Ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a life-threatening condition, which usually implies the need of an implantable cardioverter defibrillator in combination with antiarrhythmic drugs and catheter ablation. Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) represents a common form of therapy in oncology, which has emerged as a well-tolerated and promising alternative option for the treatment of refractory VT in patients with structural heart disease.

In the STRA-MI-VT trial, we will investigate as primary endpoints safety and efficacy of SBRT for the treatment of recurrent VT in patients not eligible for catheter ablation. Secondary aim will be to evaluate SBRT effects on global mortality, changes in heart function, and in the quality of life during follow-up.

This is a spontaneous, prospective, experimental (phase Ib/II), open-label study (NCT04066517); 15 patients with structural heart disease and intractable VT will be enrolled within a 2-year period. Advanced multimodal cardiac imaging preceding chest CT-simulation e manner.

Combined immunodeficiency (CID), due to mutations in TFRC gene that encodes the transferrin receptors (TfR1), is a rare monogenic disorder. In this study, we further characterize the clinical and immunological phenotypes in a cohort of eight patients.

A retrospective review of clinical and immunological features of patients diagnosed with a TFRC gene mutation between 2015 and 2019 in three tertiary centers.

Eight patients from six unrelated families were enrolled. The patients had a median age of 7years (4-32years). All patients presented with recurrent sinopulmonary infections, chronic diarrhea, and failure to thrive in early life. Less common features were skin abscesses, conjunctivitis, global developmental delay, optic nerve atrophy, vitiligo, multinodular goiter, and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis-like symptoms. All patients had intermittent neutropenia and 87% of the patients had recurrent thrombocytopenia. Anemia was found in 62%. All patients had hypogammaglobinemia and one had a persistent high IgM level. All patients had impaired function of T cells. The same homozygous missense mutation c.58T>Cp.Y20H, in the TFRC gene, was detected in all patients. Stem cell transplantation from matched donors was successful in two patients. Five patients did not receive stem cell transplantation, and they are on prophylactic treatment. One patient died due to severe sepsis and neurological complications.

This report provides a large cohort with a long follow up of patients with this disease. Our cohort showed variable disease severity.

To investigate whether patients with overactive bladder syndrome (OAB) have brain volume changes using voxel-based morphometry (VBM) and correlations with clinical tests.

With institutional review board approval and after obtaining written informed consent, structural magnetic resonance imaging data were prospectively acquired in 28 patients and 28 control subjects. OAB symptoms were assessed using the OAB symptom score (OABSS) scale. The gray matter volume (GMV) of each voxel was compared between the two groups while controlling for the effects of age, sex, and education level. Correlation analysis was performed to identify correlations between abnormal GMV regions and OABSS scores in patients. PND-1186 ic50 Multiple comparisons were corrected using a false discovery rate (FDR) method.

Patients with OAB exhibited a GMV reduction in the right cerebellum, bilateral hippocampus, left insula, right superior temporal gyrus, left anterior cingulate gyrus, bilateral caudate nucleus and right middle frontal gyrus. Furthermore, there was a significant negative correlation between the local GMV of the right cerebellar hemisphere and OABSS score.

Patients with OAB have abnormal GMV in brain regions localized within the brain-bladder control network. It deepens our understanding of the structural changes in the brain area of the network. The patterns of structural reorganization in patients with OAB may provide useful information in the neuropathological mechanisms of the OAB.

The main purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between the serum IGF-1 concentration and certain cardiac indexes in hemodialysis patients.

The study was conducted at the Clinical Center of Montenegro and three regional hemodialysis centers. The echocardiographic studies were performed the day after the hemodialysis sessions. Blood samples were taken before dialysis for the measurement of IGF1 and PTH.

A total of 102 patients were divided into two groups according to their left-ventricular ejection fraction (EF). Patients in the group with the higher EF had higher IGF-1 concentration (p = 0.024). IGF-1 was positively correlated with EF (ρ = 0.251, p = 0.012), and negatively correlated with LVMI (ρ = - 0.621, p < 0.001), SW (ρ = - 0.632, p < 0.001), and LW (ρ = - 0.632, p < 0.001). Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine the possible independent association between the EF and IGF-1 and the clinical data. The age of patients, their gender, and smoking habits did not have any combined influence on EF, but IGF-1 had a strong influence and was independently associated with the ejection fraction.

Our results may indicate the possible protective role of IGF-1 in the maintenance of heart structure and function in hemodialysis patients.

Adults with autism (or a suspicion of autism; n = 111) and typically developing adults (n = 109) completed a demographic questionnaire and the ToMISR-Adult online. Both quantitative and qualitative self-reports of one's own theory of mind functioning were collected. The ToMISR-Adult performed well under all examinations of reliability and validity (internal consistency, accuracy of classification, contrasting-groups). The qualitative data confirmed impressions of validity and revealed that the adults in our sample had high levels of self-insight regarding their own theory of mind. The ToMISR-Adult is offered as a promising research and clinical tool for the assessment of social cognition in adults.
