinct concept. Theoretical evidence for prefrailty is minimal unlike frailty, which has been examined for decades although consensus about how to measure frailty has not been achieved. Objective The aim of this study was to conduct a concept analysis of prefrailty to provide greater understanding of this phenomenon in the context of older adults. Design Rodgers and Knafl's evolutionary concept analysis approach. Data sources The literature search for the concept analysis was conducted as follows three databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL, and Abstracts in Social Gerontology databases) were searched using carefully selected search terms; and grey literature was not included. Review methods In phase one, we used the search strategy and search terms to narrow the search for relevant articles. We selected articles that met the following inclusion criteria (1) how prefrailty was conceptualized; (2) of frailty. Surrogate and related terms (noted in the literature) that had shared attributes with prefrailty were increased vulnerability, transitional stage, dynamic process, progressive process with latent phase, and physical frailty. Conclusions As a result of conducting this concept analysis, we found that prefrailty was defined as a clinically silent process that predisposes individuals to frailty. Prefrailty, as a concept, was derived from the Fried's operational definition for frailty. Attributes, antecedents, consequences, and related terms will help clinicians consider how prefrailty presents in older adults separate from frailty. Further research is needed to build upon our understanding from this concept analysis. Although living in the moment is important for care at the end of life, from the perspective of both the person and their family, there is no clear conceptual understanding of what it represents. Objective To explore the concept of 'living in the moment' in the context of dignity-conserving care at the end of life. Design A concept analysis. Data sources The databases of Medline, CinAHL, PubMed, Web of Science, PsycINFO, SocINDEX and Cochrane were searched for studies published between 1941 and 2019, and searches of dictionaries and grey literature, as well as hand-searching were conducted, to yield qualitative, mixed methods and systematic reviews published in English, related to the term 'living in the moment'. Method The methods of Walker and Avant were used to identify antecedents, attributes and consequences of the concept of 'living in the moment'. Results The literature review generated a total of 37 papers for this concept analysis. The attributes identified were (1) simple pleasure, (2) prioritising relationships, (3) living each day to the fullest, (4) maintaining normality, and (5) not worrying about the future. The antecedents were (1) awareness of dying, (2) living with life-threatening illness, (3) positive individual growth, and (4) living with an uncertain future. The consequences were (1) a good quality of life, (2) preserving dignity, and (3) coping with the uncertainty of life. MI-773 antagonist Conclusions A universal definition and conceptual model of the main concept, including theoretical relationships between its antecedents, attributes and consequences, was developed. The definition and proposed conceptual model can allow instruments to be developed that measure the effects, existence or attributes of the concept, and identify a theoretical model, and can also lead to new perspectives and strategies for implementation by nurses to improve dignified person-centred care at the end of life.Climatic changes, such as global warming and altered precipitation are of major environmental concern. Given that ecosystem processes are strongly regulated by temperature and water content, climate changes are expected to affect the carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) cycles, especially in agricultural systems. However, the interactive effects of soil warming and increased precipitation on greenhouse gas emissions are poorly understood, particularly in the North China Plain (NCP). Therefore, a field experiment was conducted over two spring maize seasons (May-Sept.) in 2018 and 2019. Two levels of temperature (T0 ambient temperature; T1 increase on average of 4.0 °C) combined with two levels of precipitation (W0 no artificial precipitation; W1 +30% above ambient precipitation) were carried out in the NCP. Our results showed that soil warming significantly promoted cumulative N2O and CO2 emissions by 49% and 39%, respectively. Additionally, increased precipitation further enhanced the N2O and CO2 emissions by 54% and 14%, respectively.
