The current focus in the field of human reproductive medicine is to develop a more rapid, quantitative, and noninvasive test. Some of the most promising fields of research for noninvasive assays comprise cell-free DNA analysis, microscopy techniques coupled with artificial intelligence (AI) and omics analysis of the spent blastocyst media. High-throughput proteomics and metabolomics technologies are valuable tools for noninvasive embryo analysis. The biggest advantages of such technology are that it can differentiate between the embryos that appear morphologically identical and has the potential to identify the ploidy status noninvasively prior to transfer in a fresh cycle or before vitrification for a later frozen embryo transfer.Vertebrates possess circadian clocks, driven by transcriptional-translational loops of clock genes, to orchestrate anticipatory physiological adaptations to cyclic environmental changes. This work aims to investigate how the absence of a light-dark cycle and a feeding schedule impacts the oscillators in the hypothalamus-pituitary-interrenal axis of goldfish. Fish were maintained under 12L12D feeding at ZT 2; 12L12D feeding at random times; and constant darkness feeding at ZT 2. After 30 days, fish were sampled to measure daily variations in plasma cortisol and clock gene expression in the hypothalamus-pituitary-interrenal (HPI) axis. Clock gene rhythms in the HPI were synchronic in the presence of a light-dark cycle but were lost in its absence, while in randomly fed fish, only the interrenal clock was disrupted. The highest cortisol levels were found in the randomly fed group, suggesting that uncertainty of food availability could be as stressful as the absence of a light-dark cycle. Cortisol daily rhythms seem to depend on central clocks, as a disruption in the adrenal clock did not impede rhythmic cortisol release, although it could sensitize the tissue to stress.Surgical gestures detection can provide targeted, automated surgical skill assessment and feedback during surgical training for robot-assisted surgery (RAS). Several sources including surgical videos, robot tool kinematics, and an electromyogram (EMG) have been proposed to reach this goal. We aimed to extract features from electroencephalogram (EEG) data and use them in machine learning algorithms to classify robot-assisted surgical gestures. EEG was collected from five RAS surgeons with varying experience while performing 34 robot-assisted radical prostatectomies over the course of three years. Eight dominant hand and six non-dominant hand gesture types were extracted and synchronized with associated EEG data. Network neuroscience algorithms were utilized to extract functional brain network and power spectral density features. Sixty extracted features were used as input to machine learning algorithms to classify gesture types. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) F-value statistical method was used for feature selection and 10-fold cross-validation was used to validate the proposed method. The proposed feature set used in the extra trees (ET) algorithm classified eight gesture types performed by the dominant hand of five RAS surgeons with an accuracy of 90%, precision 90%, sensitivity 88%, and also classified six gesture types performed by the non-dominant hand with an accuracy of 93%, precision 94%, sensitivity 94%.Over the last decades, the incidence of diabetes has increased in developed countries and beyond the genetic impact, environmental factors, which can trigger the activation of the gut immune system, seem to affect the induction of the disease process. We observed the Mediterranean black widow, Latrodectus tredecimguttatus, in the individual and mating context, to test how body size measures and two functionally important aggressive behaviors, i.e., male aggression towards rivals and female voracity towards prey, affect mating behaviors, mating success and sexual cannibalism.
