To explore the clinical value of ultrasound-guided minimally invasive biopsy of breast nodules for diagnosis and treatment of patients with no positive clinical signs on manual breast examination.

We performed a retrospective review of 136 patients with no signs on breast palpation who underwent ultrasound-guided minimally invasive biopsy. A total of 63 patients underwent breast nodule resection from October 2018 to December 2019 at the General Hospital of Central Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army. Clinical data, including indications for minimally invasive biopsy or resection, pathological and surgical results were retrospectively analyzed.

A total of 199 patients were studied; 136 underwent minimally invasive biopsy and 63 underwent resection. No severe surgical complications occurred. Minimally invasive biopsy of breast nodules was superior to resection with respect to operation time, incision length, and postoperative complication rate.

Podoplanin (PDPN) is a type-1 membrane sialoglycoprotein that is expressed in many cancer tumors including breast cancer; nonetheless, its roles in tumor occurrence, development, and metastasis are unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical significance of plasma soluble PDPN (sPDPN) levels in patients with breast cancer and its significance in the diagnosis and metastasis.

Blood samples from healthy controls (CTL), patients with fibroadenomas of breast (FOB), and breast cancer (pathological type invasive ductal carcinoma, IDC) were collected. sPDPN levels in the plasma of CTL and patients with FOB and IDC were measured by the ELISA.

The plasma sPDPN levels in IDC patients (159 cases, 22.59±3.70 ng/mL) were higher than those in FOB patients (50 cases, 8.29±1.09 ng/mL;

<0.05) and CTL (100 cases, 1.21±0.12 ng/mL;

<0.0001). The sPDPN levels in patients at stage III and stage IV (30.08±4.66 ng/mL) were higher than in patients at stage I and stage II (11.84±1.12 ng/mL;

=0.005). The sPDPN levels in patients with high-moderate and moderate differentiation (17.50±3.02 ng/mL) were lower than those in patients with moderately low and low differentiation (35.73±4.26 ng/mL;

=0.026). The sPDPN levels in patients with metastasis (30.60±4.27 ng/mL) were much higher than those in patients without metastasis (13.02±1.30 ng/mL;

=0.017).

The pseudokinase Tribbles 3 (TRIB3) is involved in many cellular processes and various cancers. In recent years, the importance of metabolic transformation in the maintenance of malignant tumors has become increasingly prominent. Abnormal metabolism of cancer cells is considered a hallmark of cancer. However, the exact role and molecular mechanism of TRIB3 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cell reprogramming is largely unknown.

The oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR) of cells were examined with a Seahorse XF Extracellular Flux Analyzer. Cyclopamine mw In vitro and in vivo RT-qPCR, Western blotting, and functional assays were performed to explore the functional roles of TRIB3 in LUAD.

In the present study, we demonstrated that TRIB3 is remarkably upregulated in LUAD cell lines as well as tissues. TRIB3 knockdown significantly inhibited LUAD cell growth and suppressed LUAD cell invasion, while TRIB3 overexpression conferred the opposite effects. Moreover, silencing TRIB3 suppressed the tumorigenesis and metastatic ability of LUAD cells. Mechanistically, we demonstrated that silencing TRIB3 significantly impaired aerobic glycolysis ability in LUAD cells. Furthermore, our data indicated that TRIB3 knockdown decreased hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)1α levels and targeted the glycolytic genes regulated by HIF1α.

Together, our findings revealed a previously unappreciated function of TRIB3 in cancer cell metabolism and tumor progression, illustrating that TRIB3 could be considered a valuable therapeutic target for LUAD patients.

The present study aims to discuss the clinical features, treatment, and prognosis of fetal sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCTs) to improve the standard of diagnosis and treatment.

The clinical data of 15 pregnant females with fetal SCT, admitted to Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital from January 2013 to January 2020, were retrospectively analyzed with respect to clinical characteristics, imaging features, complications, treatment options, and pregnancy outcomes.

The 15 cases of fetal SCT were all detected by color ultrasonography. There were two cases of cystic tumors and 13 cases of solid cystic tumors. In terms of tumor blood supply, there was one case without blood flow signal, eight cases with little blood flow signal, and six cases with abundant blood flow. At the time of delivery, there were two cases with a tumor diameter less than 5 cm, five cases with a diameter of 5-10 cm, and eight cases with a diameter of more than 10 cm. In terms of tumor shape and location, there were two cases of type I, ten cases of type II, and three cases of type III.
