Whenever this technique was applied, the use of pharmaceuticals was reduced, there were less side effects, shorter hospitalization timesframes and lower treatment costs. Aim of the study Evaluate the knowledge and perceptions of nurses about hypnotic communication and the causes for which this technique is not frequently used. A secondary objective pointed to measuring the effectiveness of an educational event on hypnosis. Method The evaluation was done by administering an anonymous and voluntary survey, in a pre-test and post-test modality to nurses subscribed to a formative event on hypnotic communication organized by the Nursing Order, Province of Ravenna. Results 78 nurses participated in the study. The analysis of the pre-test results show a gap of knowledge regarding hypnotic communication. The main causes were found regarding the lack of use for hypnotic communication stereotypes and prejudices related to this technique and insufficient university education. Conclusions The implementation of this technique, effective and efficient under various aspects, requires a preliminary creation of culture regarding this theme, capable of surpassing the stereotypes and resistances brought by a lack of theoretical elements.

There is increasing need to achieve performance excellence in healthcare organizations. Nursing human resource practices (HRP) and nursing performance are important variables to achieve it.

To investigate the effect of nurses' perceptions of HRP on achieving hospitals' performance excellence through the mediating role of nurses' job performance.

The study used a cross-sectional research design and recruited 329 nurses from 16 hospitals. Selleckchem Tetrazolium Red Three self-reported questionnaires were used; HRP scale, Baldrige dimension scale and six-dimension scale of nursing performance (6-D).

Nurses' perceptions of HRP, hospitals' performance excellence and nurses' job performance were all significantly correlated (p < 0.01). Nurses' job performance was found to play a mediating role in the association of nurses' perceptions of HRP and hospitals' performance excellence.

Nurses' perceptions of HRP can help hospitals achieve performance excellence by improving nurses' job performance. Clinical Relevance for nursing management Particular attention should be paid to improve nursing HRP and nursing performance.

The medicalisation of birth pathway may negatively impact on women's empowerment, enhancing distress even in cases of healthy pregnancies. We have built a program which is comprised of Mindfulness, Yoga, Nutrition, development & Counselling, Coaching, antenatal classes, and Osteopathic treatment (MYNd&CO).

This study is a randomized controlled trial involving low-risk pregnant women. They will be randomized to the experimental (MYNd&CO intervention plus standard care) or control group (standard care). The primary (general health and wellbeing, maternal distress) and secondary outcome measures (urinary incontinence, sexual problems, and physical wellbeing) will be assessed via questionnaires at baseline and 6 months after childbirth. The independent-samples t-test and Chi-square will be used to detect changes in the outcomes between intervention and control group.

The trial is expected to increase knowledge about the effectiveness of a holistic approach in low-risk pregnant women, in terms of obstetrical and psychophysiological outcomes.

Law no. 24/17 has updated the Italian legislation regarding healthcare professional responsibility. In practice, all eight groups of healthcare professionals have well defined areas of activity and responsibility. The aim of this research is to investigate how rehabilitation healthcare professionals perceive responsibility in the professional life.

An online questionnaire was administered including two socio-demographic items, such as sex, as male and female, and role, as nurse or patient, and the Quality of Communication Questionnaire (QOC) for twice, referring to the period before during the pandemic.

178 subjects participated in the study, of which 60 (33.7%) were patients and 118 (66.3%) were nurses. During the pandemic, patients reported no significant differences in the perception of the quality of nurse-patient communication. While nurses recorded a lower perception of communication quality during the pandemic period than before.

Healthcare organizations, in order to reduce errors and extend the number of safe practices, are looking for possible solutions to enhance the clients' health quality care and trying to spread the culture of safety healthcare. Although in the literature the field of research "patient safety" is very debated, there are few empirical studies that investigate about the strategies undertaken by nursing students for the patients identification process during their care pathway. The aim of this study is to investigate the knowledge of the Ministerial Recommendation No. 3/2008 among nursing students, a specific Italian directive that aims to guarantee the safety of cares.

A four-weeks single-center observational study was conducted, involving a convenient sample of 112 students of the 2nd and 3rd year of the Nursing Course Degree of the University of Parma. The survey was conducted using an ad-hoc questionnaire.

The use of the identification wristband is considered one of the most important strategy to make sutband.

The abuse of technical devices can be considered a form of addiction that is defined in current literature as Nomophobia. The phenomenon appears to be quite widespread among nurses and nursing students, and nomophobic behaviours of professionals can lead to a reduction in the quality of the care provided. The aim of this study is to investigate the situation in a University and in a hospital in northern Italy and evaluate the levels of nomophobia among nurses and students.

An observational study was conducted with a questionnaire using a sample of nursing students and nurses. Both of the studies had the common goal of investigating the levels of nomophobia and evaluate the comparison between the two groups.

In general, neither nurses nor students seem to demonstrate nomophobia's critical levels. The comparison of the daily use of the smartphone between nurses and students shows that the frequent use of students is balanced by the nurses' daily trend line that progressively decreases. Both nurses and stutly irreversible errors. The transmission of information between registered nurses (RNs) and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) in triage plays a fundamental role in patient care. Despite their common purpose is to assure patients to get the best diagnostic, therapeutic and care pathway, triage RNs and EMTs hold different perspectives during the process. One aspect that has not been investigated in the international literature concerns the possible presence of prejudice, meant as a preconceived opinion capable of causing people to adopt unjust attitudes toward EMTs by triage RNs. To investigate this phenomenon a survey was conducted among 740 healthcare workers (197 triage RNs and 543 EMTs), in 14 hub and spoke hospitals in Lombardia region (Italy) in October 2019. The 21.9% of RNs reported negative prejudice toward EMTs (particularly if they are volunteer), while 71% of EMTs perceived negative prejudice from triage RNs. This survey did not investigate the phenomenon exhaustively but witnessed a slippery scenario that is worth to be further explored, also evaluating whether it can affect outcomes in patients.

The Coronavirus has put a strain on the response capacity of health systems and there are various psychological effects on health workers.

To investigate the psychological impact of the coronavirus emergency on physicians and nurses.

A study was conducted on a sample of nurses and physicians (n=770), who were asked to fill in a questionnaire investigating physical and psychological problems. It also included the IES (Impact Event Scale), STAI (State Trait Anxiety Inventory) scale and BDI (Beck Depression Inventory).

87.7% of the sample was represented by nurses (n=675), 12.3% (n=95) by physicians. 52.3% (n=403) of the participants believed that they had not received good training on the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment. 18.2% (n=140) declared that they had experienced a moment in which they had had to choose among the patients whom to treat for an essential therapy. Among the psychological symptoms, stress (76.2%; n=587), anxiety (59.4%; n=457) and depression (11.8%) prevailed and only 3.9% of the healthcare personnel sought help from a psychologist.
