This is the first study demonstrating the relative abundance of salivary bacteria in adult Thai subjects with different levels of BMI and T2DM. Regardless of the similar pattern of bacterial profiles across groups, sPLS-DA analysis highlighted the influence of host variables (gender, age, and use of antibiotics) on the abundance of salivary microbiota. Our findings pave the way for further hypothesis testing to gain insight into the association between host factors and salivary microbiome.

To develop a risk scoring system for prediction of inguinal lymph-node involvement and to suggest a management strategy according to the risk groups based on clinical, radiological and pathological parameters in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of penis.

A retrospective analysis of all patients of SCC penis from 2014 to 2020 at our institute was done. The patients were divided into derivation cohort (2014 to 2019) and validation cohort (2019 to 2020). A total of 10 predictors were analysed in univariate analysis and those found significant were further subjected to multivariate analysis to derive regression coefficient for each. CRiSS scores were assigned based on the coefficients and three groups were created which were correlated with nodal metastasis. The predictive accuracy of the model was assessed by ROC analysis of the derivation cohort and validation cohort.

A total of 102 patients were identified in derivation cohort and 23 patients in validation cohort. Size of the primary >3cm, ulceroinfiltrative growth, involving shaft, ultrasound size of lymph-nodes >1cm, loss of fatty hila, moderate and poor differentiation, and lypmphovascular/perineural invasion were independent predictors of inguinal lymphnode metastasis in multivariate analysis. CRiSS could achieve AUROC of .910 and .887 in derivation and validation cohort respectively. The rate of metastatic lymphadenopathy was 0%, 41.4%, and 89.5% in low, intermediate, and high-risk groups respectively.

In this paper, we describe the results of the detection of the list of neglected arboviruses in the Astrakhan region for the 2018 season. For the purpose of the study in-house PCR assays for detection of 18 arboviruses have been developed and validated using arboviruses obtained from Russian State Collection of Viruses. Pools of ticks (n = 463) and mosquitoes (n = 312) as well as 420 samples of human patients sera have been collected and analyzed. Using developed multiplex real-time PCR assays we were able to detect RNA of eight arboviruses (Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus, Dhori (Batken strain) virus, Batai virus, Tahyna virus, Uukuniemi virus, Inkoo virus, Sindbis virus and West Nile fever virus). All discovered viruses are capable of infecting humans causing fever and in some cases severe forms with hemorrhagic or neurologic symptoms. From PCR-positive samples, we were able to recover one isolate each of Dhori (Batken strain) virus and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus which were further characterized by next-generation sequencing. Thus, the medical research communities are trying to find the remedy to restrict the spreading of this virus, while the vaccine development work is still under research in parallel. In such critical situation, not only the medical research community, but also the scientists in different fields like microbiology, pharmacy, bioinformatics and data science are also sharing effort to accelerate the process of vaccine development, virus prediction, forecasting the transmissible probability and reproduction cases of virus for social awareness. With the similar context, in this article, we have studied sequence variability of the virus primarily focusing on three aspects (a) sequence variability among SARS-CoV-1, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 in human host, which are in the same coronavirus family, (b) sequence variability of SARS-CoV-2 in human host for 54 different countries and (c) sequence variability between coronavirus family and country specific SARS-CoV-2 sequences in human host. For this purpose, as a case study, we have performed topological analysis of 2391 global genomic sequences of SARS-CoV-2 in association with SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV using an integrated semi-alignment based computational technique. The results of the semi-alignment based technique are experimentally and statistically found similar to alignment based technique and computationally faster. Moreover, the outcome of this analysis can help to identify the nations with homogeneous SARS-CoV-2 sequences, so that same vaccine can be applied to their heterogeneous human population.Plasmodium vivax is the most widespread malaria species parasitizing humans outside Africa, with approximately 100 million cases reported per year. Transmission blocking vaccines have recently emerged as potential vaccine candidates to reduce transmission rates to below the essential levels required for the maintenance of the parasite life cycle. Here, we demonstrated that P. vivax was the predominant species found in a malaria-endemic area, although P. vivax/P. falciparum co-infections were also common.
