Truffles in the genus Tuber are hypogeus fungi that have a worldwide distribution. Despite this, knowledge about their diversity in the Middle East is very limited. In recent years, large quantities of truffles have been imported from Iran for being sold in Italy. While analyzing certain commercial batches of T. aestivum from Iran, we found some ascomata that resembled T. excavatum but had macro- and micromorphological features that were distinct from this species. They were subglobose, or depressed to slightly irregular, with a conspicuous basal cavity, grayish brown, brown, or pinkish gray, with a minutely papillose peridium. The gleba was pinkish gray in youth, brown at maturity, marbled with cream branched veins. Ascospores were broadly ellipsoid, with an irregular reticulum and distinctive long crests along the longitudinal axis, up to 9 µm high. Analysis of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (LSU) rDNA sequences showed that these specimens form a monphyletic and well-supported taxon within the Excavatum clade. NVP-2 Morphological and molecular analyses supported the proposal of the new species T. iranicum.To improve the reliability and accuracy of dynamic machine in design process, high precision and efficiency of numerical computation is essential means to identify dynamic characteristics of mechanical system. In this paper, a new computation approach is introduced to improve accuracy and efficiency of computation for coupling vibrating system. The proposed method is a combination of piecewise constant method and Laplace transformation, which is simply called as Piecewise-Laplace method. In the solving process of the proposed method, the dynamic system is first sliced by a series of continuous segments to reserve physical attribute of the original system; Laplace transformation is employed to separate coupling variables in segment system, and solutions of system in complex domain can be determined; then, considering reverse Laplace transformation and residues theorem, solution in time domain can be obtained; finally, semi-analytical solution of system is given based on continuity condition. Through comparison of numerical computation, it can be found that precision and efficiency of numerical results with the Piecewise-Laplace method is better than Runge-Kutta method within same time step. If a high-accuracy solution is required, the Piecewise-Laplace method is more suitable than Runge-Kutta method.Oxidative stress and inflammation are necessary pathogenic factors contributing to the aetiology of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Triptolide (TPL) is derived from the traditional Chinese herb lei gong teng with anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive and antitumor activities. This article was developed to examine the effect of TPL on DR. ARPE-19 cells were pre-treated with TPL and then stimulated by high glucose (HG). We found that TPL treatment enhanced cell viability, decreased apoptosis and ROS production in HG-treated RPE cells. MiR-29b was low-expressed in HG-treated cells, but TPL raised its expression. In addition, the protective activity of TPL towards ARPE-19 cells was attenuated when miR-29b was reduced. By utilising bioinformatics evaluation, PTEN was predicted as a downstream target of miR-29b. Also, TPL obstructed PI3K/AKT signalling pathways in HG-treated ARPE-19 Cells. Taken together, TPL secured ARPE-19 cells from HG-induced oxidative damage via regulating miR-29b/PTEN axis.The purpose of this study was to evaluate trends in agricultural mortality before and after implementation of safety initiatives. Retrospective review of Kansas mortality data from agriculture-related injuries from 1979 to 2018. The 39-year period was stratified into four periods to compare mechanisms of injury and fatality rates between study periods. There were 780 agricultural-related deaths. Mean age significantly increased between study Period I to Period IV from 46.4 to 55.3 years (P = 0.013). Tractors remain the primary cause of farm-vehicle mortality overall; however, tractor-related deaths significantly decreased during the study periods from 75.6% to 44.3% (P less then 0.001). Tractor rollover mortality also decreased from 50.8% to 25.6% (P = 0.036). ATV-related deaths significantly increased from study Period II to III (5.1% to 23.9%, P less then 0.001), but decreased from Period III to IV (23.9% to 17.0%). Tractor-related fatalities are decreasing, but tractors still remain the most dangerous piece of farm equipment. ATV-related fatalities are a continued concern. Continued rural education and emphasis on the use of rollover protection structures is a critical focus in the effort to prevent fatal farming injuries.

To compare salivary fluoride (F) concentration and F retention after rinsing with a new 0.32% sodium fluoride (NaF) rinse and conventional 0.05 and 0.2% NaF rinses.

Seventeen subjects (aged 22-26 years), with normal salivary secretion rates, participated in a double blind, cross-over study. In three separate sessions with a minimum washout period of 48 h, they rinsed for 1 min with 10 ml of 0.05, 0.2 or 0.32% NaF mouthrinse. Unstimulated whole saliva was collected before (baseline 0 min) and after 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, 45 and 60 min. The F concentration was plotted against time, and the area under the curve (AUC) calculated. Salivary F concentration and F retention for the three mouthrinses were compared by a randomized block test, followed by Tukey's test and a paired 2-tailed test.

There was a clear dose-response for AUC 3-60 min; 0.32% > 0.2% > 0.05% (

 < .05). The mean F retention was 0.25 mg for 0.05% NaF, 0.86 mg F for 0.2% Na and 1.31 mg F for 0.32% NaF, (

 < .05).

The higher salivary F concentration over time and the higher F retention after rinsing with an 0.32% NaF solution suggests a potential application in prevention of caries and dental erosion.

A chronic disorder of consciousness (DOC) is a devastating condition for the patients and their families. Achieving improved communication with patients in this state is of utmost importance. Over recent years we have seen some progress in the development of rehabilitation protocols for patients with DOC by which the patient's limited actions impact the environment (e.g. activate music) based on the principle of contingent stimulation. However, one of the major factors, which hinders further progress, is the limited overt responsiveness of the patient, which poses a severe limitation on the ability of the therapists to evaluate whether specific interventions have an impact. In this work, we harness a novel electrophysiological marker the Brain Engagement Index (BEI), which enables simple monitoring of patient's engagement during interventions, intending to overcome this limitation.

We combine the BEI marker with the contingent stimulation principle, to propose a 4-levels protocol for advancing communication with DOC patients.
